  About the Author

  George MacDonald Fraser OBE was a bestselling historical novelist, journalist and screenwriter. MacDonald Fraser served in the Border Regiment in Burma during the Second World War and in the Gordon Highlanders. After working on newspapers in Canada and Britain, he wrote his first Flashman novel in 1969, he went on to write a total of thirteen volumes of the Flashman Papers in all. In addition to his novels he also wrote numerous screenplays, most notably The Three Musketeers and the James Bond film, Octopussy. George MacDonald Fraser died in January 2008 at the age of 82.
