“You want me to… to tell my husband?” It was all happening so fast. I had barely been Valerie’s lover for a week. I adored her, maybe to the point of unhealthy infatuation, but I was not ready to destroy my marriage completely.
“No,” she said. “We are going to show your husband. He will have the chance to decide how he is going to react. He can still have happiness in a sexless marriage. But he needs to know the truth.”
“The truth,” I said, trying to imagine Todd watching me with Valerie.
“That you belong to me, Audrey,” she said and her hand wrapped around my slender neck. She did not choke me, but she looked into my eyes as she lightly squeezed. “Say it.”
“I… I belong to you,” I said, my heart swelling.
“Yes,” she said and released my throat. “Yes, you do.”
God help me, I wanted it that way.
