Fate of Thorik Page 47

by Anthony G. Wedgeworth

Draq dove through the clear water behind the fast moving sea snake. Wider than the dragon and three times as long, the serpent had collected its first catch for the day. Gluic was caught in its forked tail and held her breath as she was whipped back and forth. The snake could easily out swim Draq if it was not for its cargo of Gluic.

Using this to his advantage, Draq simply stayed behind him instead of trying to out maneuver the sea serpent. Trailing in its wake, he caught up to Gluic and reached out to grab the snake, first with his claws on the front of his wings and then with his strong back legs.

His sharp nails pierced the snake’s scales causing a trail of blood to spill out, but it wasn’t enough to cause it to let go of Gluic who was starting to go limp.

He knew her air was about out and time was of the essence. Raising his sharp red tipped tail, he thrusted it deep into the snake.

The snake went straight with pain, releasing Gluic who now began to swim to the surface.

Draq started to follow her back to the surface until he realized that his tail was still lodged into the snake’s body. He was unable to pull it out as he watched the Num float up and away from him.
