“That works. See you then.” I hang up and go to the fridge and pull out some grapes and cheese. “Claree, in that cabinet over there is a strainer, get it out and rinse off the grapes for me, okay?”
“Yes, ma’am,” she replies.
While she’s doing that, I slice up some cheese then grab a box of crackers. Once everything’s done, I let Claree carry the plates to the table while I pour us all some lemonade. As we sit and enjoy a light snack, I think about the rest of the day and what needs to be done.
“Miss Trinity?” Claree asks. “Shelby normally takes a nap about this time.”
“That sounds like a good idea, we’ve all been going hard these past few weeks. How about we lay her down then go curl up and watch a movie?” I sure could use a nap myself.
“Can I lay with her? It’s a new room and bed and I don’t want her scared.”
“That’s fine, sweetie. I’m going to lay down as well. If you wake up, come get me up, okay? Then we’ll figure out dinner and get your lunchbox ready for tomorrow.”
“Okay. C’mon, Shelby, time for a nap,” she sing-songs. I set my timer on my phone for an hour and a half. Hopefully, that’ll give me enough to power through the rest of today.
The doorbell ringing wakes me up and I stumble out of my bed and hurry to the front door, praying it didn’t wake the girls up. Opening the door, I’m met with a delivery person holding multiple bouquets of flowers. “I’m looking for Trinity Adams?”
“I’m Trinity Adams,” I tell him.
“Can you sign here, ma’am?” the man asks.
I quickly sign where he indicates then carry the three bouquets into the house. One is for Claree, one is for Shelby and one is for...me? Opening the card, I see Here’s to new beginnings. Keep strong and hold your head high. I’ll see you soon, Chief. God, that man. He’s perfect in every way, always thinking of me and the girls before himself. I sign the slip and hand it back to the delivery kid, I bring them in and set them on the coffee table so the girls can see them as soon as they walk into the living room. I can’t wait to see the looks on their faces. I sit down on the couch and admire my bouquet, no one has ever gotten me anything like them before. How pathetic has my life been anyways? I sigh, getting rid of those thoughts, I need to stop letting the past interfere with my future. Grabbing my phone, I take pictures of each of the bouquets then before I can talk myself out of it, I send a text to Chief.
Me: Thank you so much. The girls are napping right now but they’ll be over the moon when they see these.
Chief: You’re welcome, sweetness.
Me: How is your day going?
Chief: It would be better if I were with y’all.
Me: I wish you could be too.
Shit, I can’t believe I sent that to him! It’s gotta be all the stress from the last few weeks catching up to me. Well, in for a penny, in for a pound. I go ahead and send the pictures of the flowers to the girls in a group text. Sure enough, within minutes I’ve got comments from Cara and DJ. When I say that he and I are just friends, I get the cryptic response of bikers don’t just do friends, be prepared. What the fuck? I know he’s implied that he wants more, but it’s too soon...isn’t it? I give up trying to figure him out. When I think things are happening a certain way, he completely flips them around on me and we end up running in the other direction. Maybe it’s time he and I had a talk. Yeah, that’ll work. Then again, I’m such a wuss when it comes to relationships and other things, do I want to know? Plus, I’m known to run from confrontations and talks of the future, especially when the future scares the absolute fudge out of me.
Chapter Four
Chief
I wasn’t able to call Trinity the night before thanks to a multi-car pile-up just outside of town. Damn distracted drivers. Having to go to a family’s home and tell them that their loved one is deceased is not what I wanted to do. Such a bright, promising life snuffed out because they couldn’t wait. Heading to my bike, I debate heading over to Trinity’s to see if they want to go to breakfast. Or, should I go to the clubhouse and get some much-needed sleep? Fuck it, I need to lay eyes on the three beauties who have taken this ice-encased heart and thawed it.
When I arrive at her house, I park my bike and walk up to the front door. Just as I’m about to knock, the door opens and she’s standing there, looking at me in surprise. “Turk! I... I didn’t expect you.” God, hearing my name, come off those beautiful lips of hers, is the best sound.
“Morning, sweetness,” I say, leaning in and kissing her lips.
“Good morning. I thought you were working?” she asks.
“I was, and it got busy, which is why I couldn’t call like I wanted to.”
“Well, come in, I was about to make breakfast.”
“That’s why I’m here, wanted to see if I could take the three of you to breakfast.”
“Not after you worked all night! I’ve got this, plus I’d like to cook for you,” she states. Seeing that bit of feisty pop up has me wishing for other things right now, not good when I’m about to come face to face, with two little girls. I head in after her, happy to hear the lock being engaged and am engulfed by little girl arms and a crazy pink doll.
Scooping up Shelby and her doll, I get a wet, smacking kiss on my face and hear, “Poppy!”
“What’s a ‘Poppy’?” I ask Trinity.
“Poppy is her doll, I think she’s telling you about her,” she says, her laughter sending curls of desire through me. I wonder if I’ll ever tire of hearing her sultry voice?
“It’s from the movie Trolls,” Claree says, coming into the living room. “It’s her favorite movie.”
“I was going to make pancakes and bacon, is that okay?” Trinity asks.
My head is spinning with the multiple conversations going on, because Shelby hasn’t quit jabbering at me and her doll. “Sounds good, lead the way and I’ll help.”
“No, Chief. You’ve been on shift all night, I’ve got this. Sit down and relax,” she tells me.
“Appreciate that, Trinity. But I don’t mind helping you out.”
“You will be helping me out by not being under my feet and entertaining the girls.”
“I’d rather be with you,” I come up next to her and whisper in her ear.
“We’ll have plenty of time later, once you’ve eaten, and had a chance to relax, and rest some.” I smile at her attempt at being bossy. She’s too sweet and submissive to pull it off, but I’ll give her an A for effort anyways. I give her a quick kiss on her cheek and take myself into the living room to watch some animated cartoon that, wait a minute, why does this guy look like a cock? What the hell are they watching? Holy shit, what happened to the cartoons like Tom and Jerry, for fuck’s sake, I’ll even watch Sesame Street or Mr. Rogers at this point.
“What is this?” I ask Claree.
“Teletubbies.”
“They look weird. Think there was a design flaw somewhere.”
“I know. If I change the channel, can you keep Shelby busy? They creep me out.”
Good, I don’t want my girls watching dancing cocks. “Why don’t we find something else to watch? This one may give me nightmares if I’m forced to watch it.”
“I can turn on Dora, she likes the singing.”
“Anything's better than this shit, I mean crap.” Claree giggles at my verbiage mess up.
Once Dora is on, I kick back a bit, listening to Shelby sing along. “Mr. Chief?”
“Yeah, Claree?”
Her voice gets really small before she whispers, “Have you found him yet? Cliff, I mean.”
Shit, I forgot to tell Trinity the good news. “Hold that thought, sweetheart.” Getting up, I go into the kitchen only to be met with the most luscious ass I’ve ever seen dancing around while she’s bent over getting something from a bottom cupboard. Dammit, my hands want to grab on, and never let go, but my brain is saying stop, the girls are here! Fuck my life. “Trinity?”
She snaps up so quickly I know she knows
what I saw, and I watch as a blush covers her face. “I wanted to let you know that we’ve got Cliff in custody.”
“Really? That’s fantastic news,” she says. “How?”
“A routine traffic stop, believe it or not,” I tell her as I move closer until I have her pinned in between me and the counter. Moving my arms so they surround her, I lean down and murmur, “If the girls weren’t up and running around, I’d show you what that dancing did to me.” Yeah, I’m upping the game a bit, so what? I watch her blush deepen, before I lean even closer and capture her lips in mine, as I lightly grind against her. I want her to get the picture loud and clear. One hand comes up and cups her jaw as I deepen the kiss. She moans into my mouth and all thoughts of Teletubbies, kids being in the other room, and how exhausted I am, flee my mind. I grind my hard as steel cock into her hip searching for any sort of relief. The damn thing has a mind of its own when it comes to our girl.
“Mr. Chief,” I hear, breaking me from my exploitations.
“Fuck,” I whisper, laying my forehead on hers. “It’s the cock block committee, I’ll be back,” I tell her as I reluctantly turn around and go back into the living room.
“What’s up, sweet girl?” I ask Claree.
“Someone’s knocking on the door, Miss Trinity doesn't want me answering the door and I know she’s making breakfast, so I called you instead.”
“Good girl,” I say, as I make my way to the front door. I open the door and am unsurprised by the visitors standing there. “Cara, DJ, what can we do for you this morning?”
“We came to visit Trinity and the girls,” Cara says. Yep, my poor dick isn’t going to be getting any action, I was hoping to play when the girls laid down for a nap. But DJ and Cara are like a tornado, unwanted and never leaving when you want them to.
“Don’t you ladies work anymore?” I ask.
“We are well-acquainted with the bosses,” DJ says winking at me. I’m taken aback by her blasé attitude, guess she has Hatch by the balls. I need to ask him about that man card he’s always going on about. I’m sure it’s been shredded by now. Hell, what am I saying, DJ probably carries it around in her purse. Lord only knows she controls the damn thing.
“Well, make yourselves at home,” I tell them opening the door wider for them to enter. Dear Lord! I just got a good look at Cara, and I swear she’s blown up overnight. My eyes widen as I look at her and she huffs at me before saying, “Yeah, I know. Don’t rub it in, I look like the goodyear blimp. I’m carrying two babies y’know.”
“Ummm...yeah, anyways. Trinity’s in the kitchen making breakfast.”
“What’s she making, I’m starving?” Cara asks, waddling her way past me.
“Damn, poor Braxton,” I can’t help but think to myself. At that thought I feel a slap to my shoulder. “Oww, what the fuck was that for?” I ask DJ.
“A woman is sensitive about her weight as it is. Add in a pregnant woman and hormones are off the chart. Don’t look at her, don’t talk to her unless you think about it first. Oh, and don’t cuss around the kids.”
“Pot meet kettle,” I say to her. I need to plan a getaway for me and Trinity. Let the double-trouble twins here take the kids so I can have a bit of ‘us’ time with my woman.
“That’s different. My kids are older, Shelby’s a toddler who repeats everything she hears.”
“So, you mean the other day when Ralynn called me a motherfucker, that wasn’t her repeating words from your mouth?”
“Nope,” she says popping her ‘P’, “that’s all Hatch’s fault.”
“Sure it is,” I reply following her into the kitchen. Does she forget I know her and have witnessed her in action? She’s a devil in her own right and has the mouth of a sailor, and she makes no apologies for it.
“What’s on the venue for the day?” she asks as we walk into the kitchen. Not sure if she’s speaking to me or Trinity, but I can’t help myself when I say, “Trinity is, can you two watch the girls for awhile?” Trinity’s face turns beet red at my proclamation and she gives me a dirty look. “What?” I ask her.
“Chief! My goodness, what is wrong with you today?”
“I missed my girl, need some snuggle time.”
“Snuggles my ass,” DJ says, “he wants between those legs, Trinity.” She has turned the shade of a cherry tomato. You’d think she’d be used to the innuendoes that fly around with this group of people.
“Do you ever not stir the pot?” I ask her.
“What’s the fun in that?” she asks me, looking up at me with innocent eyes.
I pull out my phone and hit Hatch’s number. “Hey, man, you busy? Come and get yours and Axe’s woman and while you’re at it, take the girls for the day too.” I hear DJ spluttering in the background and my grin is likely evil when I turn around and say, “You may wanna get the girls ready to go. They’ll be here in a few.”
“Can we at least eat breakfast?” Cara asks, looking at the plate full of pancakes longingly.
“Quickly,” I say over my shoulder as I go to get the girls into the kitchen. “Guess what, girls?” I ask.
“What?” Claree replies, heading to her spot at the table.
“You guys are going with DJ and Cara for the day.”
“Does that mean we get to see Talon and Jasper?” Claree asks. I immediately realize the mistake I’ve made.
“You sure will,” DJ says smirking my way.
“Why don’t y’all spend the day with the girls? They could use someone older to hang out with.”
“You can visit with them all,” Trinity says, giving me a look that could skin me alive if I were a hunted animal. What did I say that was so wrong? I don’t get it, shouldn’t we be encouraging the girls to play with the girls, and the boys with the boys? Hatch told me all about Luca wanting to play doctor, nope, not happening.
“Yippee! We have to make sure to pack Shelby’s medicine, Miss Trinity,” Claree says, before digging into her pancakes. I notice that she made Shelby’s plate, cutting the pieces small for the younger girl.
“Make sure you stay away from stethoscopes!” I holler out at her as she excitedly jumps around in her chair. I earn myself a scowl from all the women. “What? I heard about Luca wanting to ‘play doctor’, ain’t no one playing doctor with my girls,” I say vehemently.
“They’re kids, Chief! They don’t mean anything by it,” Cara states.
“My ass! Don’t forget I was a boy once too, we all like any excuse we can get to touch a girls tits.”
“Watch your mouth!” Trinity hollers out. “The girls are right here,” she tells me.
“Shouldn’t they know what boys want now? Better now, than when the first grab happens.”
The noise the three women make has me turning my attention toward my plate. I don’t get why they’re upset, I was only stating the truth. The way I see it, these two girls will be allowed to date when I’m dead and gone. Yep, that sounds about right to me. With that plan firmly in mind, I dig into my plate. Jeez, the guys need to hurry up and get here or I’ll be in the doghouse before I get a chance to play. I happen to look up and am still getting the death glare from all three of them, I hurriedly look down at my plate and shovel a fork full of pancakes into my mouth. “These are really good, Trinity.”
“Kiss ass,” DJ says to me.
“You’re still in the doghouse, Mr. Chief,” Claree whispers to me. “And don’t worry, I won’t be letting any boys play doctor with me.” I sigh in relief.
“That’s my girl,” I say patting her hand. She beams up at me and I feel on top of the world for putting it there.
Trinity
What in the world has gotten into him? I swear if I was a violent person I’d strangle him right here and right now. I know one thing, he needs to censor his thoughts and not say everything he’s thinking. Hell, I didn’t think we were at this point in our relationship yet, but what do I know? Well, damn, now he’s gonna figure out that I’m inexperienced. I cuddled and made out with my ex, but we ne
ver went the full distance. This may end up changing his mind about me and us. Hearing the doorbell, I excuse myself and go to answer the door.
“Heard our women were here causing trouble,” Hatch says, grinning down at me.
“No, they’re not. It’s a certain police chief who has gotten a burr up his butt or something!” I whisper-yell.
“We’ll take them all,” Braxton states, walking into the house. “Cara? Honey? Didn’t you already eat breakfast?” he asks as he enters the kitchen.
“Yes, but...pancakes, Braxton! They’re my kryptonite! Plus, your kids keep me constantly hungry.”
“And so are chips and salsa...and baked potatoes...and spaghetti,” DJ says.
“Eat to your heart’s content, baby,” Braxton says to her. “Gotta keep my boys nice and strong before they enter the world. Besides, I’ve got our workout plan already in place.”
“Boys!” Both DJ and I squeal out at the same time.
“Wishful thinking,” Cara tells us. “He’s hoping to even up the playing field a bit more,” she says around a bite of bacon, so it sounded more like a garbled mess. But we got the gist of what she was saying.
“Okay, does everyone have what they need?” Chief asks.
“Hold your horses, Cara, DJ, do you two remember the amount of meds to give Shelby?”
“Yes, Mom,” DJ replies. That woman has a sassy mouth. I swear, some days I think I need to keep a bar of soap handy for this group of people.
“And we took the class with you, remember?” Cara asks.
“I know, I know, but it’s the first time she’s leaving the house without me,” I say. Surely, as moms themselves, they can understand my hesitation?
Cara, seeing the look on my face, puts her fork down on her empty plate and walks over. Because of her belly bump, she has to hug me from the side, but she does it anyway, saying, “We’ve got this, Trinity. Go and be with that man before he busts a nut or something.” I roll my eyes at her because once he figures out that I’ve got nothing to offer, he’ll be bailing on me.
