  Acknowledgments

My path to publication was paved and directed by a gracious group of people who offered unselfishly of their time, expertise, and encouragement. Thank you to my editor, Robin Haseltine, who saw something in my writing worth cultivating and helped me craft this book into one I can be proud of. To the fantastic crew at Entangled, including Holly, Riki, and Curtis—thank you! To the fabulous group from Avon Fanlit 2015—it’s because of your support that this story was even written. I’m thankful to Madeline Martin, Kelly Bowen, and Christy Carlyle for their words of wisdom and patience with my questions and concerns. Many thanks to my amazing beta readers, Susannah Erwin, Andee Bergeron, Anna Bounds, Laura Tatum, and Annemarie Rivers, who made this book better than it ever could have been on its own. Love and thanks to Lisa Lin and Pamela Donovan, who offered invaluable encouragement and insight. I’m so lucky to call you friends. And to Laura Jill Somers/Kristie—from writing our first book together, to being pregnant together, balancing motherhood and life as budding writers, I couldn’t have done this without you. You know what this means, right? Your book is next!

A well of gratitude to my supportive family, especially my parents, who cultivated my love of reading (ROOTS at 10 years old? Yep, thanks to my father’s summer reading list!) Special thanks to my sister, Erin, who was my first reader and always praised my writing, even when it was obviously complete rubbish and worthy of a dumpster fire. Lastly, to Matt, my partner in life, love, and parenthood. Thank you for suggesting I write a book...and then understanding the struggle when I did just that.

Now, when she’s not daydreaming about her intrepid heroines and their swoon-worthy heroes, she’s wrangling her three small children with her patient husband in Arizona.
