I nodded, his solicitous words music to my ears. Right now, I was just happy not to be waiting.

With a gentle thrust, he began to ease himself inside me. I gasped, my arms flailing out, clawing at the pillows around me, as he pushed himself in further. When he was sure I wasn’t going to scream from pain, with one fast thrust, he filled and stretched me to the brim; the head of him scraping luxuriously against a thick bundle of nerves deep inside. Goddamn those other dudes that had no idea what they were doing! Of course, it probably wasn’t their fault; apparently it was hard to please a cambion unless you were a supernatural. So I heard.

But Trystan wasn’t having a rough time of it, as he pulled out slowly, just to his head, and thrust in with force, quickening his pace each time.

I bucked my hips upward in time with him to match his power, making everything that much more intense.

I abandoned clawing the pillows to grab his taut ass, raking my nails over his skin, causing him to buck against me.

  “Trystan…” I panted.

“By the gods, Ava…you feel fucking incredible,” he breathed huskily into my ear. His face hovered over mine, eyeing me intently as he thrust in and out slowly. My head rolled backwards, and I began to moan, louder with each thrust.

“Yes, Ava…cry out for me,” Trystan demanded, stifling my moans momentarily with a brisk, claiming kiss. He slid his arms under me, hooking his elbows under my shoulders, and tipped his hips just so to intensify the friction. His pelvic bone rubbed now deliciously against my core and the pressure was building exponentially. Somehow, he managed to hit every damn neglected nerve inside. Even ones I didn’t remember having.

Trystan nipped at my neck as he pumped, running his tongue across my lips and whispering huskily in Gaelic in my ear. His eyes were wide open as he intently watched my facial expressions of pleasure, occasionally he closed his eyes and muttered a moan of his own.

I wrapped my legs around his waist, drawing him in even more, and his eyes rolled back into his head. I dug my nails into his shoulder blades as the drumming in my head, and the pressure in my lower belly grew and grew. We panted and moaned, meeting each other’s thrusts until I began to see little white explosions in my vision, my body morphing with his. I shook and trembled against him, feeling the pressure reach a fever pitch, and my eyes rolled back into my head as I clawed at Trystan’s muscular back.

“Ava. Keep your eyes open,” he said, pausing his thrusts, he took my face in his hands, lifting my head gently. “I need to see your face when you come.”

“You…huh?” I shivered. Trystan’s forehead beaded with perspiration, and his expression was strained.

“Your eyes. Keep them open. Trust me. Promise?” He demanded, his tone was stilted, breath ragged.

I nodded once. “Okay?” I didn’t have any further opportunity to question, as he began pumping again, much harder than before. I didn’t even think a man could move like this, let alone cause the insane vibrations and listlessness in my body. I whimpered and moaned, tightening my legs around him when the exploding release of orgasm claimed me. My vision went foggy and white, the world around me spinning and tripping out of control. Every pore of my skin was heated and sensitive as my inner walls clenched around him, pulsing out of control. My eyes were heavy; I wanted to float away in the waves, but I resisted, Trystan eyeing me carefully. His handsome face was tense and inquisitive, as he seemed to be searching my eyes for something.

  “You okay?” he asked.

Breathlessly, still feeling the orgasm rock through me, shuddering my nerves with intense pleasure, I nodded. Barely.

He searched my eyes again and grinned, obviously satisfied with whatever he saw. Or didn’t see. I didn’t have time to wonder as he began thrusting again with extreme fervor.

“Holy shit!” I exclaimed, this time I couldn’t help it when my eyes rolled back into my head; and the orgasm that had been beginning to fade intensified once more, especially as I watched Trystan succumb to his own release. Now I see why he wanted to watch. It was mesmerizing. A sense of relaxation tumbled over him, his grip underneath my shoulders tightening as his cock throbbed inside me. He moaned loudly, collapsing himself on top of me, burying his face in my hair and neck as we both panted, riding out the remainders of our releases.

It was quite some time before either of us spoke; my vision still spinning, and my body total and complete mush. Trystan finally raised his upper body, eyeing me carefully, and asked a question in Gaelic.

“Am I hallucinating, or are you asking me something?” I asked, breathless, swallowing a gasp.

He shook himself. “Och, sorry…I slipped into Gaelic. I asked ‘are ye all right?’”

“All right? Yeah, I’m all right,” I said, snorting, as if the answer should be obvious. “I’m a pool of mush, I’m pretty sure I won’t be able to walk for about an hour, but otherwise? Great!”

Trystan beamed widely. “Well that’s good, I just meant…you don’t feel like, tired? Weak?”

I gave him a strange look. “Um…yes. Isn’t that supposed to happen?”

Trystan scrubbed a hand over his face, scratching at his auburn stubble at his chin. “Yes. Basically. But you don’t feel like your soul is being sucked out?” He positioned his face a hair away from mine, grinning smugly. He looked drunk and pleased with himself at the same time.

“I wouldn’t know how that feels, but everything still feels normal. Except for everything is still spinning.”

“Spinning?” Placing two hands on either side of my shoulders, he pushed his upper body up, still positioned over me. He glanced around, confused, blinking furiously. “Oh…kay. This is…new…”

“What?” I asked weakly, my eyes clamped shut to block out the spinning.

  “We’re…glowing?”

My eyes flew open. “What?” I rubbed my gaze with a fist, and my mouth fell open.

It was faint, but the air between us seemed just a tad lighter then around the room; like the sun was pouring in, touching us with its beams through a sheer curtain. But everything else was still dark. If I didn’t know any better…

“This almost seems like the air around Avalon when I’ve been there in my dreams,” I said, raising my hand, wiggling my fingers. Trystan did the same, and a golden string formed from each of our palms, like the one the same time the boys declared their fealty to Avalon (me, and the isle both), sworn by the only remaining Knight of the Round Table—Lancelot. It spun and curled, until they joined together. A warm shiver encompassed both of our bodies, like a shot of strong Scotch. Feeling woozy, with his dick relaxed but still inside me, Trystan smiled like a fool. “That’s amazing!” He kissed me once more before the weight of him collapsed over me.

I was too tired to protest, too relaxed and sated. His skin was hot, and I felt safe and secure, the haze of white finally clouded my vision entirely and I succumbed to fatigue and passed out from exhaustion and pleasure.

  Chapter Twenty-Five

“Ah, Ava. It is good to see you again.”

I blinked, glancing around me. The same white mist, and heady air surrounded me that I was quickly becoming to recognize as Avalon—at least the Avalon in my dreams—surrounded me; parting as my grandmother’s regal face came into view. She smiled warmly, pressed two hands together over her heart, as if in prayer, and bowed gently at the waist. Her silver waves tumbled over her shoulders as she raised.

“Igraine.” I said acknowledged I glanced around, noticing that we stood near a shoreline, water lapping carefully along a white-sand beach. “Where are we?”

“Still in Avalon, of course,” she said, with a smile. The woods were shrouded in the distance by the same mist around us. She pushed down a drapey white sleeve on her arm with the opposite hand and snapped her fingers. A long piece of blonde driftwood appeared nearby, closer to the shoreline. “Come. Sit. We may not have much time before you awaken, and I need to tell you something.”

I lifted a brow, but reluctantly followed her t
o the log and sat down beside her. I moved the skirt of the white gown I generally wore in these visions aside and lowered myself carefully. The neckline of the robes hung dangerously low, and my boob nearly popped out—damn them—and I had to adjust the ties to prevent that from happening. It might be cool here on Avalon to flash your tits, however I couldn’t get used to it. Yet. Even in a dream. Or whatever the fuck this was.

Igraine reached over and patted my knee affectionately. “You seem better, less troubled. Your heart is lighter. I take it you were able to confide in one of your men?”

I flinched in disbelief. “How did you know about them?”

Igraine chuckled knowingly. “Ah, my dearest one. Remember we are one and the same. Anything you feel, we feel here. You’re beginning to heal, as is your gentleman. It’s a wonderful thing.”

  “Heal?” I asked, confused.

“Yes. Your hearts have been troubled. You’re beginning to heal now.”

I chortled loudly. “Why? Because we fucked?” I should have probably been ashamed to use that word in front of my grandmother—if that’s what she really was, I was still skeptic. I secretly hoped to rattle her, but she didn’t even flinch.

She did smile. “It wasn’t the fucking, my dearest,” she said with a smirk. She didn’t even flinch at the word. Hmm…yeah maybe we were related after all!

“So, is that what the mist and foggy vision and gold string was around us?” I inquired.

Igraine nodded. “Yes, that’s the Avalon magic. Healing you. You opened up, and let someone in. To your heart.” Igraine shot me a playful grin, and I chuckled. “Your Highland suitor also will begin to heal. See, Avalon isn’t about the sex…it’s love. Love is the healer. It’s just the joining and intimacy is a big tool to enable that. Especially for a cambion, and four incubi.”

“I…you know them?” I asked in disbelief.

“Since he—they all—were cursed with the same magic that comes from Avalon, we can sense them too. Not like you, but they do have a presence here,” she said.

“But…four of them? Is it possible to love four men?”

Igraine smiled knowingly. “Of course, if your heart is large enough. And I think it is. I myself have two husbands. Well, had. Uther departed this world some time ago. I assume some time has passed in your world, and Gorlois has also departed.”

“Gorlois…” I whispered the name questioningly at the tip of my tongue, like I should know it.

“From the kingdom of Cornwall. A rival to Uther—and later Arthur’s—Camelot. Unless he took refuge in Camelot; I’m afraid I’ll probably never know,” she said, a touch of sadness in her voice as she glanced out at the shoreline. I started to question her, but she raised her arm, motioning to a faint, yellow ball in the sky, dimmed by all the fog and clouds. “See that? We haven’t been able to see any hint of the sun in…well, a very long time.”

  “How?” I was confused.

Igraine took in a shuddered breath. “It’s you, dear Ava. But, I’m afraid I don’t have time for that. I just need you to know, everything is not as it seems.”

  “Huh?”

“I’m afraid I can’t be more pointed then that,” she said with a sigh. “Avalon has been hidden from your world a long time. We cannot exist where you do, yet someone is trying to rip the barrier between our worlds. I am not sure what that will mean for us—both of us—but it is concerning.”

I pressed my mouth in a firm line. “So…what does that mean? What do we do? How can we find Morgaine? Do we really need Excalibur to take her out—or, what?”

She gently squeezed my knee, smiling at me reproachfully. “I’m afraid I don’t know. I’ve lived here my entire existence.”

“Are you…real? Like not just in my head?” I scratched my forehead in confusion.

“Dreams—visions—are just another way of seeing things you cannot see while awake. Yes, we exist. Maybe in a different way—a different place—than you. Are we really having this conversation?” She shrugged. “I cannot know. But somehow, I’m here, as are you. And I can tell you that you shall have help.”

I squinted, cocking my head to the side. “Help? Like, my father—”

She rose a hand, shaking her head dismissively. “Not Lancelot, another. He has been trying to seek you, but his entrance been denied. When the sky opens, let him in.” A loud crack of something like thunder rumbled in the distance. Igraine stood.

“I’m afraid it’s time. That may be him now.”

“Him? What?” My peripheral vision began to darken, and Igraine’s image began to blur and fade.

“Trust me…trust them…trust you…” she said, her voice echoing. The mist and Avalon disappeared, and I was asleep once more.

  Chapter Twenty-Six

I drew in a sharp breath. My eyes opened, and instead of the mists and the mysterious land of Avalon, I found myself staring at the burly chest and feathered tattooed pecs of Trystan. Tipping my head up, I noticed his left half was draped over me—arm, leg, torso. His breath was even, chest rising and falling gently.

“But…?” I questioned aloud, mystified. Lifting myself up slightly, pulling out of his grasp, I glanced around; we were still in Trystan’s romantic little barn retreat. I blinked repeatedly, and the fairy lights hanging outside the canopy started to come into focus. What the hell was that? And, what did she mean, “let him in.”?

I adjusted myself on the pillow, feeling the large amulet shift on the chain, pulling the chain over my shoulder in a drape. The gem slid down, and gently rested against the inside of Trystan’s bicep. I smiled slowly, admiring his peaceful face, carefully brushing a fingertip along the coolness of his skin, down, and rested my hand on his ass. I cocked a brow; even limp, resting on the bed between us, his dick was still impressive. I shifted, feeling a slight soreness between my legs. “Shit…no wonder.” It didn’t hurt while we were coupled, but now? I could definitely feel the aftermath. Probably the roughest, toughest workout I’d ever had.

But I didn’t regret it for a second. Especially because I didn’t shoot him with my magic.

I fingered the gem in my fingers, smiling. “Thank you, Bash…” I said gratefully, patting it.

One green eye of Trystan’s opened slightly. A slow, lazy smile spread across his lips. “What does Bash have to do with this?” he asked, grinning salaciously. “I don’t mind sharing, but as long as we’re together, I don’t want to hear the other guys names on your lips, okay?” He said with a wink. He brushed the fingers of his left hand over my shoulder, and over the fullness of one of my breasts. I squeezed my eyes shut and sucked in a breath, feeling the same pangs of arousal from before as he circled a finger around my nipple.

“Ye like that, huh?” Trystan’s tone was playful, and he took both breasts in his hands, and began kneading.

I sighed, falling back against the pillow. “Fine, but I’ll just lay here, okay? I’m kinda tired now.”

Trystan chuckled. He pulled himself over me, so our lips touched, and he brushed his against mine gently. “I don’t want to tempt fate, luv. I was afraid that somehow the incubus curse could still hurt you. It’s good to know it doesn’t, but…I don’t want to push it,” he said with a wink. He wrapped his arms around me, pulling me in close. I rested my chin against his shoulder and basked in his closeness. It felt like heaven, being totally free and sated, and enclosed his arms.

I lifted my head slightly, running my fingers along his chin, and smiled.

“What’s on yer mind, luv?” he asked.

“How long has it been since you…” I blushed, trailing off. “Enjoyed it.”

Trystan blinked, surprised, and propped his head against his elbow. “I can’t say I’ve ever enjoyed it like that,” he said. “But…a long time. Long time.” His gaze wandered then, his thoughts faraway.

“Tell me about it. Please?” I asked, genuinely curious.

Trystan turned back to me, sighing. “I was married before.” Before I could be surprised, Trystan raised a han
d, shaking his head. “It was arranged; that was common back then. But, we got along well enough and we developed a deep affection for one another. We had a daughter—”

I gasped. “You…had kids?” I know I had no right to feel this way, but the thought made me insanely jealous.

“Had. Obviously, I outlived her long ago,” he said sadly. “Her name was Morag.” I wrinkled my nose, and he chuckled. “It wasn’t unusual back then, I promise.”

“Morag Munro. Did she…have a family?” I questioned. “Have you looked them up?”

“Aye. Well she had a family, that much I know. My wife, after I’d been captured and cursed was considered widowed, and she remarried later. And married well; she fell in love with a rival clan leader. They had other kids. Past Morag, I never inquired much further. Not like I could ever meet them, eh?” He laughed sadly. “We’d be so far apart by now, we’d barely be related.”

“Still. It’s family, right?” I said. “What did you do?”

“I was just a farmer. I’d been second in line to the Munro chieftain, so…that’s probably why I’d been taken out.” He shrugged. “It was long ago. It’s not home anymore, luv,” he said, reaching over and pulling me close, into his chest. I rested my head on his shoulder, sighing happily.

“How long do we get to stay here before someone comes looking?” I murmured into his arm, tracing circles on his chest with a lazy finger.

“Och, there’s no telling. For now, let’s just—” We were interrupted by the sound of a loud slam, a voice hollering.

“Trystan? Ava? Nessie!?” An uncertain voice called loudly.

Trystan broke the embrace, sitting upward quickly. “Och—Bash? That fucker…”

“He sounds panicked?” We exchanged shrugs.

“Trystan? The wards were broken! Where are you?” Bash called, his voice muffled by the floor of the barn.
