  Her lips twitch upward.

  “Oh?’

“It’s a husbands’ job to undress his wife on their wedding night.”

Her nostrils flare and her breathing speeds up. I grab the tiny zipper and gently pull down, parting the cream material to reveal an intricate white corset that has me drooling. I slid the dress down to the floor. “Step out and leave the heels on.” She grips my shoulder as she carefully steps out of the puddle of material. I lean forward and bite her round ass. She jumps and squeaks. I chuckle as I palm her cheeks and massage her plump cheeks.

“You got a nice fanny, love.”

“I have a little too much fanny.”

“Oh no, it’s perfect.” I stand and move to the chair where I drape the gown. The tiny white panties have me straining against my trousers. All curves and soft skin, she looks like a pin-up in her matching corset, panties, and stockings. Her heels are a soft pink that makes her calves look edible. She shifts her weight, and I groan as the movement draws attention to something I missed.

  “Crotchless?”

“The clerk insisted on the easy access.”

“Remind me to send her flowers. I kneel and crook my finger. “Come here, love. I’m suddenly famished. I think I need a snack.” She walks over and stops with her hands on her hips.

“Are you sure? It’s a big meal?”

I grip her thighs and part her legs further. “I’m positive.” I latch on. A man starved as I grip her as and go to work. She tugs at my hair and grinds her face against my mouth. I want her breathless and wanting. I flick her swollen bundle of nerves, and she cries out, creaming for me. I continue to lap at her, as she shakes, and I support her weight. I wrap my arm around her hips and thrust a finger into her slick, tight, heat. She whimpers and flexes her muscles. I add another finger and tilt my wrist.

  “Ride my fingers, Thena.”

She digs her fingers into my shoulders and drives down. I growl as the wet sound fills the room.

“That’s my girl, take it. She’s beautiful with her head tilted back, and her lips parted and passion radiating off her in waves.

  “Fie.”

“I’m right here baby. Are you going to come for me?”

“Oh god, Yes, yes, Yes.” She splinters, shaking as I hold her hips to keep her on her feet. When the trembles die down, I take her mouth once more and walk us to the bed. Her legs hit the back, and she falls down. Her breasts bounce as she crawls back onto the bed and I quickly shed my clothing. I crawl onto the bed and cup her mound. I stroke her clit and she taps my thigh.

“I want to taste you too.”

I kneel, and she lays across the bed giving me access to her pussy as she takes my prick. The site of my cock disappearing between her pink lips makes me twitch. She bobs her head as she takes me deep and I rock my hips as I drive inside her with two fingers, stretching and teasing. She spreads her legs wider, moaning. The vibrations travel up my length, and I fist her hair, urging her to move faster. The tingles travel up my spine, and I pull her away.

“Any longer and I’ll be coming before I’m ready to.” I kiss her softly as I pull her to the bed and roll her onto her side. I rub my length between her wet lips, coating my dick.

“You’re soaked. You want me inside your pussy bad, don’t you?”

  “Yes.” She whispers.

“I couldn’t hear you.” I tap her clit with my head.

“Yes.” She cries out. “Much better. You know I like to hear you, Thena.” I nip her neck, and she thrusts her ass back against me. She circles her hips, and I grip them tight, stilling her as slowly ease inside her. “Easy baby. I don’t want to hurt you. Fuck, you’re so tight.” I grip her ass, tilting her as we come together.

  “Harder Fie.”

I give her more with every stroke until her body yields completely, and I bottom out.

“Hold those legs back.” I sink deeper. Jesus Christ. “Just like that.” I cage her in with arms as I press my body to hers, bearing my own weight as I dig out her pussy.

“So good, Fie. So good.” Her voice is shrill and breathy.

“I’m going to make you come, so hard.” I thrust into her fast and pull out.

“Oh. Oh.” Her pussy pulses and I pull out as she squirts. “You’re so sexy when you squirt for me.” I push back in, and she grips the sheets as she snaps her hips up. “You going to do it again for me?” I fuck her harder, finding the angle that hits her spot. Her legs tremble.

  “Fie. I’m going to.”

“Yes.” I pull out, and she rewards me with droplets. Lights are dancing behind my eyelids, and my balls are drawing up. I pump into her and she contracts. I thrust through her orgasm and pull out spraying onto her belly. She purrs, and I rub the pearly liquid into her skin.

“Rest. It’s going to be a long night.”

  ATHENA

  “Mom are you happy?”

I peer up at my son, and the torment in his eyes hits me like a sucker punch.

“Yes and no. We have a chance for a fresh start. You’ll get to know your Dad, and I.” I what?

“Get to be happy with him?” Kier fills in the blanks. The answer is simple but poignant.

I nod my head. “Yes. We’re going to try to be. Does that bother you?”

His brow wrinkles. “I just don’t understand. If Papa was so powerful, why couldn’t he take care of this guy who hurt Alfie?”

I close my eyes. “When it came to me Dad could be extremely unreasonable. No one was good enough.”

  “Wait. He didn’t know?”

“Not at first. We kept it hidden from him for two years.’

  “What!”

“Boy, where do you think you get your sly tendencies from?” I ask as I arch an eyebrow.

“Myself,” he mumbles making me laugh.

  “Right.”

“When did he find out? What happened?”

The shattering of the glass window made my stomach sour. The alarm blares. To be this brazen, they’re set on one of two things, murder or a kidnapping. I stand as I picture the gun in the nightstand. “Go to your father’s room and get in the closet,” I whisper.

“What? Mom. No. I’m not leaving you.”

“Now, Kieron.” I deepen my voice and meet his gaze. He runs off down the hall, and I follow as I his footsteps, never turning my back. I slid into the room, and pull the .45 out of the drawer. It’s not my favorite. It feels wrong in my hands, bulkier and heavier than my Glock 9 with the specialized handle grip I prefer. I stand my ground in front of the closet and strain to hear what’ going on. A single set of boots pound over the floor. Maybe I read this wrong. This could be nothing more than a disgruntled person looking to do some damage and leave a message behind for Alfie.

A loud bang makes me jump. There are three rooms before Alfie. The bang comes again. He’s sweeping the rooms. I got something for you behind room number four, fucker. I crack my neck and roll my shoulders, as I blank out the way my Dad taught me. The only thing I’m worried about is stopping him before he comes near my soon. The alarm has a voice coming through, asking me if I need assistance. The boots stop just shy of the room. They begin to retreat, and I give chase. I have to know who did this. I skid around the corner and see the lithe frame all in in black.

  “Stop.” I bark.

He continues to run, and I aim at his leg and shoot. He stumbles and peers back at me. Hi, eyes are a stunning green full of rage. He lifts his arm, and I duck back inside the house. The shot never comes. A sickening thud does. I look back out and find a furious Alfie behind the wheel of his Black BMV. A body sized dent now rests on the hood. He steps out of the car, with Ifan on his heels. Ifan kicks the dazed man’s gun further away, and Alfie lifts him up by his collar.

“You’re going to tell me who the fuck you are and why you targeted my house.”

“Get him in the basement, I’ll handle this,” Ifan says.

“You come here and threaten my family?” Alfie asks. O
ne massive fist to the man’s chin. His head flops back. He’s out cold. Alfie lifts his head, and our gazes meet. “Get into the house. Where’s Kier.”

  “In your closet.”

“Good girl.” He drags the man’s limp body up the stairs behind me as I run to the room.

  “Kier?”

“Mom.” He barrels toward me, nearly knocking me over off my feet with his momentum. I rock back but remain standing. “What’s going on?”

“I don’t know, but your Dad is going to find out,” I say as I watch them disappear down the stairs that lead to the basement.” Ifan appears like a ghost materializing out of thin air to turn off the alarm. He resets it and speaks with whoever is manning the frequency.

  “You two okay?” he asks.

  I nod.

“This will never happen again. We’ll post men around the house from now on.”

  “Who was he?” I ask.

“We don’t know yet, but I guarantee you by the end of the evening we will. We have men coming over with plywood. The window will be replaced tomorrow.”

“What do you want me to do?”

“Keep it together and stay in your room for now. We’re not sure if you’re a target or not.”

I nod my head. I know how this game is played.

“Come on , Kier. Let’s get out of their way.”

  “Wha!”

“It’s okay. They’re going to take care of him.” I smooth my hand down the back of his head and squeeze his neck lightly. “They know what to do. We need to allow them to do it without us underfoot.”

He shakes his head. “Who are you?”

“A woman who’s used to thinks like this happening. This is exactly why I kept Papa at a distance. I didn’t want this to be a normal occurrence for you.” I steer him back down the hall knowing it’s going to be a long night.

  Alfie

“Are we going to do this the easy way or the hard way?” I ask as I pace the length of the stone floor and struggle to contain my rage. If I beat him to death the way I want to, I won’t get answers. I split his lip and blackened his eyes on principle. The salt bath from a bucket woke him after that.

  “Observing.”

“And you had to get up close and personal to do that, did you?”

“Yes. I needed to be sure.”

  “Sure of what?”

He clamps his mouth shut. I backhand him his head snaps to the right and he grunts. “Don’t give me a reason to start carving you up.”

  “It’s not my call.”

“Then it fucking sucks to be you,” Ifan says.

  “Get me the drill.”

“No, he wants to talk with you. It’s not my place to comment.” I glance at Ifan. He shrugs.

“You can give him the phone. You get one chance with us. You screw me over right now. It’ll be the last thing you do.”

“I understand.” He’s an American with a touch of a Bostonian tone. It doesn’t take any guess work to figure out who sent this fucker. I step back and listen as he rattles off a number and Ifan dials. He holds his phone up to his ears, and the man rattles off in Italian.

“He wants to speak with you.”

“I thought we had a deal.”

“I needed to send eyes to see first-person if you had anything to do with … an event that’s happened here.”

“You came over here and disrespected me in my home. Scared my wife and my son. This isn’t going to slide.”

“Nor did I expect you to. I apologize for how …. Poorly this was handled. Please allow me to make amends by offering you our mutual friend. Blood for Blood.”

“If someone had been hurt we wouldn’t have even made it to this call.”

“Hmm. He had explicit directions. It’s a pity he didn’t follow them better.”

The callous indifference is horrifying. A leader who finds his people unworthy is dangerous and usually quite narcissistic. It’s an awful combination for anyone in power to have.

“You think I’m going to let this go?”

“For now. Until we met again on some other plane of battle. Congratulations on the nuptials. It’s all they’re talking bout here.”

Who the fuck does this guy think he is? I want to retaliate, but I know better. The man who acts rashly always ends up over his head. That’s not me anymore. I have others to look out for. The Albanos and Brizzi’s time will come, but it won’t be until they’ve gotten themselves nice and comfortable. He’s not well liked, only fear. Eventually one will outweigh the other, and he’ll be vulnerable to a takedown from within.

  “I guess this is –

I pull the gun from my belt and shoot the man in the head.

“Goodbye.” The dial tone sounds in my ear. I didn’t want to torture the lackey. I’ll save that for the man behind the puppet.

“What the hell did he mean by an incident that happened?” Ifan asks.

“I don’t know, but we’ll find out, quietly.”

  “I understand,” Ifan says.

“Good. We’ll get a cleaner down here. I want him gone within the next hour.”

“I’ll start the clean-up myself and call for disposal. You go be with your family. Kier looked rattles.”

I sigh. “She wanted to spare him all this.”

“This isn’t on you, mate. Porter left a lot of loose ends.”

“One I fear we’ll be tying up before too long,” I say honestly.

“One day at a time, right?”

I nod my head and pat his shoulder as I walk by and make my way up the stairs. The walls here are reinforced and sound proof. We have a drain that goes down into the ground and enough equipment to make the hardest man crack, eventually. I like the torture. It lets me set wrongs right and extract information. Any other day I would’ve worked the man over until the sun rose and he silently begged me for death because his voice had given out hours before. Tonight, all I want to do is comfort my family. I stop in the bathroom to rinse my hands and wash the evidence down the drain with bleach. I peel the shirt over my head, place it in a bin and remove the bag, tying it up and setting it outside the bathroom to take out with the body. Blood is a bitch to try and get out, and it’s stupid to risk being caught over an item I can easily replace.

I move to my room and slowly open the door. Athena’s lying on her back with a sleeping Kier curled up to her.

“Is everything okay?” she asks softly.

“Yes, love, they were from Boston. Wanted to check in on us and make sure we were keeping our end of the bargain. I let them know we didn’t appreciate it.”

  “Is it.. over?”

“Can’t say. I need to look into it more. For now, we’ll have peace, though.”

  “You’re sure.”

  I nod my head.

  “I was so scared.”

I move to kneel beside her and kiss her hand. “And I’m sorry for that. You won’t be left alone again that way. Not with all this uncertainty going around.”

She nods her head in agreement, and I can see how frightened she truly is.

“Hey, you did amazing.” I cup her face. “Without you, he would’ve gotten away.”

She gives a shaky smile, and I press my lips to her. She returns my kiss with pressure and passion that makes me moan. I pull back. “Leave him here. He needs the rest.” I stand.

“Where are you going?” She grabs my hand.

  “To hop in the shower.”

  “And then you’re coming back?”

  “You want me to?”

“I need my family in one place tonight.”

The words make me smile despite the situation.

  “Then they will be.”

Nothing brings a family together like a near death experience. The things that once kept us apart suddenly seemed small and unimportant in the face of the home invasion. Kier was easing into his new life bit by bit. He’d made the futbol team at his new school along with a couple of mates. Which is where he is now. An entire day to ourselves is worth
taking advantage of. I wander the house until I find my wife perched on a window sill with a medical book in her lap. She’s ready to take the test which will allow her to practice here soon. It was a lot of cutting red tape, testing and proving she knew what she knew to be allowed to practice here.

The process gave her something else to focus on and allowed her to acclimate.

“You study anymore, and your brain are going to start leaking out of your ears.”

“Alfie.” She sets the book aside and stands with a bright smile that still makes me feel like an infatuated teenager. I open my arms and wrap them around her waist as I pull her body flush to mine. “Why aren’t you at work?”

“I had it on pretty good authority the boy will be out all evening with his friends, so I came home early to enjoy the quiet with me wife.”

She giggles. “Well, your wife is studying.”

I move my head back and shake my head. “Not anymore.”

  “No?”

“That’s right. We’re going to do a little husband and wife bonding.”

“Is that what they’re calling it now?” she teases.

I nod my head as I nip at her full bottom lip. “We need to destress you.”

“You have some thoughts on how to do that?”

“I do.” I continue to nibble my way down her neck. Our banter was hard earned. For weeks we’d walked on eggshells, afraid to tip the precarious balance we’d found in our home. She was spooked, in a place unfamiliar to her with her mama bear mode fully engaged until she saw the danger had truly passed. She moans and tilts her head back, giving me access to her long neck. I chuckle as I focus on the pulse in her neck. The feel of her heartbeat against my tongue makes me feel alive.

I wind her hair around my finger and playfully pull. She whimpers and glances up at me with passion glazed eyes. My heart swells. It’s time.

“I know our marriage wasn’t the one you always dreamed of, but it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me, next to Kier.”

  “Fie,” she whispers.

“I love you, Athena. I always have and I always will. There’s never been anyone else for me.”

  “I love you too, Fie.”
