He laughed a nice hearty laugh before shaking his head. He took a nice long pull off the blunt and smiled over at me.

“Yeah. You kno I ain’t bout to kill her. She blood man, I jus wanted to scare her so that I knew her ass was real about this business. It ain’t easy, and if she wanna keep gettin’ paid like she is, she needa show me that she real bout it”

I sighed as I ran my hand through my hair. I wanted to know how much she made, but I didn’t think it was my place to ask.

“Aye, you want in, sis?” He asked, pulling me from my thoughts. I had been considering it and going back and forth about it, but I wasn’t ready to give him an immediate answer, not now at least. I still needed some time to really think about what I was going to get myself into.

“Nah. I mean, I may consider this shit, ‘cause I love you and I wanna be close to you an shit again. But, I’m tryna make it through school and you know that.”

He looked like he accepted my answer. Either that or he was just high as fuck.

“Look, I’ll drop the case on ol’ girl Jay but uh someone gotta pick up her slack. Yeah, I got some men who can handle this shit, but I need a good strong and smart female to stick around. It wouldn’t kill me to have two of them. I know wit yo smart ass around, Jay will get it together. How does that sound?”

I smiled at him and shook my head.

“Good try big bro. Drop the case on Jay and I’ll consider the offer. I ain’t wanna see her dead. She is the only other blood I got that still have some type of sense. Don’t think you wanna strip me of that.”

I got up and excused myself, quickly walking out the door to climb into my car. I cranked the ignition and drove away, thinking about his offer. I mean, it was a win win. If I join, I get more family time with Travis and I can work alongside Jayla, possibly. I don’t know what I may be getting myself into, but I think it is worth it. Hmm.

  Chapter 4

  Kaleo

“Time to put this plan in motion,” I muttered as I looked at a file that Kairee had placed on my desk this morning. I need him to actually come through again so we can go with the plan and make a move. This damn gang is getting on my damn nerves.

I opened up the file and nodded in approval at all the documents that lay before me. Kairee had successfully located where these idiots operated.

  Knock, knock.

“Hey Kaleo,” Kairee said as he walked into the room and sat at my table.

“Hey, you ready to go ahead and navigate? I’m sick of these niggas and I ain’t wanna risk them getting any closer to us. We already lost a couple of our niggas to them.”

Kairee nodded his head and pulled the file off my desk. I watched as he looked over the files, raising an eyebrow when it looked like he had come to the conclusion of something.

“Hey, Kaleo. How about we move tonight and just get this shit over with. We already know their spot and we can probably just do this shit on our own. After watching them for a bit, I’ve gathered that they ain’t worth shit. They have guns but they don’t have the smarts.”

I nodded at him. It sounded like a good idea and I too was ready to get this show on. We both headed into the nearby closet and grabbed a pair of 9mm pistols and tossed them into our pockets before heading into my garage. We climbed into my blacked-out Suburban and headed out towards the location.

  *

“There it is,” Kairee said as he anxiously gripped the door handle. My nigga looked like he was ready to go to war and I admired that about him. He always looked ready and he definitely always stayed ready. My rider for real.

We parked the car about a few blocks away from the house and then we moved in. Kairee led the way and led us towards the back of the building. I’ll admit, I had no fucking idea where I was going. I simply had to put my trust in Kairee. He was the one who spent all his time trying to figure out a way to get in and to get to the main nigga.

I stayed close behind Kairee, keeping my eyes peeled for any armed niggas. We jumped the fence and I watched Kairee examine the back door of the house. I was scared that he was going to do some stupid shit and break the window or something, but I should have known better. I knew my nigga was no idiot. My heart was racing in anticipation as I saw him wiggle the door and do some weird thing to the door knob. I don’t know what he did, but he was able to open it without making a sound.

Kairee shot me a smug smile before nodding his head to motion me to follow behind him. Why was I so afraid? Maybe I was just excited that we finally found these niggas and I wanted to just kill em off while we could.

I stayed close behind him as we climbed the stairs.

  Creak, creakkkkk.

Kairee looked back at me and smacked me on my head. I was so paranoid about not making a sound that I stepped too hard on the world’s squeakiest stair.

“Shhh, nigga! Damn!” Kairee said as he looked at me for another second before turning to look up the stairs. We saw a shadow creep along the way, indicating that there was someone coming. Wait… There were now two shadows creepin’ along. These niggas were laughing loud as hell.

Kairee pressed his back against the wall and dragged me back with him, pressing his finger over his lip to tell me to keep quiet. Man, I hope these niggas ain’t got supersonic hearing because my heart was racing at about a mile a minute and I could hear it.

We waited patiently as we carefully watch the shadows turn into human beings. We saw them coming closer and closer. I gripped tighter onto my Glock and prepared to kill these niggas before they could kill me and my bro. I just hoped and prayed they wouldn’t come down these steps though. If they did, I would have no choice but to rain on them niggas. That would cause a big commotion, which meant attention. We was just tryna find this leader and end it all. Damn!

I let out a sigh of relief when I saw them pass by and continue on, not going down the stairs of death. Kairee moved quickly and stealthily. He made his way up the stairs and took a sharp left down the hall. I did my best to keep up and by doing that, I made a whole bunch of noise. At this point, I didn’t care. Kairee was already well ahead of me and I needed to catch up.

When I caught up, I found him stopped by a door with a big ass smirk on his face. Well, this must be it. I was about to grab the knob when Kairee bolted down the hall again and entered through another door. I didn’t know what the hell he was doing, but I had to just go along with it.

I followed him in and figured that he found a door that was a closet connected to main dude’s room. Nice job, Kairee! I wondered how he even knew this. Then again, I wasn’t complaining and there is no reason for me to question.

Kairee pressed his ear against the door and listened to see if there was anyone else in the room. There was but they sounded like they were leaving. Kairee waited a little bit after hearing the door close before he busted into the room and pointed the gun at the nigga behind the desk.

“Woah, woah! Who the…” The guy yelled before calming his voice down and shaking his head. “Is this some type of joke? Who in the hell is you niggas?”

“You must be Queen Bee,” Kairee snickered as he waltzed in front of the desk.

I couldn’t help but laugh out loud. I mean, this nigga had it coming. His motherfuckin’ gang was called Killer Bees, for Christ sake. He must have felt real fruity when he named this shit.

I sauntered right by Kairee and imitated him, raising my gun too. I watched Queen Bee carefully and saw him fumbling with something under his desk. Was it a gun?

“Aye, Queen. Whatchu got under that desk of yours? If you tryna make a move, don’t be petty bout it,” I said as I wiggled my gun, trying to make dude take a hint that if he was tryna kill us, he was actin’ hella slow.

Queenie just stood up and put his hands up in the air. “I ain’t tryna be petty. What do y’all want with me though? I’m impressed y’all maneuvered up here so well. The fact that you came through the other door is impressive enough. Da fuck are y’all anyway?”

He walked from his desk and edged his way towards
the door that we came from. Was he tryna get up out of here? Nah man, I ain’t about to let this fool just get away.

I saw nigga smirk a bit like something funny was on his mind. Was he making fun of me and Kairee? He looked like he wanted to say something smart. I don’t know what he was up to but I ain’t like it. Queen Bee kept moving along, scooting slowly to the window. I had a bad feeling he really was up to something. Enough of this.

“Damn, you playin me!” I yelled as I fired off a couple rounds, hitting dude in his legs. I kind of chuckled as I watched him fall down.

“What the hell are you doing? Kaleo! Damn nigga!” Kairee said, throwing his arms up in the air.

“Kairee, nigga is up to something,” I said, still holding my gun up at Queen Bee. I subconsciously looked over at the door and Queenie must have noticed me lookin’ cause bitch ass dude laughed out loud.

“Yeah nigga,” Queen Bee said as he laughed. “You right for lookin’ at that door. You already dead men.”

  Pop, pop, pop.

I put an end to that snickering real quick and bodied the nigga.

  “Kairee, watch that damn do—”

  BOOM!

“Shit!” I screamed simultaneously as I fired shots back at dudes entering the door.

Lucky for us there were only four of them who paraded through that door. They were handling AK-47s though. It was a damn miracle Kairee and I didn’t get hit, not even a graze.

We both waited for more footsteps but didn’t hear anyone else coming. We took this as a chance to escape and peel the fuck out of there. As we ran down the stairs and out the door, we looked around and saw there wasn’t anyone else in the building. Must have been a small ass group for real then. Were they all dead? Fuck, I wasn’t about to wait around to find out the answer to that one.

  Chapter 5

  Kaleo

It was definitely easier than I honestly thought it was going to be. I thought that this nigga, the leader of Killer Bees was going to be a battle. I was always taught to never underestimate anyone with small numbers, but I had a good feeling they were just a small group anyway. I mean, they weren’t really reputable and they were just killing off my niggas for no reason. I just thought maybe by us going to their place, there would have been more of them. I ain’t mad. They leader dead now.

“Good shit, Kairee. The way you maneuvered through that place was so beautiful,” I said as I took a sip of Henny.

“You had me scared, Kaleo. I thought yo dumbass was going to get us both killed.” Kairee laughed as he also took a sip of his drink.

“Well, I’m proud of the both of y’all,” a deep voice muttered. It was good ol’ JB.

JB had been my A1 since freshman year in college. Yeah, I only known the nigga for a couple of years, but he had proven to be incredibly trustworthy. When he and I started to get close, I noticed that he, too, was hungry for money and looked like he was willing to do whatever it took to get it. I liked that about lil nigga, so I brought him along for the ride. He had been faithful to me and by my side, just like Kairee. He was a tall ass nigga, about six foot three with broad shoulders and dark skin.

“I got some news for y’all,” JB said as he tossed a duffle bag onto the coffee table before us. “Since y’all killed the leader of Killer Bees, the rest of his goons dipped the fuck out and they disbanded. So they no mo.”

He chuckled heartily and opened up the duffle bag to pass Kairee and me a couple blunts. He then took money from the bag and waved it around.

“I found this at their place. I ain’t find anythin’ else.”

Kairee and I lit up the blunts and took a few hits off of them. The shit was pretty good. They may have been a weak ass shit group, but I had to hand it to them for having some good ass hay.

I watched as JB took a seat in a chair next to me and Kairee. He looked a little puzzled and I couldn’t understand why. I mean, damn, we just took down a little nuisance of a group and he looked like somethin’ was troubling the brother.

“What’s wrong, JB? You look like something is on your mind. Why ain’t you celebratin’ with us? There’s another blunt in that bag, right?”

He looked at me and nodded. “Yeah, but I ain’t feel like smokin’ up right now. I just didn’t wanna say somethin’ cause you celebratin’ but I’ma tell y’all. You best watch yo backs. They may have disbanded, but be careful fo retailiatin’. I know they was small, but I don’t know, I say just watch yo back, okay?”

I never thought of it that way. Maybe I was being ignorant for honestly believing that by taking out their leader and a couple of their goons, it would scare them away and cause them to cease their existence. This is why I have JB around, this nigga always comin’ up with something smart to add. I now had to make sure nothing happens to my brothers and myself.

To lighten up the mood, JB picked up a blunt and lit it up. “But for now, we celebrate!”

We all laughed and talked about shit that didn’t make sense to someone who was sane, but to our high asses, it made all the sense in the world.

“Yo, I got some important news,” Kairee said, causing JB and myself to raise our eyebrows. What revelation did Kairee’s high ass come up with at this very moment?

“I uh, I think I’ma start fresh with baby moms. I know it’s random as shit, but I’ve been thinkin’ bout her and I kind of wanna make shit work. I wanna be there for my baby girl. Maybe we can talk about starting a family for real.”

JB and I looked at one another before bursting out in laughter.

“Aye, aye. Don’t get me wrong. I really want you and Chloe to get shit right and make it all better. But where in the hell did that come from, bro? That shit was hella random!” JB exclaimed, laughing almost in between each word.

Kairee chuckled and held up his blunt. “Weed will make you say some crazy shit, breh. This shit is good. It for real got me in my zone and had a nigga thinking about his baby mama. What in the fuck is this?”

We all laughed and told Kairee how proud we were for him coming to the conclusion that he wanted to make shit work with Chloe. We all need someone. Damn, this shit made me realize I ain’t got no one to lean on. Made me wanna go wife up Tangie, whether the bitch liked it or not. Nah, I couldn’t do that to her. She was on my mind a lot, though, I ain’t bout to lie bout that. Wait, what the hell am I saying? What the hell is in this weed? Really does have a nigga up in his feels.

  Chapter 6

  Kaleo

Holy shit, where in the hell did this semester go? Better yet, where did this school year go? It was already the last day of finals, which meant time for me to go visit my fam back in Lake Crest. Momma called me the other day and told me how they were expecting me to come home and report about how I was doing so they can love and celebrate me. I wonder how they would feel if instead of me reporting that I am doing well and passing my classes, I tell them that I am doing well in the game. That I murked the leader of a gay ass group called Killer Bees and that my drug was doing hella good up in these streets. So good, that niggas was trying to kill me ‘cause I was coming up. That would be the day Momma would pass the fuck out, or beat the shit out of me. Yeah, they don’t need to know about the type of shit that I do. That shit can stay up in Vendetta.

I am looking forward to going to see them, but if I leave here someone needs to watch my shit while I’m gone. It was hard having to do this, especially knowing that my sales and shit are going to go up now that it’s summer time. I mean, I’ll only be gone for so long. I usually only stay for a week or so at a time and I know I’ll be back. I know I can trust JB and Kairee to hold shit down for me. They ain’t ever been ones to betray or disappoint me.

I was just about to call up those niggas when my phone started to ring. It was Kairee.

“Yo, this is crazy! I was just about to call you up, bro!”

“Yeah? That shit is crazy. I was just calling to ask if you wanted to meet up or something. I really don’t have anything crazy to report. What’s up though, bro? You
aight?”

“Yeah, yeah. I am. I was just about to ask you and JB to come through to my place later on today. I need to talk to y’all about somethin’.”

“Oh, aight. I have JB with me right now, so I’ll let him know and I’ll catch you at yo place after school.”

  Click

I tucked my phone in my pocket and headed out to my last class of the semester. Shit man, I was so ready to get up out of here. Summer time, here I come. I was distracted when I walked over to class and accidentally bumped into someone, causing them to drop their books.

“Oh shit, I am so sorry. Here, let me pick these up for you. I was just so distracted,” I muttered as I picked up the mess I had made.

When I finished gathering up all the papers, I handed them back.
