“I know exactly what they should call you in honor of your first mission,” I said grinning.

She slapped me hard across the face and had to be restrained by Ivy.

“You have any more nicknames for me?” She said still mad about the ear.

“Like a said Vanessa, only one name comes to mind when discussing your first mission.”

“And what name would that be?”

“You should call yourself ‘Failure’”, I said laughing even harder now.

“But I haven’t failed.” She said as she threw me in the car.

As soon as the door shut and the car slowly began to move I teleported myself out of the car on the side of the road and waved goodbye to her. I could still remember her face as she first saw me, then attempted to use her powers but found out they didn’t work. The cars instantly stopped for me, but by then I was on the other side of the freeway, with them chasing the illusion I cast of myself teleporting down the highway.

  CHAPTER 31

  Where We First Started

The next couple of months I spent hiding in plain sight. I found a house owned by an old lady who always seemed to be out doing something. I crashed in her house during the day under a bed and at night when she came home I disguised myself as furniture. Thanks to her internet, I found out my parents were in fact murdered. It was hard for me to grieve properly because I had finally stopped kidding myself, I wanted to live. While surfing the net, I eventually got bored and decided to see the world, starting with Yosemite.

I really had no need for money anymore since I was the master at just taking what I wanted from a store, rather it be by illusion or teleportation. For some unknown reason I decided to buy a soda from a vendor in Yosemite and that’s what doomed me. The person I talked to seemed honest enough and I left to enjoy my day. I hadn’t talked to anyone in a while so I was very friendly to all the other vacationers I saw there. After about two hours I was confronted by a man with bushy eyebrows and slicked back hair. He looked just like a mobster or hitman in the movies.

“Sorry about this kid but they offered me my freedom. I can’t believe they finally caught me. I guess I am just lucky they wanted you more. I figured I would be fish food by now.” The man started talking to me.

“I am sorry but you must have the wrong person,” I said trying to figure out what he was talking about.

“No Cory I am sure I have the right person and I have led them right to you. It is unfortunate that I must rat on a fellow outlaw, but I am glad they want you more than me. Can you really take away powers?”

“How long do I have?” I figured out exactly what he meant and had to prepare myself.

“They have figured out I have led them on a goose chase and they are coming now. One of them is behind you.”

I turn to see Kara staring at me. She speaks into her watch as I turn to high tail it outta there. You are aware of the other parts which leaves me where I am now, hiding behind a damn water fall with broken bones and paralyzed.

I start to feel better and am slowly gaining my feeling back. As I am contemplating my escape I strong hand suddenly clamps over my mouth and I feel claws at my throat.

“Do not scream”, I hear the unmistakable voice of Khatara. “If you attempt anything I will rip your throat out, do you understand?”

I nod my head yes. Suddenly I feel a sharp sting in my back.

“You have just been infected with venom from a rare species I will not name. In a couple of hours you will have a splitting headache. I have the anti venom but you need to make your way to 115 Lundy’s Lane in San Francisco. If you do not there is an excellent chance you will never walk again. Do as I say and when I am finished with you, you are welcome to continue the life of an outlaw. Try to run and I am guessing you won’t be too hard a fight. I will lead them off.”

Khatara then went pass me out of the water fall. I waited until night and a headache started coming on. I could feel my body trying to fight it and it probably could but I didn’t want to take any chances. I reached the house and went inside. I could make out at least two figures in the house as I stepped in closer. Suddenly I was pushed to the ground by a small figure standing over me.

“So Cory, are you ready for some hunka hunk of wolfie wolfie love?” Said Kara
