  He looked forward to a lifetime of hearing her laugh.

  Carleigh drew back, a light of excitement in her eyes.

  “I want to know about this house you’re building,” she said. “Tell me every detail.”

  With their arms still wrapped around each other, they studied the wooden frame.

  Trig saw the structure differently now that his life had taken a new turn.

  “Not big enough,” he said, frowning.

  “Hmmm.” Carleigh tapped a finger on her chin. “A wife and husband. Two babies. Two dogs. Luann.”

  “We’ll need more bedrooms,” Trig said. “I suspect Pa will stop by for dinner now and again.”

  “Mother will, too. And Pierre.”

  “A bigger kitchen.” He sighed.

  He'd have to take another look at the floor plans. Find room to add a wing. Clear off a section of the land for a play yard. A doghouse. And a bigger garden.

  And he couldn’t wait to get started.
