He rolled, kneeling just in front of her. In his wide palms he held a small black leather box tied with a bow.
Tears sprang to Tessa’s eyes. “Ryland?”
“Open the box, T.T.,” he whispered.
Lifting the box, weighted with meaning, she tugged on the ribbon. A latch cracked open, revealing a single band of diamonds, no more than an eighth of an inch wide. She pinched the ring from its nest and raised it to the street light to watch the sparkle. And on the inner edge she saw a slight mark. Pulling it closer she read the inscription.

Tears blurred her vision as she launched herself into Ryland’s arms.
“I love you,” his voice was a choked whisper. “Sunday to Saturday and all the days we have to together. You, me, and Emma. Please marry me.”
She nodded, unable to speak through the blooming of her heart.
Cupping her cheeks, nearly engulfing her face with his hands, he lowered his lips to hers. With a brush of a kiss he sealed their lives.
“I love you,” she whispered.
“I love you, too.” He slid the ring on her finger and a grin stretched across his face, lighting his eyes. “And I’ll love using your new nickname.”
Admiring her ring, she glanced up at him with a single lift of her eyebrow.
“Wife.”
And this time, Ryland Jessup got the perfect nickname right.
