“Harper, Faxon’s awake and asking for you.”

Harper used her crutches and followed the head nurse through the double doors that the nurse activated with her security access card. When she walked into the room a doctor was examining the wounds in his chest and abdomen. A nurse was taking his vitals, blood pressure, temperature, the doctor checked his eyes with a small pin light, He wrote on a chart and shook his head. The nurse hung another bag of fluids and checked a urine bag hanging from the side of the bed. The doctor put the chart back and looked at Harper.

“You’d think there was nothing wrong with him. Just the same don’t let him get up and walk out,” the Doctor teased.

Harper moved over to the side of the bed and looked down at Faxon, she put her hand on his cheek leaned down and kissed him.

“I was so afraid she was going to kill you. Did she shoot anyone else?”

“No, when she saw you laying on the ground bleeding she said something like, I’m coming with you dear, then she put the gun to her head and killed herself. There’s a lot of people here to see you. I don’t know if they’ll let them all in here, they might wait until they move you into a regular room. Your parent’s are here.”

“What? How’d they find out,” Faxon asked in a whisper.

“I called them, your mom’s been crying, your dad wanted to know what the hell I’m doing with you, I told him I fell and hit my head.”

Faxon smiled. “Kiss me again.” This time it was a little longer and more passionate. “I love you, we still ok?”

“Yea we’re still ok.” Harper kissed him again. “I love you. I meant to tell you I got my PI license, so now we’ll have to change the name of our business. I think Lewis and Bennett Investigations sounds good.”

“Oh you do, well I’m the managing partner so I don’t think that’s negotiable.”

Look for Faxon, Harper, family and friends in their next adventure, Muted Murder.
