by James, Avery

He teased her breasts with his lips a moment longer as he slid a hand between her legs, pressing against her thigh as he moved toward her core. As he rubbed against her, her need grew even stronger. He pressed his fingers against her sex, rubbing in slow circles, slicking his fingers with her arousal. He kissed her stomach as he knelt before her. Each movement of his lips brought him lower and drew her excitement higher.

“You don’t have to do that,” she said, but she could tell how much he wanted to. She wanted it too. His touch was so intense that the slow slide of his finger into her core drove her to the brink of climax. When he lowered his lips between her legs and kissed her clit, running his tongue against her sensitive flesh, she felt like she might collapse from the pleasure.

She ran her hands through his hair, raking her fingers against his scalp. She let herself moan as the pleasure intensified. She barely recognized her own voice. It sounded so confident and sexy, the sound of pure pleasure. She was normally self-conscious in bed, but with Harry… well, she wasn’t in bed, and she let herself cry out louder, the throaty rasp of her cry letting Harry know just how close she was to climax.

As he pulled her closer and closer to completion, she tensed, squeezing her thighs around him. She felt her stomach tighten. Her lungs ached, and her heart raced until Harry drove her over the edge and orgasm rocked her body like a hurricane. Maggie tried to catch her breath, but Harry kept going, rubbing his fingers deep inside her as he started to move his way back up her body, kissing her navel and her stomach as he worked towards her breasts.

By the time his lips reached hers, she wanted him all over again. She reached down and pulled his bathing suit off his hips. She wrapped her hand around his length and rubbed. The heat of his arousal made her want him even more. She wanted to feel him inside her. Her mouth, her core, it didn’t matter. She just felt an overwhelming need to take him in. She ran a hand over his chest as she stroked his length.

She pressed him against herself and trembled with excitement as she felt his smooth tip slide against her sex. Harry groaned in delight. “Inside,” he said.

  “Go ahead,” she told him.

“The house,” he said. “I have a condom inside.”

Of course. She’d been so delirious with need that she hadn’t even thought of protection. She was on the pill, but she knew he was right about the condom, even though she still felt that urge to have him inside. She kept rubbing him as she knelt down and took him in her mouth and slid her tongue against his sensitive skin.

Harry gave a surprised groan of excitement as she took him deeper. She knew that he’d enjoy it, but Maggie was surprised by how much it turned her on to make him harder by the second. “Maggie,” he said between sighs of delight. “If we’re not in bed in the next thirty seconds, I’ll have to take you right here.”

It took half that time for them to find their way into the bedroom. Harry nearly dragged her across the main space of the house in his eagerness. She wrapped her arms around his waist and kissed the back of his shoulder before he reached around and swung her into bed. He leaned over her and ripped his bag open, thrusting his arm in and pulling out the condom in one fluid motion. He had it unwrapped before Maggie had fully settled in the bed.

She thought that in his excitement Harry would want to start as quickly as possible, but he pressed the condom into her hand and kissed her neck instead. He ran his hands down her sides, settling his hands on her hips as he kissed her. The warmth of his kiss melted through her as she rolled the condom onto his length. She was ready. She wanted him to claim her. She wanted to feel their bodies join together.

He kissed her cheek, more tenderly than she’d thought possible, and then he sealed his lips against hers, sliding his tongue against her teeth as he pushed himself inside her. Maggie gasped as she felt him enter and trembled as she felt his hips lock against hers. As he rocked her for the first time, she felt his sigh of pleasure mix with hers. Her entire body felt alive with excitement, and she craved more.

She gave in to her desire and let her body take over. She pulled him in for a long, hard kiss, sucking on his lower lip, feeling the rasp of his stubble as he kissed her back. She could see the excitement in his eyes, the need. She could feel her own excitement building up again. She loved the way his hips felt against her, the way his hands felt on her bare skin and his tongue tasted wickedly sweet against hers.

She couldn’t believe how much her body responded to his touch. Each motion of his hips and each movement of his tongue drove her to new heights of arousal. And the way he felt inside her was too good to believe. She raced against him, begging him to raise the tempo even higher, kissing him with desperate need. Her breaths overlapped with his, and her cries seemed to melt into his sighs of pleasure. She knew it was coming on, the climax building inside her, growing more intense with each breath.

She could feel the sweat starting to build between their bodies as Harry rocked her harder and harder. She loved it, and, to her surprise, she vocalized her desire, crying, “harder,” between her moans. When Harry obliged, it took her breath away, shaking her body and leaving her mind blank. She ran her hands up and down his back. She grabbed his sides before dragging her nails down his chest. Harry groaned in delight and slapped his hands on her hips, tightening his grip as he drove her closer to climax.

She pulled him tighter. She didn’t need to hear a single word. She knew he was ready to come with her. It was like his excitement filled her every breath, and when she cried out, she heard his moan of ecstasy too. As orgasm rang through her, his last thrust left her mind blank and her body drained.

Harry kissed her cheek as he rested himself against her. She could feel his heartbeat racing against her chest. It was almost as fast as hers. Harry kissed her earlobe and held himself against her for a moment. Then he rolled over next to her, stretching his arms above his head as he tried to calm his pulse.

  “That was incredible,” he said.

“You did most of the work,” she said. She couldn’t help but smile. She was still winded, and she felt dizzy from the endorphins that had overwhelmed her system.

“Is it always like that for you?” he asked. He was still breathing heavily. She could see a slight sheen of sweat on his skin.

“I don’t know if it’s ever been like that,” she said.

“Remind me again why I didn’t let you seduce me in Key West,” Harry said, “because I’m having a really hard time remembering.”

  “You wanted more,” Maggie said.

“Soon enough,” he replied. She liked the sound of that.

She leaned against his shoulder and pressed her lips to his skin. “You’re salty again,” she said with a laugh.

“I guess we’ll have to take another shower.” He grinned as he turned to face her. “I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone like you,” he said.

“And I’ve never met anyone like you,” she said.

He pulled her tight and kissed her again, letting the warmth of his kiss bloom on her lips. It made her want him all over again. Maggie felt like she had lost all control of her body, but she couldn’t help herself when she was in his arms. She climbed back on top of him, sealed her lips against his again and lost herself in passion.

When they were spent and sprawled out on the bed, she kissed his earlobe and whispered, “So what are you thinking now?”

He raised a brow and looked at her. “Do you really want to know?”

  “I wouldn’t have asked if I didn’t.”

“I was thinking about how, when I’m with you, the world is exactly how I want it to be,” he said, “and I am exactly how I want to be, if that makes any sense.”

  “Naked,” she said.

Harry laughed. “In more ways than one,” he said. She knew what he meant. Laid bare. It was how she felt too. Stripped of all her worries and her plans, she felt completely right lying against him.

Maggie rested her head against Harry’s shoulder and listened to the surf lapping ag
ainst the shore. It was as rhythmic as the rise and fall of Harry’s chest. She told herself she’d made the right choice. There was nothing that could make her regret this night. She closed her eyes. Her lips felt raw from kissing, and her body ached all over from what had been the most intense pleasure she’d ever felt. Already she was wondering how long it would be until they made love again. She thought of the wild thrill she’d felt in Harry’s arms and the comfort she felt lying next to him. She had no idea what would happen in the morning or the day after that, but she did know one thing. Nothing would ever be the same.

  Chapter 14

Maggie lay in bed, staring at the ceiling. It was morning. She had been awake for at least an hour, but she hadn’t been able to bring herself to get out of bed. Harry was still asleep with his arm around her. She knew that she had crossed all kinds of lines, but in the moment, she didn’t care. Being with Harry felt right. It felt better than right. It felt like it was meant to be. She knew she had to get him back to Havana, and eventually back to the US, but part of her wanted to stay in the little house by the beach, listening to the waves crashing against the shore. This was as far from the pace of Haven Communications as she could get. And Harry was about as far from an acceptable boyfriend as she could find. It just made her wish their time alone could last a little longer. She lay there in contentment until he started to stir.

“Good morning,” she said when he finally opened his eyes.

“What time is it?” Harry asked.

“I have no idea. Morning, I think,” she replied.

“I had the most incredible dream that you decided to finally let me kiss you.”

“That wasn’t a dream,” Maggie said.

“It feels like a dream to me,” Harry said. He pushed himself up and propped his head against his hand. He looked at Maggie, letting his eyes wander over her curves. “Yup, a dream,” he said. “Does that mean you meant everything you said last night?”

  “Of course. Why?” Maggie asked.

“I was thinking about those rules you mentioned last night. You didn’t really elaborate on them, and I was wondering what was allowed. For example, is this allowed?” He leaned across the bed and pressed his lips to hers in a tender kiss. He ran a hand over her shoulder, which sent a shiver up her spine. The kiss was good, almost too good. Maggie could feel the desire starting to build up inside her again.

She watched the way the morning light reflected in Harry’s eyes. She didn’t know what time it was, but it had been light for hours. “For right now, that’s completely acceptable,” she said. “In fact, it’s encouraged.”

“Are there any other rules I should know?”

“Off the top of my head?”

“We can look for them in other places if you’d like,” he said. He gave her an almost imperceptible kiss on her collarbone, and Maggie felt a flutter in her stomach. Harry had a way of making her feel off balance and completely centered at the same time.

“What do you think you’re doing?” she asked.

  “I’m looking.”

  “With your lips?”

“I can use my hands too if you’d like,” he said.

  “You’re trouble.”

Harry grinned. She watched that playful, wicked look in his eyes. “I thought you were good at handling trouble,” he said.

  “I am.”

“So I should be a dream come true.”

“To be honest, you have me more than a little confused right now, but I promise it’s in the best way possible.”

“I’m told I have that effect on people,” he said.

“I’m going to pretend you didn’t say that, and imagine instead that you said, ‘I’m a little confused too.’”

“I’m always a little confused,” Harry said.

“Good, we’ll be confused together,” Maggie replied.

  “I like that,” he said.

  “Confusion?”

“No, I like it when you refer to us as ‘we.’”

“You really do like causing trouble, don’t you?”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” he asked.

“It means I just thought of a new rule,” Maggie said. “No falling in love.” Love. The word surprised her as it left her lips. Usually it was enough to make guys run. If she had been worried about a relationship with Harry, it was the kind of thing she would have avoided saying at all costs, but with their situation, it seemed like she should be as honest as possible. “That was dumb,” she said. “I didn’t mean to imply that you were going to fall in love with me.”

“So you’re immune to that emotion?” Harry asked. His agitation took Maggie by surprise.

“No, I just meant I don’t want anyone to get hurt. It makes sense for us both to understand that love is off the table.”

Harry stood in the doorway and looked out toward the water. “I could go out there and draw a line in the sand. That doesn’t mean the ocean won’t wash it away.”

“I’m not sure I follow. Are you the ocean in this metaphor or am I?” Maggie asked.

“I’m just saying that you can’t ask me to do things that are beyond my control.”

“And you can’t control your feelings?” she asked. Things had suddenly gotten far more serious than she had intended.

Harry sighed. “About you? I don’t stand a chance,” he said.

“I’m told I have that effect on people,” she said.

“Hey, that’s my line,” Harry said, feigning indignation. Just like that, the tension disappeared. He walked back over to the bed and planted a kiss on her lips.

“I thought your line was out there in the sand somewhere,” Maggie said.

“You’re sassy this morning,” he said. “I like this side of you.”

“Are you saying you don’t like others?” She gave him a mock-serious pout, but she couldn’t hold back her smile.

Harry’s eyes darted over her body. “They all look pretty good from here,” he said.

“Rule number one is that you listen to me. Rule number two is that we don’t make this into more than it is.”

“So do I get to have rules?” Harry asked.

“Only if I allow them,” Maggie said.

“I just thought of one. No phone until we’re back in Havana. I want you to enjoy yourself without worrying about whatever’s going on a thousand miles away. I want you present—does that make sense?”

“Not even a little phone call? Like some heavy breathing while my coworker tries to figure out what’s going on? I’ve got a few impressions I do. Maybe I could try one of those.”

  “You do impressions?” He asked.

“I’ve been working on a new one. Would you like to see it?”

  “Of course,” Harry said.

Maggie leapt out of bed and grabbed his hand. “Come on, we have to go,” she said. “We have to go right now. I can’t wait another minute.”

“Go where?” Harry asked. He furrowed his brow as he tried to figure out what was going on.

“I can’t tell you until you get on my plane,” she said. She couldn’t help but crack a smile.

“Oh, so you’re doing an impression of me?” Harry asked.

Maggie nodded. “What do you think?” she asked.

“I don’t see the resemblance at all. I mean, you haven’t even hit on me yet.”

She jumped up and wrapped her legs around his hips. “How about that?” she asked. Pressed against him, she could feel his muscles tense as he wrapped his arms around her to hold her in place. She was starting to think that maybe seducing him wasn’t such a bad idea after all.

“Still too subtle to be me,” Harry said. She could see the hint of a smile on his lips.

So he wants obvious? she thought. Maggie placed a hand on his hip and started sliding the tip of her finger against his skin, working her way across the top of his boxers. She felt his abs tighten.

“That’s not bad,” he said. “You’ve almost got it.”

  “I’m not done yet,
” she said. She reached her hand lower. Harry gave a little moan when she reached her destination.

“Can I give you a few pointers?” he said.

“Of course,” she replied. Through the fabric, she could feel him coming to life in her hand. She loved knowing she was turning him on. She intended to tease him in more ways than one. Her heart was racing. “How’s that?” she asked. “We should really get on the road soon,” she said.

“You want to leave right now?” Harry asked in disbelief.

She slipped his boxers down his thighs as she leaned in to kiss him. Harry quickly turned and pulled her over his hips. She pressed herself against him, locking her lips on his in a slow, hard kiss, the kind of kiss that made her heart race, the kind of kiss that left her wanting him as badly as he wanted her: hard and fast and breathless.

“No,” she said. “I have something much better in mind.”

  ***

That afternoon, Maggie lay in bed, warm and tired and a little bit dazed by the way she felt about Harry. Maggie had never known a man who could please her the way he could. It was like they had some primal connection that worked on a level she couldn’t understand. It was like her body was tuned to his. She had never felt anything like it in her life. Maybe it was the thrill of doing something she knew she shouldn’t do. Or maybe it was the romance of their trip. Whatever it was, she wanted to hang on to it for as long she could.

“Let’s go for a walk,” Harry said. “I know we need to leave, but I want you to see this place before we go. We can’t do that if we don’t leave bed.”

“That’s not fair,” Maggie replied. “We were out of bed for most of that last time. Or have you already forgotten about that part in the kitchen? Remember? When we tried to make lunch?” They’d made love twice since getting up. She didn’t know what had come over her.

“I don’t know if I’ll ever look at a counter the same way again,” he said. “We should go out before I decide I need to have you all over another time.” He pushed himself out of bed and pulled on clothes.

“Are you trying to convince me to stay or leave?” Maggie said.
