All In: Calling His Bluff (Gambling With Love) Page 11

by Hart, Lane

Tears overflowed from my eyes before I could blink them away. When Dylan stopped moving on top of me I tried to quickly wipe my face off on the sheets, but then he suddenly flipped me over.

He sucked in a breath and grabbed the side of my face, swiping his thumb over the wetness. "Why are you crying? Shit! I was too rough. I hurt you, didn't I?" he asked almost frantically. I shook my head, unable to meet his eyes or explain why I was hurting.

"I'm fine," I managed to say.

"I hate those two fucking words. Whenever you say them I know you're lying."

"I better go," I said, ready to get the end of our "arrangement" over quickly, like ripping off a Band-Aid.

"Jules, talk to me. Tell me what's wrong."

"Nothing's wrong. Now let me up," I told him, pushing against his unmoving chest. "Will is probably on his way."

He looked at me a second longer before he finally moved off of me. I quickly climbed down from the tall bed and started gathering all my things. I put on my bra, jeans and shirt that were still on the floor from yesterday afternoon.

I couldn't help but remember how nervous I'd been when he'd taken them off of me, and how he'd blown my mind. He'd been so gentle and careful the first time. It had been incredible, but the best part was seeing him smile down at me after it was over. He'd looked so satisfied and … proud, like I was a grand prize he'd just won. In reality I was the one that'd lucked up and had somehow been given a brief taste of heaven.

I knew it was too good to be true and that our time together was limited. Even knowing that, I'd become addicted to Dylan … and now I was going to have suffer through the agonizing withdrawals. At the moment it didn't feel like they'd ever end.

I picked his t-shirt up from the floor, the one that I'd slept in and he'd just pulled off of me. I folded it, leaving it at the foot of the bed. I had to blink back tears remembering the rightness I'd felt waking up in his arms, before my brother interrupted us yet again.

"So, I guess I'll be back in an hour or so," I told him, putting on the closest thing I could to a happy, carefree face.

"Yeah, go and come back as Jules, Will's little sister. I already miss my ... the Jules from this weekend," Dylan said softly as he climbed out of bed. He walked into the bathroom and left me standing there crushed and heartbroken without a backward glance.

  Chapter Eight

  Dylan

It was ten minutes to twelve. I ran around the apartment one last time making sure there were no signs that Jules had been here earlier. It looked like the coast was clear, and I knew she'd packed up all her things from yesterday to take with her. I heard the elevator ding, which meant time was up.

I went to the door figuring Will would show up first, and I was right.

"Hey," I said, opening the door still out of breath. It was impossible for me to look him in the eye after all the indecent shit I'd done with his little sister, and then lying to him about it. I'd had sex with her on an elevator in front of another man for Christ's sake. Then this morning I'd been so rough I'd made her cry. Fuck.

"Hey. I brought the chicken," he said, handing me the buckets.

"Oh yeah, thanks," I replied, taking the offering and sitting them on the kitchen bar we'd use as our buffet today.

I couldn't believe I'd forgotten it was Sunday, and that last week we'd all made plans to get together for the first football game of the regular season. Hell, I was pretty sure it'd even been my idea, which was why everyone was coming over here.

My hundred and ten inch flat screen TV was already on the pregame show as the rest of our friends arrived. Caleb and Lauren brought pigs in blankets, Jess and Tyler brought two babies with a lot of baby shit, some chips and dip, and nachos with cheese. Jules came in last, having showered and changed into a women's Wildcat jersey and tight jeans, looking sexy as fuck. She brought a football ice cream cake, and I couldn't stop thinking about smearing it all over her tits and licking it off of her. Damn, I really had to stop thinking shit like that or my dick was going to give our secret away.

"Nice place, Dylan," she said when she came in. Nicely played, since she wasn't supposed to have seen it but once years ago. I didn’t like the icy vibe she was putting off though. I knew she was probably just trying to make sure Will didn't know what was going on, but it hurt to see the switch flipped so drastically from the fun, sexy woman I'd started falling for. Maybe I’d even imagined the way she’d wanted me.

"Yeah seriously. Why haven't you had us over before, Dylan?" Jess asked, as she held one of the twins who was dozing off to sleep.

"Dylan's a millionaire in hiding," Tyler told her. He laughed when her jaw dropped.

"Seriously?" she asked. I shrugged, keeping my eyes on the TV.

"Seriously. His last name is Daughtry," Tyler answered.

"Like the beer company?" she asked, pointing to the bottle Caleb was drinking.

"Yeah, the beer company his dad started," Caleb responded.

  "Holy shit, Dylan."

"You know that car I showed you in the garage?" Caleb asked Lauren. She nodded as she fed a bottle to the other twin.

  "Worth a million."

"You drive a car that cost a million dollars?" Lauren asked.

"No, he lets it sit in the garage and takes the bus or makes me drive my truck everywhere," Will told them.

"It was on sale for eight hundred, and I don't want to get any dings on it," I said defensively. The truth was it wasn't worth the hassle of having to run off gold diggers while trying not to weakly give in to their advances.

"Dylan got more pussy in high school than all of us combined," Tyler told the women.

"The whores thought his cum was made of gold," Jules commented, making everyone laugh. I finally let myself glance over to look at her. She was sitting beside Jess on the couch, smiling as she played with one of the babies. I couldn't help my own smile, looking forward to the next time I could come inside of her.

"Real classy Jules," Will chastised her, and when she playfully stuck her tongue out at him I had to hold back my groan.

My mind flashed back to last night in the elevator, and how fucking amazing that whole erotic encounter had been. I still couldn't believe that Jules had not only gone along with it, but seemed to have enjoyed it as much as I had. And my downstairs tenant. The bastard.

I had no idea when it started that I would become so insanely jealous by the end of it. Now I wasn’t too happy about some asshole seeing her basically naked, and thinking about being with her while getting himself off. My goal had been to show Jules how sexy and wanted she was, not just to me, but to other men. The only problem was it backfired. I didn't want her thinking about being with other men, especially not the asshole from the party last night. I wanted her to only want me.

Trying not to dwell on how things felt so up in the air and uncertain with Jules after this morning, I turned my attention back to the TV to watch the game with the others. I appropriately complained when the Wildcats turned the ball over on offense, and cheered when the defense got it back, even though I was distracted.

When I went to the kitchen for another beer I noticed Jules was holding one of the babies. Will did too.

"You do remember where babies come from, right Jules?" he asked. She rolled her eyes as she looked down at the baby all dressed in pink.

"Yes, Will. I know where babies come from. Storks bring them of course, just like in Dumbo."

"Tell that jackass that if he knocks you up I'll kill him," he said. Oh, he didn't know the jackass was getting his message loud and clear.

"What jackass?" Caleb asked. "Jules is dating someone?"

  "Fucking someone," Will muttered.

"Now that you mention it, she does have the glow of a woman who's been thoroughly fucked," Lauren teased, making Jules's cheeks flame bright red. "And is that a hickey and beard rash on your neck?"

Jules's free hand went up to cover the marks I'd left on her. I forced myself not to rub my still unshaven face. Or the fading hic
key she'd left on me Friday night.

"I don't want to hear that shit," Will said with a shudder. The women ignored him.

"So Jules, tell us about him. Did you meet at school?" Lauren asked.

"Uh-huh," she said, looking nowhere but down at the baby.

"And? What else? Is he hot? Does he give you butterflies?" Jess asked.

"Ah, yes, and I don’t really know yet," she responded with a shrug. I wondered if she was talking about me, or that jackass Nick or Nate, whatever the fuck his name was.

"What? Either there are butterflies or not. Does he at least know how to make your toes curl?" Jess asked. Will groaned, getting up to head to the kitchen. Jules's face turned an even brighter red, her answer obvious without her saying a word. At least I knew that much was true.

"He does! Well, good for you," Lauren laughed. "There are a lot of men out there that have no freaking clue."

"Tell me about it," Jess said, rolling her eyes.

"I know you're not talking about me," Tyler said, leaning over to nip Jess's ear.

"Ha! Why do you think I agreed to marry you so fast?" Jess teased.

Looking at her, Jules did seem happier and more confident. Or maybe it was just that I'd never really paid attention before. Then I noticed that everyone else was eating or had just finished eating from our snack buffet, but I hadn't seen Jules touch anything except her water bottle. Come to think about it, I woke up starving this morning after skipping dinner last night, so I knew she hadn't had anything to eat either. I had a bad feeling her missed meals were on purpose, after what she'd said the other day at lunch.

I'd seen every inch of the woman's body and knew she didn't have anything to be insecure about. Hell, I was getting hard just thinking about her naked.

My eyes went back to the football game while I tried to get my dick to calm down. A few minutes later my phone rang. Pulling it from my pants pocket I saw it was Megan. Huh. I was usually the one to call her first. Was it possible that she wanted me now that she'd seen me and Jules together, and realized I wasn't gay? After all these months, the thought didn't make me as happy as I thought it would. What the fuck did that mean?

Hell, I knew what was going on, and just didn't want to admit it. I wanted to keep up my arrangement with Jules. How many times had we fucked the day before, six times and then once this morning? I already wanted her again.

I'd slept with a lot of women over the years, mostly in high school, and never had sex been as amazing as it was with Jules. Being with her just felt like the most normal, natural thing in the world. It felt … right. I didn't have to try and impress her or hide my money from her. I could just be myself, and it was nice. Really nice. The only problem was worrying that Will would find out what we were up to and lose his shit.

I hit ignore on the incoming call, deciding I'd figure out what to do about Megan later, then slipped my phone back into my pocket.

When I glanced up I caught Jules's gaze on me. She was frowning, and I had a feeling I knew exactly how she probably felt.

I'd never been a jealous guy, or an angry one. But last night when I'd seen that fucker talking to Jules and flashing a condom at her, I was ready to murder him with my bare hands. Now I wondered, despite what she'd told me, if she really would have fucked him if I hadn't intervened. Thinking she'd rather be with him, that she wanted him and not me, was like a knife to my gut. It hurt so much I wanted to break things, mostly that fucker's face. Even now I had to make myself relax my fists and unclench my jaw. I really, really didn't like the idea of Jules fucking someone else. In fact it made me want to throw up. But that was why she was fucking me in the first place. Using me to gain more experience before she fucked other guys. Goddamn it.

I got up to head for the kitchen. I needed another beer to try and drown my inner caveman. I should probably try to exhaust myself with exercise or something, to get my anger under control. What I really wanted was to drag Jules back to my bed and fuck her until she couldn't even think about being with anyone else.

It was more than sex with her though. I liked having her here with me, sleeping beside me, making me laugh with our ridiculous innuendo bantering. Being with her was like getting the best of both worlds. I had fun with her like I did with Will, Caleb and Tyler. But with her, there was the added benefit of getting to fuck each other's brains out.

Being around Will reminded me that I needed to change Jules's contact name in my phone, before I forgot and he saw a dirty text message or missed call from her. After I popped the top on another bottle of beer I went through my contact list, but Jules's name wasn't in the 'J's. Huh. I went to the call log, knowing it'd be there from when I'd called her yesterday.

I barked out a laugh when I figured out what she'd done. At some point she'd changed her name in my phone to "Big Booty", like from the song, “Talk Dirty to Me.” I sent her a text message, figuring that if she'd changed mine she'd changed her own, so no one would know it was me if they saw it.

"Nice name since I can't stop thinking about your fine ass. ‘Incredible Booty’ would be more accurate. Although, the song reference is appropriate since 'anyway, every day I'm trying to get to it.'"

I quoted the lyrics of the song and hit send, then put my phone away before heading back to the living room.

"What's the shit-eating grin about?" Tyler asked me before I could sit down.

"Wildcats are winning," I lied, but he didn't buy it.

  "Righhht."

"He's been smiling like that ever since he got some ass Friday night, and again last night with some sorority slut," Will told them. I winced at him using the word "slut" to refer to Jules. Not that he knew it was her, but still.

"Is that right?" Tyler asked, raising an eyebrow then looking over at Jules who was smiling down at her phone, then back at me. Oh shit! How'd the bastard figure it out?

"Yeah, and I'm trying to talk Jules out of rushing Tri Sig," Will added, which basically confirmed what Tyler had already guessed.

"They need my GPA, and I need them to meet guys since there aren't any on campus. Besides, Stacy said they'd waive my induction fees and all," Jules said. Suddenly I wasn't too keen on the idea of her rushing.

"What about the asshole you were with last night? And besides, do you really want to hang out with a bunch of slutty, brain dead, fake blondes?" I asked. She narrowed her eyes at me.

"I'm sure the asshole from last night will move on to his next piece of ass any day now, and you're the one who said I should give your friends a chance," she replied curtly.

What the hell was she talking about? I didn't have any intention of moving on. How could she even think such a thing, since I can barely keep my hands off of her?

"Maybe you're wrong about the asshole, and I didn't mean you had to join their sorority."

"I don't have any expectations with the asshole, so you and Will should go ahead and get used to the idea of me joining. I've already told Stacy I'll be at the meeting Tuesday night."

Based on the expressions volleying between us, it looked like Caleb, Lauren and Jess had also realized something was up with me and Jules. Awesome. At least Will hadn't seemed to pick up on it, which was surprising since nothing ever got past him. He was like an all-knowing genius.

A few minutes later when Jules stood up and stretched, I knew what the signal meant.

"So, I guess I better head back to school and finish up some assignments for tomorrow," she said.

I'd gotten so used to her being here for the last two days that I didn't want her to leave. It wasn't like I could tell her that now, and I knew she wouldn't come back and stay with me tonight since she had class first thing in the morning.

"School work is what you should be doing, instead of fucking around with some jerk who's only after his next piece of ass," Will said as he followed her to the door.

Tyler, Caleb, Lauren and Jess all looked at me and smirked while Will's back was turned. I quickly flipped them off.

"Wait, how'd you know the el
evator code to get up here? I forgot to give it to you," Will said. Everyone froze, staring straight ahead at the TV.

"I guessed. Figured the rich bastard would use his phone number or his birthday, and the second one worked," Jules answered smoothly. We all let out the breaths we were holding.

"Oh good. Sorry I forgot to tell you," he said.

"Good seeing you guys," Jules waved, and we all said our goodbyes.

"I'm going to walk her down," Will called out to us, shutting the door behind them.

"So how long have you been fucking Jules?" Tyler asked me, which I knew was just the beginning of his cop interrogation.

  "I plead the Fifth."

"Since Vegas?" he asked, and my jaw dropped.

  "Vegas?" everyone else exclaimed.

  "How'd you …” I started.

"You were all sharing a room, you looked guilty as fuck that night we had dinner, and she was blushing. Doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to figure that shit out. So you've been seeing each other behind Will's back for a damn year?"

"Ah, no. Nothing really happened in Vegas, and this just started a few nights ago."

"Will is going to be so pissed at you when he finds out," Caleb laughed.

"He's not going to find out. We just have a … temporary arrangement. So you all better keep your mouths shut," I warned them.

"Temporary, yeah right," Jess said with a snort. "Did she stay here last night?"

"Maybe," I replied, unable to hide my grin.

  "You dirty bastard," Tyler chuckled.

"Well, I think you two would be so cute together," Lauren said.

"Dylan's had a thing for Jules since we were teenagers," Caleb told her. "Even after there was a line of women trying to fuck him."

"What? How would you know?" I asked in shock. I'd only just recently admitted as much to myself. When did my friends become so damn observant?

Caleb laughed. "Unfortunately for us, the teepees in your pants have always been very obvious, and impossible to ignore. Especially whenever Jules was hanging out around the pool with us."
