“Let’s go.” Brandon grabbed my arm and led me away from my apartment. The elevator down was fraught with silence and my frantic thoughts. There was something about the way that he was acting that scared me. He had parked his car right outside of my apartment building, and just as he was pushing me into the car I saw Aaron. The puzzled look on his face told me that he had no idea what was going on. I held up my phone and mouthed to check his. He did and nodded .
My hero was going to save me. I hoped anyway.

Brandon was droning on and on about his job and something about the science behind it. I had tuned him out when I realized that Aaron was going to find a way to rescue me. Now, all I had to do was wait for him to come up with a plan and play along with him. My only thought was that it needed to happen soon because I couldn’t take much more of Brandon’s boring talk.
“Tameka, what do you think of me replacing a C1 level chip with an F2 level chip?”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about. I mean how am I supposed to know what any of this means, since I am not an IT person. If my computer breaks, I take it into the shop and they make it work again.” It sounded facetious but I was being very serious. I had no idea what went on inside a computer, I was barely qualified to plug it into the charger. Aaron needs to hurry up.
“May I take your order?” The waiter asked, and I looked up at him. With a tiny smile in my direction, I realized that my white knight wasn’t on a horse, he was wearing an ill-fitting suit and looked extremely uncomfortable. Aaron must have bribed one of the other employees and borrowed their uniform. He purred in my direction, “You are very attractive.”
“Well thank you sir.” If you took Brandon out of the equation, there was something very sexy about him playing the waiter and flirting with me. His smile told me that he was enjoying this, a little too much. “I would like a White Wine Spritzer.”
“I’m her date. I don’t think that it’s appropriate for you to be hitting on her, especially when you see that she is out with me.”
“Sorry I didn’t notice you Bro. All I could see was how hot she looks and thought that maybe I should make my move on her.” It dawned on me that Brandon had met Aaron, how did he not realize who he was talking to? It didn’t make any sense to me, unless he knew and didn’t want to say anything. “Plus she could do so much better than you.”
Aaron disappeared for a second, and reappeared with a pot of coffee. I prayed that he wasn’t going to do what I knew that he was going to do. I closed my eyes so I didn’t actually witness what was about to happen. When I heard Brandon’s yelp and cry for a manager, I knew that Aaron had dumped the pot of coffee in his lap.
My laugh ripped through the restaurant and suddenly I felt Aaron grab my hand and yank me from my chair. We ran through the lobby, he threw a $50 bill at the cashier and we ended up out on the street.
We were in an ally and he pushed me against the wall. He planted his lips against mine, as he ran his hands up my leg, stopping just short of going inside of my dress. When he pulled away, he admitted, “Seeing you with another guy made me crazy jealous. I think that I want to tell everyone about us. Not Saturday, but soon. Sooner than we thought we would be telling people.”
Chapter9
Aaron and I went over the room, one last time to make sure that everything was perfect. Once we were satisfied that everything seemed to be in order, we kissed one last time before the party started. Eric walked in on us and smiled. “I knew that something was going on between you guys. Ella is going to be so happy that you have found a girl that makes you happy.”
“She told Ella that she thought it was a bad idea for us to get together,” Aaron informed his future brother in law. They surveyed each other for several seconds before Aaron finished his thought, “I know this is a horrible position to put you in but would you please keep it to yourself for now. We are going to tell Ella after her birthday.”
“Sure. It actually works out in my favor, she’ll be so happy with the engagement that she won’t be focused on your love life for a couple of days and maybe I can get laid.” It wasn’t likely that Ella was going to give in to him; she had decided that she was waiting for them to get married before they made love again. I vowed to let Aaron know that I would not have such a policy.
One by one, everyone showed up for Ella. She basked in the glory of being the center of attention but she kept eyeing her brother suspiciously. I went up to her to find out what was going on in that mind of hers. “I know that Aaron is seeing someone and I know who it is. She’s here today and I am a little ticked off that she lied to me. It’s one thing to bang my brother and it’s another to tell me that there was no interest in him.”
I tried to remain calm, I tried to remain steadfast in the lies that we had created but something told me that everything was about to come out. The truth was about to spring forward like lava from a volcano and all I could do was hope and pray that I didn’t lose my friend over this whole ordeal. “Who do you think it is?”
“Jennifer. She’s been seeing someone and Aaron has been running off to see some girl, it only makes sense that they’ve been seeing each other. I mean where did Aaron go after he saved you from your date with Brandon?” I had come clean to her about not liking the latest man that she had wanted me to date and how I had asked Aaron to save me. Of course Brandon had totally skewed the story to make him look like a victim. He cried about the coffee being dumped in his lap. “Notice how they are working extra hard to avoid each other? I’m going to put a stop to this.”
“Ella, don’t!” It was too late, she walked up to Jennifer and grabbed her by the arm, steering her towards Aaron. He looked surprised to see his sister manhandling our coworker. He glanced over at me and I shrugged my shoulders.
“I know about your secret relationship with Jennifer and I want you to know that it doesn’t have to be a secret anymore. I approve of this relationship and want you to seal it with a kiss in front of everyone!” Ella seemed so proud and sure of herself that she shoved Jennifer at Aaron. He didn’t seem to know what to do.
“I’m not dating Jennifer, Ella. I wish you would just leave this alone and be happy. We’re here to celebrate your birthday. Take a night off from trying to set me up with a girl and enjoy yourself.”
“Not until I know the truth! I want you to admit that you are in a secret relationship!” Ella demanded. Time was up and I knew it. The only thing to do was for me to take control of the situation. I walked up to Aaron and stood on my tiptoes and kissed him. There were audible gasps from the room, and when we pulled apart, Aaron smiled at me. “What the hell?”
Before we could answer Ella ran from the room, I followed her. Aaron and Eric were right behind me as we all made our way outside and then down to the park that was by her apartment. When she finally stopped, she looked at me angrily. “Ella, I wanted to tell you so many times but you didn’t approve and I love you like a sister.”
“I knew that something was up when things didn’t with Brandon, but I never thought that you would betray me like this. Lying to me about my brother,” She stopped herself before she said too much more. I knew instinctively that she was going to bring up the night that we stalked Aaron and Vicki at Chuck’s.
“El, I love Tameka. She is the only girl that I could ever imagine being with. I want to spend the rest of my life with her.” Aaron put his arms around me and for the first time in a very long time I realized that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with a man. I believed in love again. “We should have told you but we wanted to see where it went before we told anyone.”
“I love Aaron. I know that you weren’t comfortable with it but please accept us as a couple. I think that we can go the distance and I would love to be related to you!” Ella gave me a smile and stood up. She wrapped her arms around both of us. It was her way of letting us know that she was cool with our relationship. After the hug broke up, I dropped another bomb on her, “Remember Vic, the lesbian you set
me up with? That’s who Jennifer has been seeing. I set them up.”
After a good long laugh, Ella looked at Aaron and her face turned serious. “I think that you need to ask her to marry you. I mean think about it, you guys should start trying to get pregnant.”
Eric finally cleared his throat, reminding us that he was there. “Instead of focusing on them getting married. How about you focus on our wedding.”
“What?”
“Ella, will you do me the honor of being my wife. I cannot imagine spending the rest of my life, without having you by my side. I love you .” With the question asked, he dropped to his knees and produced a small box with a beautiful ring inside of it.
“Yes!” It was all she could choke out. Then out of the blue she added, “Aaron I think you need to get on your knees and propose to Tameka.”
He didn't propose that day but he did eventually, however that is another story for another day!
If you enjoyed this story and want to see the next part then please leave me a positive review on amazon. Once I have 10 of them I will get to work on releasing the next part!
