  6Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,

  Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

  7A thousand may fall at your side,

  And ten thousand at your right hand;

  But it shall not come near you.

  8Only gwith your eyes shall you look,

  And see the reward of the wicked.

  9Because you have made the LORD, who is hmy refuge,

  Even the Most High, iyour dwelling place,

  10jNo evil shall befall you,

  Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;

  11kFor He shall give His angels charge over you,

  To keep you in all your ways.

  12In their hands they shall 3bear you up,

  lLest you 4dash your foot against a stone.

  13You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,

  The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.

  14“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;

  I will 5set him on high, because he has mknown My name.

  15He shall ncall upon Me, and I will answer him;

  I will be owith him in trouble;

  I will deliver him and honor him.

  16With 6long life I will satisfy him,

  And show him My salvation.”

  Psalm 92

  Praise to the LORD for His Love and Faithfulness

  A Psalm. A Song for the Sabbath day.

  1IT is agood to give thanks to the LORD,

  And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;

  2To bdeclare Your lovingkindness in the morning,

  And Your faithfulness every night,

  3cOn an instrument of ten strings,

  On the lute,

  And on the harp,

  With harmonious sound.

  4For You, LORD, have made me glad through Your work;

  I will triumph in the works of Your hands.

  5dO LORD, how great are Your works!

  eYour thoughts are very deep.

  6fA senseless man does not know,

  Nor does a fool understand this.

  7When gthe wicked 1spring up like grass,

  And when all the workers of iniquity flourish,

  It is that they may be destroyed forever.

  8hBut You, LORD, are on high forevermore.

  9For behold, Your enemies, O LORD,

  For behold, Your enemies shall perish;

  All the workers of iniquity shall ibe scattered.

  10But jmy 2horn You have exalted like a wild ox;

  I have been kanointed with fresh oil.

  11lMy eye also has seen my desire on my enemies;

  My ears hear my desire on the wicked

  Who rise up against me.

  12mThe righteous shall flourish like a palm tree,

  He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

  13Those who are planted in the house of the LORD

  Shall flourish in the courts of our God.

  14They shall still bear fruit in old age;

  They shall be 3fresh and 4flourishing,

  15To declare that the LORD is upright;

  nHe is my rock, and othere is no unrighteousness in Him.

  Psalm 93

  The Eternal Reign of the LORD

  1The aLORD reigns, He is clothed with majesty;

  The LORD is clothed,

  bHe has girded Himself with strength.

  Surely the world is established, so that it cannot be 1moved.

  2cYour throne is established from of old;

  You are from everlasting.

  3The floods have 2lifted up, O LORD,

  The floods have lifted up their voice;

  The floods lift up their waves.

  4dThe LORD on high is mightier

  Than the noise of many waters,

  Than the mighty waves of the sea.

  5Your testimonies are very sure;

  Holiness adorns Your house,

  O LORD, 3forever.

  Psalm 94

  God the Refuge of the Righteous

  1O LORD God, ato whom vengeance belongs—

  O God, to whom vengeance belongs, shine forth!

  2Rise up, O bJudge of the earth;

  1Render punishment to the proud.

  3LORD, chow long will the wicked,

  How long will the wicked triumph?

  4They dutter speech, and speak insolent things;

  All the workers of iniquity boast in themselves.

  5They break in pieces Your people, O LORD,

  And afflict Your heritage.

  6They slay the widow and the stranger,

  And murder the fatherless.

  7eYet they say, “The LORD does not see,

  Nor does the God of Jacob 2understand.”

  8Understand, you senseless among the people;

  And you fools, when will you be wise?

  9fHe who planted the ear, shall He not hear?

  He who formed the eye, shall He not see?

  10He who 3instructs the 4nations, shall He not correct,

  He who teaches man knowledge?

  11The LORD gknows the thoughts of man,

  That they are futile.

  12Blessed is the man whom You hinstruct, O LORD,

  And teach out of Your law,

  13That You may give him 5rest from the days of adversity,

  Until the pit is dug for the wicked.

  14For the LORD will not 6cast off His people,

  Nor will He forsake His inheritance.

  15But judgment will return to righteousness,

  And all the upright in heart will follow it.

  16Who will rise up for me against the evildoers?

  Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?

  17Unless the LORD had been my help,

  My soul would soon have settled in silence.

  18If I say, “My foot slips,”

  Your mercy, O LORD, will hold me up.

  19In the multitude of my anxieties within me,

  Your comforts delight my soul.

  20Shall ithe throne of iniquity, which devises evil by law,

  Have fellowship with You?

  21They gather together against the life of the righteous,

  And condemn jinnocent blood.

  22But the LORD has been my defense,

  And my God the rock of my refuge.

  23He has brought on them their own iniquity,

  And shall 7cut them off in their own wickedness;

  The LORD our God shall cut them off. Christ in the Psalms (Luke 24:44)

  Psalm 95

  A Call to Worship and Obedience

  1Oh come, let us sing to the LORD!

  Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.

  2Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving;

  Let us shout joyfully to Him with apsalms.

  3For bthe LORD is the great God,

  And the great King above all gods.

  41In His hand are the deep places of the earth;

  The heights of the hills are His also.

  5cThe sea is His, for He made it;

  And His hands formed the dry land.

  6Oh come, let us worship and bow down;

  Let dus kneel before the LORD our Maker.

  7For He is our God,

  And ewe are the people of His pasture,

  And the sheep 2of His hand.

  fToday, if you will hear His voice:

  8“Do not harden your hearts, as in the 3rebellion,

  gAs in the day of 4trial in the wilderness,

  9When hyour fathers tested Me;

  They tried Me, though they isaw My work.

  10For jforty years I was 5grieved with that generation,

  And said, ‘It is a people who go astray in their hearts,

  And they do not know My ways.’

  11So kI swore in My wrath,

  ‘They shall not enter My rest.’ ”

  Psalm 96

&
nbsp; A Song of Praise to God Coming in Judgment

  (1 Chr. 16:23–33)

  1Oh, asing to the LORD a new song!

  Sing to the LORD, all the earth.

  2Sing to the LORD, bless His name;

  Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.

  3Declare His glory among the 1nations,

  His wonders among all peoples.

  4For bthe LORD is great and cgreatly to be praised;

  dHe is to be feared above all gods.

  5For eall the gods of the peoples are idols,

  fBut the LORD made the heavens.

  6Honor and majesty are before Him;

  Strength and gbeauty are in His sanctuary.

  7hGive2 to the LORD, O families of the peoples,

  Give to the LORD glory and strength.

  83Give to the LORD the glory due His name;

  Bring an offering, and come into His courts.

  9Oh, worship the LORD iin the beauty of holiness!

  Tremble before Him, all the earth.

  10Say among the 4nations, j“The LORD reigns;

  The world also is firmly established,

  It shall not be 5moved;

  kHe shall judge the peoples righteously.”

  11lLet the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad;

  mLet the sea roar, and 6all its fullness;

  12Let the field be joyful, and all that is in it.

  Then all the trees of the woods will rejoice before the LORD.

  13For He is coming, for He is coming to judge the earth.

  nHe shall judge the world with righteousness,

  And the peoples with His truth.

  Psalm 97

  A Song of Praise to the Sovereign LORD

  1The LORD areigns;

  Let the earth rejoice;

  Let the multitude of 1isles be glad!

  2bClouds and darkness surround Him;

  cRighteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.

  3dA fire goes before Him,

  And burns up His enemies round about.

  4eHis lightnings light the world;

  The earth sees and trembles.

  5fThe mountains melt like wax at the presence of the LORD,

  At the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

  6gThe heavens declare His righteousness,

  And all the peoples see His glory.

  7hLet all be put to shame who serve carved images,

  Who boast of idols.

  iWorship Him, all you gods.

  8Zion hears and is glad,

  And the daughters of Judah rejoice

  Because of Your judgments, O LORD.

  9For You, LORD, are jmost high above all the earth;

  kYou are exalted far above all gods.

  10You who love the LORD, lhate evil!

  mHe preserves the souls of His saints;

  nHe delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.

  11oLight is sown for the righteous,

  And gladness for the upright in heart.

  12pRejoice in the LORD, you righteous,

  qAnd give thanks 2at the remembrance of 3His holy name.

  Psalm 98

  A Song of Praise to the LORD for His Salvation and Judgment

  A Psalm.

  1Oh, asing to the LORD a new song!

  For He has bdone marvelous things;

  His right hand and His holy arm have gained Him the victory.

  2cThe LORD has made known His salvation;

  dHis righteousness He has revealed in the sight of the 1nations.

  3He has remembered His mercy and His faithfulness to the house of Israel;

  eAll the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

  4Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth;

  Break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises.

  5Sing to the LORD with the harp,

  With the harp and the sound of a psalm,

  6With trumpets and the sound of a horn;

  Shout joyfully before the LORD, the King.

  7Let the sea roar, and all its fullness,

  The world and those who dwell in it;

  8Let the rivers clap their hands;

  Let the hills be joyful together before the LORD,

  9fFor He is coming to judge the earth.

  With righteousness He shall judge the world,

  And the peoples with 2equity.

  Psalm 99

  Praise to the LORD for His Holiness

  1The LORD reigns;

  Let the peoples tremble!

  aHe dwells between the cherubim;

  Let the earth be 1moved!

  2The LORD is great in Zion,

  And He is high above all the peoples.

  3Let them praise Your great and awesome name—

  2He is holy.

  4The King’s strength also loves justice;

  You have established equity;

  You have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob.

  5Exalt the LORD our God,

  And worship at His footstool—

  He is holy.

  6Moses and Aaron were among His priests,

  And Samuel was among those who bcalled upon His name;

  They called upon the LORD, and He answered them.

  7He spoke to them in the cloudy pillar;

  They kept His testimonies and the 3ordinance He gave them.

  8You answered them, O LORD our God;

  You were to them God-Who-Forgives,

  Though You took vengeance on their deeds.

  9Exalt the LORD our God,

  And worship at His holy hill;

  For the LORD our God is holy.

  Psalm 100

  A Song of Praise for the LORD’s Faithfulness to His People

  aA Psalm of Thanksgiving.

  1Make ba joyful shout to the LORD, 1all you lands!

  2Serve the LORD with gladness;

  Come before His presence with singing.

  3Know that the LORD, He is God;

  cIt is He who has made us, and 2not we ourselves;

  dWe are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

  4eEnter into His gates with thanksgiving,

  And into His courts with praise.

  Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.

  5For the LORD is good;

  fHis mercy is everlasting,

  And His truth endures to all generations.

  Psalm 101

  Promised Faithfulness to the LORD

  A Psalm of David.

  1I WILL sing of mercy and justice;

  To You, O LORD, I will sing praises.

  2I will behave wisely in a 1perfect way.

  Oh, when will You come to me?

  I will awalk within my house with a perfect heart.

  3I will set nothing 2wicked before my eyes;

  bI hate the work of those cwho fall away;

  It shall not cling to me.

  4A perverse heart shall depart from me;

  I will not dknow wickedness.

  5Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor,

  Him I will destroy;

  eThe one who has a haughty look and a proud heart,

  Him I will not endure.

  6My eyes shall be on the faithful of the land,

  That they may dwell with me;

  He who walks in a 3perfect way,

  He shall serve me.

  7He who works deceit shall not dwell within my house;

  He who tells lies shall not 4continue in my presence.

  8fEarly I will destroy all the wicked of the land,

  That I may cut off all the evildoers gfrom the city of the LORD.

  Psalm 102

  The LORD’s Eternal Love

  A Prayer of the afflicted, awhen he is overwhelmed and pours out his complaint before the LORD.

  1Hear my prayer, O LORD,

  And let my cry come to You.

  2bDo not hide Your face from me in the day of my trouble;

  In
cline Your ear to me;

  In the day that I call, answer me speedily.

  3For my days 1are cconsumed like smoke,

  And my bones are burned like a hearth.

  4My heart is stricken and withered like grass,

  So that I forget to eat my bread.

  5Because of the sound of my groaning

  My bones cling to my 2skin.

  6I am like a pelican of the wilderness;

  I am like an owl of the desert.

  7I lie awake,

  And am like a sparrow alone on the housetop.

  8My enemies reproach me all day long;

  Those who deride me swear an oath against me.

  9For I have eaten ashes like bread,

  And mingled my drink with weeping,

  10Because of Your indignation and Your wrath;

  For You have lifted me up and cast me away.

  11My days are like a shadow that lengthens,

  And I wither away like grass.

  12But You, O LORD, shall endure forever,

  And the remembrance of Your name to all generations.

  13You will arise and have mercy on Zion;

  For the time to favor her,

  Yes, the set time, has come.

  14For Your servants take pleasure in her stones,

  And show favor to her dust.

  15So the 3nations shall dfear the name of the LORD,

  And all the kings of the earth Your glory.

  16For the LORD shall build up Zion;

  eHe shall appear in His glory.

  17fHe shall regard the prayer of the destitute,

  And shall not despise their prayer.

  18This will be gwritten for the generation to come,

  That ha people yet to be created may praise the LORD.

  19For He ilooked down from the height of His sanctuary;

  From heaven the LORD viewed the earth,

  20jTo hear the groaning of the prisoner,

  To release those appointed to death,

  21To kdeclare the name of the LORD in Zion,

  And His praise in Jerusalem,

  22lWhen the peoples are gathered together,

  And the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.

  23He weakened my strength in the way;

  He mshortened my days.

  24nI said, “O my God,

  Do not take me away in the midst of my days;

  oYour years are throughout all generations.

  25pOf old You laid the foundation of the earth,

  And the heavens are the work of Your hands.

  26qThey will perish, but You will 4endure;

  Yes, they will all grow old like a garment;

  Like a cloak You will change them,
