Keeping an eye on his wristwatch, he allowed their dance to continue for exactly 59 minutes. Her poor clit was so pink and puffy it looked nearly painful and her slickness has created a perfect little puddle under her ass on the bed sheets. He was tempted to never wash them again, willing to bathe in her scent as he slept each night, but he figured having her in bed beside him was an even better option.
As the clock ticked on, he rose up on his haunches, having shucked his pants and underwear off at one of the rest intervals during their frenzied foreplay and he looked down at Shelli’s passion-soaked, nearly comatose expression.
“You ready for it, baby girl?”
“P-please. Cal, I need it.”
He lowered his head once more, pressing his fingers firmly against her g-spot, only to have her hips try to pull away.
“No more, Cal. I need it so bad. Please.” Her breath stuttered and tiny tears leaked out the corners of her eyes.
“I’ve got you, just relax.” He pressed one hand down over her hips, planting her gently, firmly to the mattress as he dove back in, licking and slurping at her like she was his last meal and his fingers set up a punishing pace within her. When he felt her close to the edge, he pressed his fingers in further, deeper and whispered “come” against her precious little clit before he sucked it fully into his heated mouth and felt her explode against him.
He eased out, softly and delicately kissing her puffy lips as his fingers made their retreat. Her body was lax and lovely before him, her eyes half closed, breath slowed and legs limp with pleasure. He made a pledge in his heart of hearts to keep her this happy, this free and fun often.
“Are you just going to stand there like a perv or are you gonna make love to me?”
Cal laughed, standing up and prowling down the bed toward her, softly nipping at her inner thighs, her hipbones, her rounded belly, the sensitive undersides of her breasts. She shivered and squealed each time, giggling as he growled at her like a lion on the hunt.
“Only good girls get to come, Shells. You know that.” He punctuated his sentences with rough suction on the tips of her peaked breasts, pulling off with a wet pop each time. She was so beautiful, so purely responsive and sweet; it was hard not to allow his control to slip.
“Are you going to be good for me?” She nodded sweetly, a wicked glint in her eye that told him she would never be completely good and he was thankful all of the monsters of her past hadn’t succeeded in dulling the brilliant little pieces of her that made her so resilient and strong.
His hands slipped up toward hers, his palms pressing hers down and into the mattress as his fingers twined with hers. Her hips fell open so sweetly, so widely that his shoulders shuddered, a tortured groan rumbling up his throat. Her eyes were all feminine power and pride as he fell on her, sliding his cock between her slick lower lips, transforming her smug smile into a gasp of pure pleasure.
“I thought simple old missionary wasn’t good enough for you, Shells.” He taunted her with his words as he teased her with his tip, slipping slightly into her and withdrawing. He let her slide along him a few more times, punctuating each slip with a deep, wet and desperate kiss, until her hips frantically searched for friction and he couldn’t hold back anymore.
“It’s not,” she replied, a sassy, too-knowing smile lighting her eyes and pulling up the full pout of her sweet lips. When he pulled back, to check in and make sure he wasn’t doing it wrong after all this time, she took advantage of his reduced pressure and used the leverage to flip them over.
It wasn’t in Cal’s nature to give over control during sex, especially not with Shelli, but the triumphant grin she gave him and the pride in her gaze melted all of his will. His long-suffering control evaporated in the face of her desire. Maybe just this once, he could concede and give her what she truly deserved.
“Sit up against the headboard.” She directed him with the firm point of a finger and a quirk of her auburn brow. He complied quickly, pulling her up with him, her core still nestled against his upper thighs where she sat straddling him, and was rewarded by a soft sigh and a surge of moisture from her.
He grew hotter and harder than he though possible at the thought and he could feel slick precum seeping from him. Shelli’s frustrated little grunt above him, coupled with her grinding, drew him out of his thoughts and he looked down to check in on her, that same mischievous glint in her eye he loved.
“Hands behind your head, that’s a good boy,” she crooned at him, and he felt an uncommon rush of pride at her praise, even if it was teasing. “Now, keep them there and give me your mouth.”
Holding her breasts in her hands toward him like a sacred offering, Shelli scooted up his legs until she came closer to flush with his chest. He happily pulled a breast into his mouth and was rewarded as she gripped one hand around his length and finally began her descent onto his rigid cock. His head popped off her breast as he bent his neck backward and groaned at the silky heat of her pussy enveloping him. He was pulled from his reverie by a sharp pinch against his nipple.
“Pay attention or I’ll stop.” The heat in her eyes ignited his own and he gave Shelli, his sweet, surprisingly take-charge Shelli, a cheeky grin before sucking her other nipple deep into his mouth lightly using his teeth and using his hip strength to drive up into her.
He pulled back before driving forward once again, settling in to a hard pounding rhythm and marveling at the flex in her thighs as her legs pressed down with every thrust. Her breasts bounced hard with the contact and looking into her satisfied, lust stoked eyes as she whispered dirty, filthy things to him, he lost total control. He kissed her and savored her as he thrust deeper into her, trying to embed himself in her heart, her mind her soul. And as he felt her finally give in to her release, screaming his name as she went, her nails digging lightly into his shoulders, he groaned into her silky soft hair as he followed her into bliss.
His arms and hips felt loose as they fell to the side, wrapping himself around her in a warm embrace. He fitted his arm under her neck, his hand coming around to palm her breast as his other arm bracketed her little belly bump.
“I love you Shelli, you’re the best gift I’ve ever received.
“I love you too Cal. I’m so glad we can get ready for this baby together, to welcome him or her with love in our hearts and no more secrets between us.”
Cal kept his head tucked into her hair, a soft, telling smile on his lips as she cuddled further into him and her eyes drifted closed. When her breathing evened out into short little puff of air, he leaned down close to her ear, brushing her hair aside with his lips.
“Well, almost no more secrets, baby girl. I’ve been saving one.”

Shelli
“Awww are you really going to make me go back to reality?” Shelli leaned her head against the back of the passenger seat and pouted over at Cal, trying to use her best baby girl face to get her way. Despite her cuteness and the warm pressure of her hand twined with his, Cal was showing no mercy. Although, he did look blissfully happy and smug as he kept one hand on the wheel, his eyes forward on the road.
Their time spent at the cabin was heaven. They hiked a few of Cal’s favorite, less-strenuous trails, skinny dipped in the cool, clear pond and generally behaved like unsupervised kids at summer camp. They ate s’mores over the fire and roasted hotdogs and sat out on the porch swing talking about their lives and making out until all hours of the night. It was innocent and right and pure fun, at least until they found their way to the bedroom when things took a dirtier turn. But she loved it all and when they packed up the jeep that morning she hadn’t wanted to ever leave their little woodland sanctuary. But, Cal seemed to be on some sort of deadline, either real or perceived, as he ushered her quickly back on the road.
“No offense to our friends, but I was very into that alone time.”
“I’m sure we’ll make our way back soon.”
“You promise?” She tilted her head, her eyes gleaming as the sunl
ight caught in his hair. She held her hand over her belly, silently telling their child how lucky he or she might be to have a father in the man across from her. Her heart felt so full.
“I promise. Maybe not over the winter if the snow gets too bad but we’ll make time.”
“So what’s on tap for today? Are we headed back toward the compound?”
“Yeah.”
He’d been like that all morning. Every time she asked a question, the response was delayed and monosyllabic. Cal wasn’t a chatty man, period. But with her, he was normally a bit more open. He’d convinced her to dress in a cute pair of denim shorts and a white, embroidered blouse he’d pulled out of thin air specifically for their drive today, which seemed a bit much, especially after he’d asked her to pack comfy clothes for their trip.
She leaned back in her seat and let the wind whipping through the jeep calm her. Nothing could disturb her epic level of sated peace today. At least until Cal drove straight past the compound, past the border of Mina’s property and turned off the main road onto a rough two-track that snaked through the adjoining property.
The piece of land next to Mina’s had always been a favorite of Shelli’s. It had a small stream running through it that encouraged trees and allowed greener grass to grow, making it feel more like the area she grew up in. It was just a fenced-off pasture though, she had no idea who owned it.
“Cal, we don’t have permission to be out here. This is well past Mina’s place. We need to turn around.”
“No worries, Shells. The owner okay-ed it. Don’t you want to see what’s back here? It’s part of our adventure today.”
His charming smile and easy attitude calmed her. Cal always knew what to say to help her feel perfectly at ease. She relaxed a little and let herself enjoy getting to see more of the property she’d caught only glimpses of for years.
“If you’re sure…”
“I’m pretty damn sure, baby girl.”
As he finished speaking and she grew wary of the mischievous glint in his eye, the jeep pulled over a rise and she gasped out a breath. In front of them, in a gently sloping valley lay a wide stucco ranch house. A porch wrapped all the way around with a swing nearly identical to the one they’d shared at the cabin. It was practically perfect in every way, she couldn’t believe this place had been here all this time and she’d never seen it before.
“Pretty cool, right?”
She turned to face Cal, unable to keep from bouncing up in her seat as she answered. “It’s amazing. Cal, I can’t believe this has been here all this time and I’ve never known.”
“Well, it’s brand new, that’s probably part of it. And it’s hidden completely from the road by the curve of the land and the trees at the creek. It’s a nice little hideout, right?”
“It’s gorgeous. What I wouldn’t give to get to decorate a place like this. But why are we here?”
“Well the owner wanted me to come out and make sure everything was just the way he’d requested it from the builders. Apparently his fiancée is completely unaware that he’s built this place for her and he wants to be sure everything is perfect before she sees it for the first time.”
“Awww. That’s so romantic.” Cal parked the jeep close to the attached two-car garage and walked around the car to help her out the door. She never got over that simple act of service. His hand gently grazing hers as he helped her out heated her blood each and every time. As they walked up the landscaped path to the front door, hand in hand, she couldn’t resist needling him a little. Her sassy side came out in full force now that she was comfortable with their relationship.
“Where can I get a man like that?” She bumped his shoulder with hers and attempted a sexy wink. His face was broken out into such a wide, full-force grin; she was taken aback by his happiness and stumbled over the rest of her words. “A-am I right? Or am I…” She broke off to see what kept catching Cal’s focus over her shoulder as they now stood facing each other on the porch. Turning her head around, she looked down to the wide, solid planks, at the pristinely clean doormat that read “Callahan” in front of the door. Her hands immediately and unconsciously crept up to her face and she spun quickly to face Cal. Disbelief written plain as day across her face. “Wait, this can’t be…”
But Cal wasn’t standing tall behind her anymore; only bright sky, red cliffs and scattered trees met her questioning gaze as she spun. It wasn’t until she looked lower that she caught sight of Cal, down on one knee with a ring box in his hand at her feet.
“Michelle Lorraine Sutton…” That’s pretty much all she heard over her own sobbing. Her desire not to ugly cry in front of this incredible, sexy man left the building long ago. He was here, he was hers, and he wanted forever. He was bound to catch her in tears a time or two in the future.
“I’ll promise to love you today, tomorrow and every day after. If you could find it in your heart to love a rough and ready mountain man like me, would you consider spending the rest of your life by my side, as my wife and the mother of our children?”
Shelli couldn’t get the words out. She just kept flicking her gaze from the strong man on his knees in front of her and to the round cut diamond ring set in silver and turquoise in the box in his hands. She pressed her hands to her heart, worried she might burst as she nodded her head hard and softly whispered “Yes, 100 times yes.”
She flung herself into his arms as soon as he broke out into a grin, making sure not to bump the ring box as he removed the ring to place on her finger. He wrapped her up in a tight hug where they both crouched on the porch. But the sweetness, the privacy of their intimate moment was short-lived.
“Watch out!”
Reina’s warning was just a touch too late as a shaggy behemoth, soggy and slick from the creek came bounding up the steps, tackling the happy couple to impart a few sloppy doggy kisses all over their faces.
“I’m so sorry. He was getting antsy back there so I took him to the creek hoping he’d be quiet and he heard you guys pull up before I could grab him” The poor mechanic looked completely out of her element. The pale pink dress she was wearing was darker and damp around the hem, as if she’d been in the creek as well and her hair was wild and wavy out behind her from sprinting after the distracted dog.
“Not that I’m not happy to see you, Reina…and Andy.” She leaned down, gently rubbing his scruffy head as she spoke. “But, what are you guys doing here?”
Reina looked to Cal first. “You already get the hmm-hmm?”
Cal, being the man that he was looked completely clueless, his eyes completely blank as he tried to decipher her question. “The what?”
“You know… the hmm-hmm.” She fidgeted her hands, wiggling her fingers meaningfully.
“He already asked and I said yes, Reina. And I know this is our house.”
“Oh okay. See, Cal, how hard was it to answer that question? Sheesh.” Reina rolled her eyes like she just didn’t have patience for the entirety of the male species and that probably wasn’t far from the truth. “But isn’t it super romantic that he had the builders start on this months ago? Oh wait let me see the ring!” She squealed, letting loose of Andy again and reaching for Shelli’s hand.
“Ahem, Reina. Aren’t you supposed to be out back?”
“Oh yeah. But aren’t you guys coming?”
“Give a guy a minute first. I haven’t even gotten to show her inside yet.”
“Ooh. Sorry. Man, is he always this bossy with you or…?” Reina broke off under a hard glare from Cal and Shelli barely contained her laughter as she handed Andy over to her and watched the odd couple march around the side of the house to the back yard.
“Wow, that commanding stuff works on everyone, doesn’t it?” She smirked for only half a second before Cal pulled her up tight into his embrace, the scorching heat of his kiss blocking out all coherent thoughts. He held her so softly, so warmly against him that it felt like home. Like their home together.
She broke away slowly, reluctantly open
ing her eyes back up to the real world as she dropped out of paradise.
“Ready to see our new home?” Cal looked so satisfied with himself, his pleased grin and light-filled eyes made her heart so happy. He’d really actually pulled off a huge surprise with perfect timing.
They walked through the door, into a wide-open foyer, living, kitchen and dining room combination, facing out across the land, with a wide bank of windows that would someday show the creek. Today, they were partially obscured by a wayward, pale pink and blue balloon arch and a whole tribe of women who’d traded biker gear for sundresses.
“Surprise, again.” Cal whispered in her ear as she walked out the door to meet her friends. Mina was already halfway through a slice of cake too impatient to wait until her arrival. Reina was still actively trying to hold back Andy from pouncing on Isabel’s new cat while the latter woman was studiously trying to both ignore and observe the twins. It looked like things were back to being up in the air between them. She sighed, letting herself slip into her comfortable zone, here at her new home, with her true family and her new man by her side anything was possible.
“I love you.” She whispered to Cal, leaning her shoulder up against his as they faced the crowd outside. He leaned down and let his lips linger in her hair, before pulling her tight against him and wrapping an arm around her shoulders. “I love you.”
“No more secrets?”
“Not a one.”
Author’s Note
Every page read of this book brings so many smiles to my face. Thanks for sticking with me for a much longer story this go-round and for enduring with Shelli through some pretty trying times. I hope all the Cal snuggles and HEA vibes were worthwhile!
