Daddy's Angel (Montana Daddies Book 7) Page 27

by Laylah Roberts

He put her on her feet, holding her shoulders until she was steady. Then she felt him move behind her.

“Gonna take the bandana off. But keep your eyes closed for a second.”

  “Okay, Daddy.”

The bandana was untied, and she kept her eyes close.

  “Open,” he commanded.

She opened her eyes, blinking a few times to clear her vision. Then she gasped in delight, clapping her hands. “Daddy! A swing! For me?”

  He grinned. “All for you.”

It had a large wooden seat, almost long enough for two people and was hanging from a large tree in their backyard.

  “You like?”

“It’s amazing! I love it!” She couldn’t believe he’d remembered that she said swings were her favorite.

Then again, it was Bain. He didn’t miss much.

“Can you push me in it, Daddy?”

“Of course. But got something else to show you too.”

Something else? He turned her and she gasped. In the clearing there was a big pile of huge, outdoor cushions set up, partially covered in a number of thick blankets. With more cushions at one end. Behind the nest was a projector set on a table. And at the other end there was a portable screen.

“For movies. And to lay under the stars once it’s dark. But no sleeping out here. Too cold for that,” he warned sternly.

She turned then threw herself at him. He caught her, barely moving at her impact.

“Thank you, Daddy! Thank you! Thank you!”

“You’re welcome. Anything for my angel.”

  “How did you do this?”

“Had a bit of help while you slept,” he admitted.

  “Push me? Please!”

She climbed onto the swing, wincing slightly as she sat on her hot ass. But she soon forgot about that as he drew her back, letting her go.

  “Higher! Higher!” she squealed.

  “Not too high,” he warned.

  Party pooper.

But he pushed her for ages. Until he claimed his arms were tired. She didn’t believe that for a second. But she wasn’t too disappointed since she got to watch a movie outside.

He carried her over to the big pile of cushions, since she had no shoes on and set her down on the cushions.

“It’s so comfy! What are we watching?”

“Here, get settled under the blankets.” He held some blankets up and she snuggled in. He stood and walked back to the projector. The screen lit up and she let out an excited cry.

  “Shrek!”

  “Thought you might like it.”

“Quick, Daddy, get in, it’s gonna start!”

He climbed in under the blankets with her, pulling her into him so her head was resting on his chest.

When the movie was finished, the screen went dark.

“Look up at the sky,” Bain murmured.

Oh. She hadn’t even noticed that it had grown dark. She let out a contented sigh as she stared up. “There they are. The stars.”

“Yep. It’s just you, me, the quiet and the stars.”

This was her happy place. And it had nothing to do with the stars and mountains. The trees and quiet.

No, her happy place was him.
