Her climax washed over her like a tidal wave. Dove moaned and screamed and writhed, bathing in the good sensations. Burley didn’t let up with his tongue. He used his tongue to flick against her clit, helping her to prolong the good sensations. He wanted her to ride that orgasm out for as long as possible. And what a ride it was...

When he finally eased away from her, Dove was panting for air. He stood up and finished getting out of his clothes. After that erotic display, he had to have her. He couldn’t hold back any longer. He had been thinking about her, desiring her all day long. If he didn’t bury himself inside of her right now, he may just keel over dead.

Joining her on the bed, he didn’t waste any time to position himself over top of her. He was surprised, however, when he felt her fingers wrap around his hard shaft. His breath caught in his throat, and a moan rumbled from deep within his chest.

“You like that?” she asked him.

“Oh yeah...” he breathed out. Her hand wrapped around his rod, stroking him for a long minute, then he felt her press his tip to her inviting entrance.

He moved his hips and pushed into her slowly, savoring the good sensations as every inch of him disappeared inside of her.

Before long, his thrusts were quick and deliberate. He pulled out and slammed into her, and each time he did, she cried out in pure pleasure. Her cries were music to his ears. When he finally exploded inside of her, he felt like the happiest man alive. Like everything bad in his life had been washed away.

He was a new man. A little bird had flown into his life and showed him that maybe he could start over. Maybe he didn’t have to be miserable anymore.

  Dove

  Wow.

  Just wow.

Dove felt like a new woman ever since she let Burley Johnson into her life. His nightly visits became routine between them. They christened the bed, the couch, the shower, and she was a little shamed to say it, but even the kitchen counter. She couldn’t get enough of him.

She was thinking of him now, as she sat on the bathroom floor, sanding a cabinet door. Last night, they had shared dinner together. She carried their dishes to the kitchen sink, and somehow that led to him unbuttoning her jeans and loosening them around her hips. He had her pinned back against the counter as his hand slipped into her panties. She could vividly recall the way he finger fucked her all the way to climax...

Revisiting the memory made her wet between her thighs. Damn it, when did she get so thirsty? She had never lusted after a man this hard before. Then again, she had never been satisfied quite the way she was with him. Wouldn’t any woman want more of him? Him with that huge cock and that hungry kiss and that warrior’s body...

What was Burley up to now? Was he taking care of the horses? Thoroughly distracted, Dove reached for her phone.

You busy? Wanna come help me install doors? I could really use a big strong man right now. ;)

She grinned as she sent the text to his number. Even though he lived right next door, and worked literally on her property, she still asked him for his phone number. It was simply good to have it. And it came in handy right now, when she wanted his attention.

She wasn’t inviting him over to jump her bones (or at least that’s what she was telling herself). She did really want help with the doors, and while she was doing the cabinet now, switching to the doors would give her an excuse to spend time with him today. It was a win-win.

Her phone chimed with a response and she was quick to read it. Then she frowned. It was an error message saying undeliverable. Huh. What was that about? If she was home in New York City, she may have worried the guy gave her a fake number to keep their hook up strictly no strings attached. But Burley had no reason to give her a false number. It must’ve been a typo.

With an annoyed sigh, she got up and decided she’d just have to ask him in person. She found him in the stable, checking on baby Bennett. BD was with him and came over to greet her. She still felt wary of the dog jumping on her with his dirty paws, but she resigned to giving him a pat on the head. BD wagged his tail happily.

“Hey there, darlin’,” Burley said, in that midwestern accent that she was quickly growing fond of.

“Hey!” Dove replied brightly. She walked over to the stall where he was inside with Violet and Bennett. The mare was still giant and intimidating, but Dove didn’t feel afraid the way she had before. With Burley’s help, she had gotten used to being around Violet.

Of course, she wasn’t going to be entering any horse stalls on her own. She wasn’t that comfortable. But Violet no longer looked like a dangerous animal to her. She was a gentle mother. And the baby, oh goodness, the baby was as adorable as ever. Dove came out every day just to look at him. Her heart melted a little even just looking at him again now.

“Come to check on the little guy?” Burley asked. She smiled but shook her head.

“No, actually. I sent you a text but it bounced back. I think I typed your number wrong when you gave it to me,” she explained. She pulled out her phone, ready to correct the entry.

“Oh,” he said. “No, I doubt you got it wrong.”

Dove’s brow furrowed in confusion. She watched him pull the grooming mitt off his hand and stroke Bennett down his small back, before coming to the door to leave the stall. She stepped back to be out of his way.

“What do you mean?” she asked.

“I can’t get texts. I don’t got a cell,” he said, pulling the stall door closed with an audible latch.

Dove laughed slightly, thinking he was joking, then realized he was serious. “Wait, what? Seriously?”

He nodded his head and dropped the grooming mitt onto a shelf.

“Yeah. I don’t need one. But I guess I shoulda told you that number was a landline,” he said. She was looking at him as if he had suddenly grown a second head.

“Burley. Who the hell doesn’t have a cell phone nowadays? You don’t need one?” she replied, sounding as flabbergasted as she felt.

“No, I don’t need one. It’s nothing but a distraction,” he said. She scoffed at that.

“Come on, you sound like an old grandpa talking about phones that way.”

Burley wasn’t amused by her remark. She could tell by the way he frowned at her. He looked as if he wanted to say something, but then held his tongue. He let out a sigh and crossed his arms over his chest.

“What were you trying to text me, Dove?”

Dove pursed her lips. She didn’t want to change the subject. She wanted to know why he seriously didn’t have a cell phone. That was so weird! Was it some country thing? Some small town thing? Did they not believe in cell phones out here in the mountains? She had to admit, the signal on her own phone was weak. But not weak enough to make her believe any of those excuses.

Then again, maybe it wasn’t her business. It wasn’t like Burley was technically her boyfriend or anything...

Her shoulders slumped and she pushed her phone back into her pocket.

“I just wanted to know if you’d come over and help me put in the new doors,” she said, dejected.

“Oh,” he said, and paused to glance around the stable. “Yeah, I can give you a hand. Lemme finish up here and I’ll be over in maybe half an hour.”

“Okay,” she replied. Maybe it was on her face, because he seemed to notice how her mood had dropped. He stepped closer and put a hand to the side of her face. His touch was warm against the chill in the air.

It was impossible for her not to smile. She tilted her head slightly, giving in to his caress.

“Look, the phone thing ain’t no big deal. You just call me anytime you need something. Okay?” he said, and there was a sincerity in his eyes that told her those weren’t empty words. It wasn’t ‘the phone thing’ that had brought her down. Still, it felt nice that he cared enough to try to make her feel better. She lifted her hand to place it over his.

“Okay,” she said, giving him a small smile. His expression softened too. He leaned in to give her a ki
ss.

Her heart leapt into her throat, and heat burst into life between her thighs, as his lips met hers. She had kissed him countless times already and it still had an effect on her. Did he feel the same way? Did he feel this powerful connection, or was this all just fun and games for him?

She didn’t want to ruin their day with talk about what exactly their relationship was. She told herself from the start that she wasn’t going to worry about that. Except that was getting harder with every day that passed. Every day, her feelings for him grew stronger. She was going to have to address that eventually. Just... not today.

No, today was for good things. She slipped out of their kiss and grinned at him.

“You start kissing me like that and we’ll never get those doors put up,” she joked.

“Hey, you’re the one who came out here and found me.”

She laughed. She was feeling better. Burley had a way of doing that to her. It was hard to be unhappy when she was around him.

“Okay, okay. Well you better not take forever out here. We got a lot of work to do.”

Burley surprised her by responding with another kiss. She returned it, thoroughly enjoying it, then broke it with another laugh.

“You’re so bad!” she said, lightly slapping a hand to his chest. “I’m getting out of here. You find me inside, so I can get you shirtless and watch you work.”

She grinned as she pulled away from him, walking backward a few steps, her eyes still on him.

“You wanna get me shirtless, huh?” he replied, remaining where he stood.

“Oh yeah. Why else do you think I want your help?” she teased.

Burley scoffed, shaking his head, but she saw the hint of a grin on those sexy lips. She was still grinning herself as she turned around and made her way back to the house.

  Burley

The new doors were now installed. Burley put them in for Dove yesterday, and afterwards she had given him a thank you gift. His face had been between her thighs on more than one occasion, but this time, it was his turn. She had given him the best blow job of his life. She knew just how to work her mouth and her tongue to make him feel like he had died and gone to heaven.

It was unforgettable. When it was over, they went to the bedroom. He slept over at her place last night for the first time. Waking up this morning with her naked body snuggled up against him was unreal. It had taken him a moment to realize he wasn’t dreaming. He had been down for so long that it was hard to accept that he could feel any other way. It was a pleasant surprise to feel genuinely happy.

It was midafternoon. He was outside of his home, working on his truck. He had ordered carnauba wax online to remove the graffiti. So far, it was working. He had gotten the letters off the tailgate and now he was attempting to remove it from the hood when an SUV pulled into his driveway.

It was a 1996 dark green Jeep Cherokee. It belonged to his friend, Luka. Was it Thursday already? Burley had been so busy with Dove that he hadn’t realized it was the day he had his groceries delivered from the Piggly Wiggly.

“Hey, man. How's it going?” Luka greeted him, stepping out of his vehicle.

“Good. Things have been good,” Burley replied. He left the sponge on his truck, using a cloth to wipe off his hands.

“Glad to hear it. You waxing your truck?” Luka came over to meet Burley, but frowned when he saw the spray paint. He cursed under his breath.

“It’s not a big deal. It’s comin’ off,” Burley said.

“I’m sorry, man. We got some real dickheads livin’ in this town. Let me get your groceries.” Luka sighed before he turned to walk towards his Jeep. Burley followed after him. Together the two of them carried in his groceries. Six large paper bags sat on his kitchen table. Burley began to unload them.

“What’s going on over at Old Bennett’s place? I heard his granddaughter is fixin’ it up or something,” Luka said, glancing out the window of the kitchen.

  “Yeah. Dove. She’s real nice.”

“Her name’s Dove?” Luka asked, sounding amused.

“She sure is as pretty as one,” Burley said. He opened the refrigerator to put a carton of milk inside. Luka turned from the window to face him. He studied Burley for a long moment.

“You know, there’s somethin’ different about you today, man.”

Burley scoffed, “I dunno about that. I’m same as I always been.”

“No. I’ve known you for a long time. Every Thursday I come out here and there’s always this... weight hanging over you. Today you look lighter. What’s brought this on?”

Burley shut the refrigerator door and glanced at his friend. There was no doubt that he was feeling lighter than he usually did. That was all thanks to Dove. She had randomly flown into his life and given him something happier to focus on. She had pulled him from the darkness into the light.

“It’s her. Dove. We’ve... we’ve kinda been seeing each other,” he admitted. He walked to the table and pulled out the contents from another bag.

“For real? Shit, man, I’m happy for you!” Luka walked over and slapped a hand on Burley’s shoulder.

“Thanks. She’s really somethin’, that girl,” Burley said. Just talking about Dove brought a smile to his face.

“She must be. I ain’t seen you smile like this in forever.”

“I ain’t had a reason to smile until her,” Burley admitted.

“Yeah, you’ve been dealt a bad hand but it looks like things are lookin’ up. She gonna live there now or what?”

The smile left Burley’s face as he placed some things on the kitchen counter. That was a hard question for him to answer. Even though he had decided to continue their intimate relationship, he knew that it was only temporary. It wasn’t going last. No matter how much he wished that it would.

“Naw. She’s... she’s selling the house and then she’s going back to the city,” he mumbled. He opened an upper cabinet and placed a few cans inside it.

“Oh. Damn. You gonna keep in touch, though, right? You know a lot of people have long distance relationships these days.”

That thought had never actually occurred to Burley. Having a long distance relationship with Dove. Was that something to consider? He didn’t know. He wasn’t too internet savvy but he did know the basics. He could continue a relationship with her that way, but how long would it last? And that is all depending on if she found out his secret or not. The odds of having a long distance relationship with Dove seemed slim to none.

  “I don’t think that’d work,” he replied.

“Why not?” Luka said. He pulled his cap from his head and ran his fingers through his dirty blonde hair. “I had a long distance relationship once. I ever tell you that?”

Burley opened a lower cabinet. “Don’t think so.”

“Yeah. It was a girl in Australia. She was out of this world hott, man, let me tell ya. And her accent... Damn. We dated for around a year like that. When I finally got up enough money and was gonna go meet her, she came clean. The pictures she sent me were of some other girl. She was actually pretty fucking fat.”

Burley paused what he was doing, standing up straight. “So she was lying to you the whole time?”

“Yeah. I mean, the accent was real, but she totally fucking catfished me, man,” Luka laughed. Despite being lied to, he didn’t seem to be down about it.

“Catfish? What’s that mean?” Burley asked.

“You know? Like the show? It’s when someone pretends to be someone they’re not online. But you wouldn’t have to worry about that with Dove. You already know what she looks like. Which, by the way, you should introduce me sometime.” Luka put his cap back on his head.

“Yeah, for sure. You’ll like her. But I dunno about the whole online thing. It’s only a matter of time before she finds out what I did.”

A frown came to Luka’s face. “Man, you gotta stop beating yourself up over that. It was awful what happened, but you gotta move on. So what if she finds out? If
she loves you, she’ll understand.”

Love? Dove didn’t love him. She couldn’t. No one could ever love a monster like him. Burley shook his head. He put some boxed noodles into the lower cabinet.

“She don’t love me,” he muttered.

“Maybe not yet but... who’s to say she won’t?”

“I do. It’s not gonna happen,” Burley said in a stern tone of voice. He shut the cabinet and went back to the kitchen table. There was a sound of scratching coming from the back door. It was BD, wanting to be let in. Luka walked over to let the dog in without even asking. It wasn’t the first time. Luka had been over to Burley’s house many times, and he felt comfortable enough to pretty much do whatever he wanted.

“Hey, boy,” Luka greeted the dog, squatting down to give him some attention. BD’s tail was wagging a mile a minute. Luka was one of the dog’s favorite people. Not that BD saw many people in the first place.

Still petting the dog, Luka glanced up at Burley. “Just think about it, man. Not everything is as gloomy as you think it is. It sounds like this girl really makes you happy. Don’t give up on her just yet.”

Luka’s words stuck with Burley long after he left. Was he really giving up on Dove? Could she be different from everyone else? Luka knew what he had done and he didn’t hate him. Bennett hadn’t either. Maybe Dove would be the same.

Or maybe she’d look at him with hurt in her eyes and never want to see him again.

He didn’t want to find out. If she left before she found out then it would be for the best. He loved the way she looked at him. When she looked at him, it made him feel like he was a good person. It made him forget the horrible thing he had done. If he lost that look, it would crush him more than her moving back to the city.
