“I wish it was, too. I made you some tea. Hopefully, it can calm you down,” Paul said.
“Nah, I need a blunt,” I answered matter-of-factly.
Paul grinned and pulled a baggy of the best weed. He began rolling up as I sat up. My head was throbbing from crying. I got up and walked towards the bathroom medicine cabinet. I needed something for this headache.
Once I downed two Motrin’s, I made my way back into the living room and was ready to smoke. I just wanted to numb the pain that I was feeling. While we smoked, Paul and I talked for hours, nonstop. I felt like I was floating on thin air. I was so relaxed that the tears finally stopped falling and I was able to go more than five minutes without crying.
“Nigga really like you, Gabriela, but you gotta let go of your baby daddy. That shit ain’t cool,” he said sincerely.
“I like you, too, and I know. I guess when I saw that you and Renee were fuckin’ it opened up my eyes to a lot of shit. I have been chasing after Neron, trying to keep my family together that I never stopped to think about how I was treating Kimora. Granted, I don’t like the bitch anymore, but I’m done trying to make Neron see that I was the perfect woman for him. Now, my focus is just on my daughter. The hell with them both.” I blew out smoke at the same time.
“Well, that’s good to hear because I want you all to myself,” Paul said, placing the blunt down on the ashtray and leaning in, kissing me.
His tongue felt so good that my panties were drenched. He put his hands in my hair as he placed more of his tongue inside my mouth. He laid me down on the couch, never breaking our kiss.
Paul lifted my dress up over my ass and pulled my panties to the side. He began playing with my pussy as I attempted to unbuckle his denim jeans. I was dripping wet as Paul broke our kiss and took off his jeans and boxers. Paul was working with a third leg. His shit was fuckin’ beautiful with all the protruding veins poking out, plus the thickness. Baby was blessed in the love muscle department.
After I had watched Paul glide on the Magnum condom, I draped my legs over his shoulders and he slid inside me. He lowered his head and took my caramel colored nipples into his mouth. It sent me into a frenzy. He softly nibbled on them and it turned me on even more as Paul was stroking me so well. He released my nipples from his mouth and my breasts were jumping up and down. I couldn’t control the moaning as he took my body to ecstasy as he hit every spot imaginable in my cave.
“Yessssss,” I moaned out in pleasure as I fucked him back.
I squeezed my pelvic muscles as Paul continued to fuck me right. I could tell that he was enjoying it as much as I was because his eyes were closed. I couldn’t hold on much longer. The sound of Paul grunting, as I moaned, was like music to my ears. I removed my legs from his shoulders and wrapped them around Paul’s waist as I felt myself reaching my peak.
“I’m coming!” I shouted.
“Ughhhhh,” Paul grumbled as we came together.
Paul fell down on top of me as I wrapped my arms around his sweaty body.
“We’re going to try this shit again. You’re my girl. I ain’t trying to hear shit else,” Paul stated.
“I’m your girl,” I replied smiling.
Chapter 8
Kimora
I sat on the plane as I stared at my sleeping son. I was able to catch a red-eye flight to Miami. I needed to get away. A person doesn’t realize how hard you ride for them until you park. I couldn’t believe Neron actually walked out on me after I gave him an ultimatum. Gabriela had ruined our lives. I couldn’t deal with this shit. She will never leave us alone. A tear slipped out of my eye and I quickly wiped it away. I was mentally drained and I just couldn’t take it anymore. Before we boarded the plane, Neron had called over five times, left numerous text messages and one voice mail. I just wasn’t ready to face him yet so; I ignored his texts and voicemails. I called Adrienne on the way to the airport and she agreed to come and pick me up. She was seriously the sweetest stepmother I could ever ask for.
After the plane had touched down, I powered back on my cell phone. I had missed calls from my mother, Neron and his parents. He must’ve been calling everyone to try to locate me. I placed my phone inside my purse and made my way to baggage claim. After retrieving my bags, I spotted Adrienne. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
“Oh my God,” I said excitingly. “You’re pregnant!” I rubbed her baby bump.
Adrienne beamed as I admired her growing belly.
“Why didn’t you tell me? That means you were pregnant at my shower,” I said, hugging her.
“We didn’t want to jinx it. I’ve always had fertility issues and I didn’t want to say anything until we reached the second trimester, but we’re having twins,” she said cheesing.
“Oh my God! I’m so excited and surprised! How are daddy and Kennard? Are they excited?” I asked.
Adrienne bent down and kissed my son on the forehead. Jr. slept like a grown man working a forty-hour workweek. I guess it was a good thing. He was definitely a good baby.
“They’re beyond excited. Your father is so overprotective of everything I do. It’s cute, though. I always wanted kids, so I was surprised he wanted to try and conceive since you’re grown and Kennard is just about, but he didn’t mind starting over,” Adrienne replied.
I was so happy for my stepmother. She was perfect for daddy. Just thinking about her happiness suddenly made me realize I was running around from Neron because of our relationship problems. I needed to get out of the airport before I started crying. Adrienne sensed my sadness and grabbed Junior’s luggage since it was light enough for her to carry. We made our way outside to her car. Once we were ready to pull off, the water works came and I couldn’t stop crying.
“What’s going on, baby?” Adrienne asked, pulling into traffic.
“It’s Neron’s baby mama from hell, Gabriela. I can’t take it anymore. When she calls, he’s there. He’ll drop everything and run to her beck and call. I know it’s not his daughters fault, but Gaby does that shit on purpose. She does it to piss me off and be spiteful. I love Neron, but I can’t deal anymore. I don’t know what to do. I just want to be happy,” I confessed. I blinked away tears that fell down my cheeks.
“I’m so sorry, baby girl. You just have to ask yourself if the good times outweigh the bad. Can you stand the rain with him? From what I saw at the baby shower, he’s a good man. He’s a great father too. He just has a woman that’s in love with him. He needs to find a healthy balance to co-parent with Gabriela. I’m not going to tell you what to do, but I will support you in whatever decision you make,” Adrienne said as we drove in silence.
I pondered her response and stared out the window.
We pulled into my parent’s horseshoe driveway and my cell phone was ringing nonstop. It was my mother.
“Hello,” I said softly into the phone.
“Baby, are you okay? Where are you? Neron’s looking for you,” my mother said all in one breath.
“I needed a break from Neron. I’m okay. We’re in Miami,” I responded.
“Mora, you should at least call him, so he knows you and his son are safe,” she replied.
“I will. Look, Mama, I gotta go. I’ll call you later,” I said, staring at the home I grew up in after moving from Jacksonville.
“I love you too.”
My parent’s home was truly timeless in its elegance and craftsmanship. We had a horseshoe driveway, which had a palatial Banyan tree as the centerpiece of the lush grounds along with a koi pond, waterfall, and two-story pool house. Our house also included an extraordinary master suite, dual dining rooms, and a gymnasium.
Adrienne cut off the car and stared at me. “You know, before I met your father, I dealt with a baby mama similar to Gabriela,” she scoffed, remembering her past.
“Why did you guys break up?” I asked.
“We actually didn’t break up because of his baby mother, but because I met your father. He swept me off my feet and the guy I was dating at the ti
me decided that he wanted to make things work with the mother of his kids. They had three kids together, girl,” Adrienne said, shaking her head. “Always remember, Gabriela loved him and probably still does. Her heart is broken because he doesn’t love her back. She doesn’t like you because she’s a bitter ex, harboring ill feelings; and because she can’t have him and hasn’t moved on, she focuses her resentment towards you. There’s nothing you can do about that except ignore her and try not to take it personally baby.”
I sat, listening intently as she continued talking.
“Just try your best to keep your distance and allow Gabriela time to get over it. Sometimes these things just don’t make any sense, so trying to make sense of it will only make you feel crazy. Once you realize this woman may never like you, it might be hard to keep your mouth shut if she pops off on you for no good reason. As tempting as it may be to give her the business let Neron do the talking when it comes to her. Arguing with her will only escalate the situation, and if she knows how to push your buttons, she can trigger a situation where she can actually cause conflict between you and him. Let him handle her. The last thing you both need is to be fighting over something Gabriela said or did, so tell him what upsets you and then see what he does. If he doesn’t do anything, then this might not be the relationship for you. Your feelings are just as valid as hers, but give him a chance to be a man and handle his business and keep your comments to yourself. He needs to set boundaries. The baby is what? Ten weeks? He’s still fairly new at this baby, so give him some time to get it right.”
Adrienne was talking some good shit. Maybe I was too hard on Neron. I was just tired of Gabriela. It seemed like it was a never-ending battle with her. I loved Neron; I was deeply in love with him. I needed to call him. I needed to make this right.
After grabbing my luggage and my son, we made our way into the house. Everything was still as it was the day I flew here to tie up loose ends. It was still fairly early in the morning, so everyone was still sleeping. Adrienne kissed me on the cheek and excused herself to go back to sleep. I thanked her for coming to pick me up from the airport. I needed to call Neron, but first I needed to change and feed my child.
After getting Jr. settled and comfy, I dialed Neron’s number. The phone rang once before he answered.
“Kimora, baby, are you and our son okay? What in the hell is going on? I’ve been calling everybody for you,” he said worriedly.
“I’m sorry. I just needed to clear my head. I didn’t mean to make you worry, but I can’t deal with Gabriela. I can’t take it anymore,” I responded.
“So, you’re trying to leave me? Kimora, you aren’t going no damn where. I love you and my son. I love my daughter, too. You can fuss and fight, but I ain’t letting you go anywhere. So, take some time to get your mind right before I fly to Miami and bring you back home myself,” Neron stated.
Damn, that shit was sexy. He was turning me on and didn’t even know it.
“Look, I just need some time to myself, Neron. I gotta go,” I replied, hanging up on him before he could respond.
I shook my head as I plopped down on the sofa. I needed to take a nap. I had so much on my mind. I drifted off to sleep for about an hour when I heard Kennard call my name. My brother was getting taller than me and he was just a teenager!
“Hey sis, what are you doing here?” he asked, surprised.
Kennard had skin the color of honey with our Daddy’s best known physical trait – long eyelashes. He rocked cornrows but had hair so curly and soft that his braids had to get redone often, but you could tell that he just got his hair freshly braided. I smiled at him.
“Hey bro, I just needed a little vacation. Why are you up so early?” I asked, looking at him grinning.
“Some of us still have school,” he said laughing.
“Oh, yeah, that’s right. Well, have a good day,” I said, standing up to hug him.
“Thanks, sis. Will you be here when I get back?” he asked.
“Yeah, I will be.” I picked up my son, who just woke up.
“Cool,” said Kennard as he made silly faces at his nephew.
Junior must’ve thought he was hilarious because he started cooing, blowing spit bubbles as he showcased his toothless smile. I smirked seeing the two of them interact.
“Well, I gotta go, I’ll see you later.” Kennard grabbed his schoolbooks.
I sat back down and played with my son when my father walked into the room. I was so happy to see him.
“Hey, daughter. Adrienne told me what’s going on. Are you okay?” he asked.
I stood up and gave him a big hug. “I’m okay, I guess. I just needed to get away, but you’re looking good, Daddy. You’re all in shape.”
“Your stepmother is cooking me healthy meals. I feel good too. Thank you, baby, but you know our door is always open,” he said, grabbing his grandson.
“Thanks, Daddy.”
Daddy worked from home and kept Jr. for the rest of the day. I took the time to do some retail therapy. Shopping always made a girl feel better about things. So, I shopped till I dropped, got my nails done and even a massage.
I got back to the house around 8 pm and couldn’t wait to see my son. I hated being away from him. I was starting to really miss Neron and it had only been a few hours since I’d been away from him.
I walked into the house with tons of shopping bags. I sat them down in front of the door and walked into the kitchen to get some water. After grabbing a bottle of water, I made me way into the living room where I heard my father’s voice. I damn near dropped my bottle of water when I saw Neron sitting on the couch, holding our son while Adrienne held Magdalena! Everyone looked up and stopped talking when they spotted me.
“N—Neron, what are you—you doing here?” I stammered.
Neron passed our son to my father as he and Adrienne stood up and walked out of the room to give Neron and me some time to talk.
“I know you’re surprised to see me, but I had to come and get my family back. When I got back home, I went to work, baby. I need you and my son in my life. I went and filed for sole custody of Magdalena. I also got a restraining order on Gabriela. She’s not going to interfere with us anymore,” he pleaded.
Damn, he looked too good as he stood before me.
“I realized that I need to let you be a man. I just want you to find a balance, baby. I sometimes feel like she comes first and she’s just the baby mama, but I’m glad that you took the intuitive to get sole custody. I just want our life back without her always interfering,” I replied with misty eyes.
“Kimora Kya Murphy, I know my life will never be complete without you beside me to share it. Life offers many challenges. I know I can meet them if you're willing to face them with me. When I think about you, I know that no one else will ever hold my heart the way you do. Let's put our hearts into each other's hands for life. Will you marry me, girl?” He asked smiling.
“I already asked your father for his blessing too,” he added.
“Oh my God, baby, yes—yes—YES!” I yelled with excitement.
I jumped into Neron’s arms and kissed him all over his face. He slowly planted my feet on the floor and I was expecting him to place a ring on my finger, but he didn’t.
“Here,” he said, passing me a cute bright green box with a silver bow on it.
I looked at him suspiciously, as I opened the box. I was instantly confused when I saw a key with a beautiful ring looped to it.
“What’s this?” I asked smiling. Neron smiled as he gently grabbed the box from me.
He ignored my question as he slid on an 18kt white gold diamond engagement ring. It was flawless!
“Baby, I love it so much,” I beamed. I held my arm out in front of me, admiring my rock. “But, what’s the key?” I asked.
“This key is to our new home that I bought a week ago. I wanted to give it to you under a more romantic setting, but I want to give my kids and you the best. I love you,” Neron said.
“I
love you, too,” I said, grinning as we stood in the living room kissing.
“Congratulations, baby girl!”
I turned around and Adrienne and my father were standing behind us with such proud expressions on their faces.
I smiled from cheek to cheek because for the first time in a minute, besides having my son, I was happy.
“This calls for a celebration!” Adrienne said enthusiastically.
Once Kennard got home from school, he was ecstatic to learn that Neron would be his brother in law. Daddy treated us to a beautiful five-star dinner at Barton G. We were dressed to perfection. The atmosphere was classy and elegant. I was surprised that both babies did exceptionally well too. They didn’t cry one bit, thank God! The food was exquisite and tasty. I had the lobster pop tarts, which were to die for and voodoo shrimp rolls. Now, Neron, his ass ordered south side short ribs. Hell, he ordered ribs everywhere we went!
Daddy was really excited about the twins Adrienne was carrying. I still couldn’t believe that my father was starting all over and having more kids, but he was a great dad. I knew he would raise my siblings just as well as he had with Kennard and me, maybe even better. We had a great time at the restaurant and it was nice to have a night out without any drama or Gabriela lurking around somewhere.
“Thanks for everything, Daddy,” I said once we made it back home.
“Yes, again, thank you, sir. I really wish you would’ve allowed me to pay the tab or at least contribute to the bill,” Neron said.
“Nonsense, it was my pleasure. It was my treat to celebrate you two’s engagement,” said Daddy.
He hugged me tightly and I kissed him on the cheek.
“Mr. Murphy, your daughter, is in good hands and your grandson too,” he added.
“You mean grandkids,” my father said grinning. “You know I’ve already got attached to Magdalena and you’re marrying my daughter. Your daughter is family,” said Daddy sincerely.
“Thank you so much, sir. I appreciate that,” he added.
“Well, let’s all get some shut eye. You guys have an early flight in the morning,” Adrienne interrupted.
