“You know me too well,” Paul said and laughed.

“Yes!” Kyle said and pumped his fist in the air.

“How did… how did you figure it out so soon?” Jenny asked in awe. Paul continued grinning.

“I spent all last night reading up on everything that had been created. I happen to stumble across an invention sort of like a time machine that can change you from child to an adult in a blink of an eye. The hardest part about the whole thing was figuring out how to make a watch have the ability of a time machine. But there’s nothing too hard for me to figure out when it comes to building something.” Jenny and Kyle were overjoyed.

“We have this promotion practically in the bag.” Kyle said with enthusiasm. “And it’s all thanks to you.” Paul laughed.

“It’s thanks to all of us.” Paul said. “Kyle, you need to find a way to get Larry away from me long enough for me to upgrade my watch.” Kyle was afraid that he’d have to be a diversion, but he was willing to do it if it meant changing George back.

“I will do everything in my power to keep Larry and the teachers away from you.” Kyle stuck his hand out and one by one, Jenny and Paul stacked their hands over his.

“Let’s do this!” they said feeling like they were ready to take the world on.

Kyle waited outside of the lab again while Paul and Jenny were inside of the room. Jenny wanted to look out for Larry so that she could give him a piece of her mind, but Kyle told her no.

“This is something that only I can do.” Kyle said. Kyle sounded serious, so she said nothing more. Kyle refused to allow Larry to sabotage their work and get them into trouble. Sure, Kyle had Paul disobeyed his mother, but he was doing that to right a wrong that someone else had made. Kyle was sure that Paul’s mother would ultimately understand Paul’s reasoning for not following her orders once they had turned George back into an adult.

“Hey!” Larry called out once he rounded the corner. Kyle was surprised to see that Larry was by himself. “Move away from that door, I need to get something from inside of the room.”

“All the labs in the building have all of the same things.” Kyle said and folded his arms. “Why must you go into this one?” Larry grinned.

“Because I specifically want what’s in this room.” Kyle didn’t back down once Larry was in his face.

“What do you want so bad that’s in here?” Kyle said and Larry’s grin grew wider.

“The watch that Paul is working on of course,” so Larry was spying on them at the park yesterday. Kyle decided to play dumb just to see what all Larry knew.

“I don’t know anything about Paul working on a watch.” Kyle said convincingly, “Where did you hear about this at?” Larry frowned.

“From you three yesterday, now step aside.” Larry tried to reach for the door but Kyle slapped Larry’s hand away. “Move,” Larry said irritably.

“No.” Kyle said. Larry and Kyle stared at each other for what seemed like an eternity.

“Okay,” Larry said and turned away from Kyle. Kyle saw Larry reach into his pocket for something. Without thinking when Larry spun back around to face Kyle, Kyle had grabbed the arm that reached out to him and chopped it. Larry dropped whatever he had and stepped back. Larry was looking for a fight now. The cameras were temporarily disabled so Kyle knew that they would not be caught by anyone.

“Just leave me alone.” Kyle didn’t want to risk getting caught fighting regardless of the cameras not being on at the moment. He stood in front of the lab door and watched Larry. The object that Larry had dropped on the ground had rolled under the door, so he couldn’t see what it was. It must not have been too bad because he was allowed on campus with it. Larry’s once angry face turned into a calm smile.

“You put your hands on me, you’re ultimately expelled.” Larry turned around and began walking down the hall. Kyle hadn’t put his hands on Larry, he had just disarmed him. Kyle was sure that Larry was about to get a teacher, so they didn’t have any time left. Kyle opened the door and went into the lab.

“We’re out of time now, we’ve got to move.” Jenny and Paul were already cleaning up the room when Kyle came in.

“No problem, we’re done.” Jenny said with a grin on her face. Kyle looked at Paul and Paul held up his thumb.

“Come on, let’s go find George.” Paul said and the three of them ran in search of George.

  Chapter Six

“Have you seen George?” Kyle said seeing a few students from his class walking down the hall. They looked at him for a few moments, contemplating whether they should tell him or not, but then they shrugged. They were pretty sure that if they hadn’t figured out a way to change George back, then Kyle’s group hadn’t either.

“He’s in the classroom with Ms. Richardson and Mrs. Griffin.”

“Thanks,” Paul grinned and Kyle, Jenny, and Paul hustled down the hallway. The students’ looked after them and decided that it’ll be best to see what they were up to. Many of the students saw them practically running in the hall and decided to see what their deal was and followed them as well.

“George,” Kyle said as he opened up the door to the classroom. Mrs. Griffin, Ms. Richardson, and George turned towards the door.

“What’s all of this commotion about?” asked Mrs. Griffin.

“We found a way to turn George back!” Jenny said jumping up and down. The students behind them gasped.

“There’s no way they figured it out.”

“Yeah, those three are lying.” Another student said. Just then Larry busted through the classroom with Mr. Dove following behind them.

“I saw Paul building something in the lab after he was told not to be in the lab.” Larry said and Mr. Dove looked at Paul. Kyle glared at Larry but Larry smiled. “Kyle hit me when I asked him what Paul was doing in there.”

“No I didn’t!” Kyle yelled. “Larry tried to hit me with something and I blocked him and knocked whatever that thing was out of his hand.” Kyle and his friends were too close to changing George back and he didn’t want Larry to ruin the moment. Mr. Dove was about to say something when another thought came across his mind.

“What is everyone doing in here?” Mr. Dove asked.

“These three apparently found out a way to change George back.” Mr. Dove’s eyes widened.

“Let’s see it then,” Mr. Dove folded his arms then. Paul grinned and walked closer to Kyle.

“Will you do the honors fearless leader?” Kyle laughed and took the watch out of Paul’s hands. There was only one button on the watch so Kyle didn’t have to guess which one to push. He wrapped the watch around his wrist and fastened it. Kyle took a deep breath and walked closer to George. George’s big eyes looked up at him and Kyle smiled down at him. Kyle pushed the button and the room was instantly engulfed with smoke.

“Congratulations!” students of Montgomery Junior Spy School yelled out as Kyle, Jenny, and Paul was given a blue ribbon. The now adult George and his brother Dale stood at the back of the room near the punch table laughing. Mrs. Griffin was right there beside George rubbing his arm, happy to have him back to normal. Mr. Dove and Ms. Richardson were praising Kyle, Jenny, and Paul for what they had done.

“Well, Paul was the one who built the watch.” Kyle said smiling.

“But Kyle never gave up on me and provided me with the best support.” Paul said with his hands behind his head grinning from ear to ear.

“Yes, Kyle was really determined and that rubbed off on me too.” Jenny added. The school was celebrating George’s transformation and Kyle’s, Jenny’s, and Paul’s promotion. The three of them were happy about the attention that they were receiving. Kyle looked around and didn’t see Larry at all at the party. He was sent home earlier that day for trying to interfere with Kyle’s, Jenny’s, and Paul’s task. Since he was being so childish, Larry was actually demoted back to elementary spy school.”

“Long story short, we needed each other no matter how ma
jor or small our roles were.” Kyle said and the three of them began walking away. They walked outside the building towards the back of the school and sat at their favorite tree. They did it! Though times had been hard and many lives had been changed, they always stuck together. Kyle, Jenny, and Paul knew that this was just the beginning because it wasn’t like they had graduated from school or anything like that. They’d keep pushing forward until they became the best spy team ever.
