“Yes, I did have plans. No, this takes precedence.” He raised an eyebrow to confirm his statement and she readily nodded.
His bear was out in full force, his eyes pure black and a light dusting of fur covered his cheeks. Whatever had him this upset was definitely more important. They had the rest of their lives. The situation needed him now.
Van cradled the phone between his ear and shoulder, holding out his hands for the pen and paper. She quickly closed the distance between them, handing it over in an instant.
He took the supplies from her and tugged her close, wrapping an arm around her waist, pulling her against him.
That’s when she noticed two things—his cock was rock hard and the tension in him had nothing to do with worry.
“Van?”
He dropped the pen and paper then snared the phone and shoved it at her. “Got you.” He winked and tossed her over his shoulder once again.
“Damn it, Van!”
“Language!” Mia’s yelled at her through the phone.
Van popped her ass.
“What the fuck?”
“Language.”
Smack.
This was fucking ridiculous.
“Language!”
“Oh, for the love of… Fuck you very much, Itana. Van, put my fucking, fuckity fuck ass down and quit spanking it or so help me…”
Distantly, she recognized that Mia was yelling “language” a lot, but her attention was solely focused on the hand on her ass and the way his spanks felt oh so good.
Lauren noted that he carried her down the hallway and toward their bedroom, each step bringing them closer and closer to the greatest thing ever—a bed.
“Are you listening to me?” Mia screeched.
She brought the phone to her ear. “Not so much, no. I’m pretty sure some major boinkage is gonna happen so…”
“But… Your surprise…”
“Itana, I need a night with the man I love.” Lauren gasped, air suddenly rushing into her lungs as Van tossed her onto the bed. “Whatever it is, it’s not more important than three little words.”
As she said the words, basically told her Itana to go to hell, Lauren accepted the truth behind the statement. She tossed the phone aside, not caring where it landed or if Mia still listened.
The thing she cherished most in the world stood before her. He stripped, peeling layer after layer from his body and exposing more and more muscle and skin.
There was nothing more important than love—pure, unconditional love.
And growling against her pink bits.
Thankfully, with Van, she got both.
