“No, it’s not okay. Spread your legs now.” He grabbed her around the throat again until she moved her left leg. Scott took some tissue and gently blotted and patted until he was sure she was dry. “There, that wasn’t so bad, was it?” He turned and took everything over to the side of the room and set it down. “So sweetie, did you decide which station you want to try first? I’m rather ready for some fun. Especially since you are standing there half naked, looking so fucking sexy for me.”

  Drew shook her head.

“Aw, are you too shy to say which one turns you on the most? Do you want me to pick for us?”

Just then, Drew heard a noise. Scott must have heard it as well. He turned toward the open door, a frown replacing the nasty smile he had a moment before. “I wonder who that is?” He walked out of the room almost as if he had forgotten she was even there.

Drew felt her knees buckle, making pain shoot through her shoulders once again.

Logan knocked and rang the bell again. He hoped like hell Scott would answer. Ramsey was around back looking for a way to get in. No one seemed to be home, which was odd. Normally the butler would answer promptly. He didn’t think this was a good sign. Why would Scott have sent everyone away unless he didn’t want anyone to know he had Drew there?

He took a deep breath as he heard the front door unlock and put on his poker face. When the door flung open, he saw a look pass over Scott’s face.

  “What are you doing here?”

“May I come in? It’s cold out.” He pushed past Scott.

“I’m busy at the moment.” Scott’s voice came out angry before he saw the look on Logan’s face. “I’m just very busy. Work stuff. But we can talk in the study.” He pointed to the door on the right as he closed the front door behind him.

As they made their way into the study, Logan was surprised to see all the books. A reader? I wouldn’t have thought so. He turned, fists clenched. “Where’s Drew?”

“What?” Scott stepped back and almost tripped over his own feet. “There’s no one here but me. May I offer you something to drink?”

“Do you have Scotch?” Logan didn’t want a fucking thing from him, but he knew he had to give Ramsey time to get into the house. He could tell by the flicker that passed through Scott’s eyes that he was lying.

“On the rocks or straight up?”

“Rocks.” Logan studied him. Little beads of sweat pooled on Scott’s forehead, and his mouth was pulled in a tight line. He noticed there was a cobweb on the back of Scott’s head. As Scott turned, Logan pretended to be studying the books closest to where he sat. “It’s a nice collection.”

“Yes, it is.” Scott handed him a tumbler and sat down on the chair, taking a sip from his. “So what exactly did you come to see me about? Why are you asking about Drew?”

“Let’s get something straight right now. Drew is missing and I think you know something about it.”

Scott sat back, eyes almost bugging out of his head. “What do you mean Drew is missing? And what the hell makes you think I know anything about it?”

“Because of the text messages you sent her last night. Care to elaborate on them?” Logan sat back and took a sip of his drink before pulling his phone out of his pocket. Ramsey had forwarded the messages to Logan’s in case he’d need them.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Scott gulped down the rest of his drink, walked to the bar, and filled his glass back up. “If she told you I texted her, she’s a liar.” He tossed most of the glass down in a couple of gulps before filling it again. “Would you like more Scotch?”

Logan quickly sent his text to Ramsey telling him to check the basement, stood then quickly strode to Scott, grabbing his shoulder to spin him around. “Cut the shit. She sent them to me. I read every fucking one of them.”

Scott shoved at Logan. “Prove it, asshole. If you don’t have her phone with the text on them, you can’t prove a fucking thing. Now, let go of me.”

Logan laughed. “Doesn’t matter if I have her phone or not, I have them on my phone. The texts have already been retrieved and sent to the police. Even if you deleted them and disposed of her phone, they’re still there, asshole.”

Scott’s face went pale. “You’re full of shit. Get your hands off of me.”

“It would be better for you if you stop arguing with me and take me to her. Because I’m ready to forget I’m a gentleman and just beat the shit out of you right now.”

“I don’t have her. So let me the fuck go.”

Logan’s phone pinged. He pushed Scott into a chair. “Don’t fucking move.” He glanced at the text. Chained up but okay. Getting out now.

Logan’s heart lurched as he read the text. He glanced down at Scott, who was cowering in his chair. Logan smirked. “Here’s the thing Scott. She took a screen shot of every text you sent.”

“What the fuck are you talking about?”

“When you screen shot something, it shows the name and phone number of the person it came from as well as the date and time it was sent. You don’t think the cops will find that interesting?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about. You’re bluffing. The cops will be interested in questioning you about why you’re in my house threatening me.”

Logan’s phone pinged again. We’re out. “I’ll back off for now, but I swear to you, I will get to the bottom of this. You better pray you don’t have her. I won’t leave any stone unturned.”

“Yeah, guess your bluff didn’t work very well, did it? Now get the fuck out of my house.” Scott stood and backed away. “I’m going to press charges against you, if you don’t get out now.”

Logan spun as he strode quickly back to stand in the Scott’s face, his hands fisted as he growled low and menacing. “Press charges, asshole. I. Fucking. Dare. You.”

Scott’s eyes widened and he backed up quickly as his skin paled. “Leave. Now.”

Logan stormed out of the room and threw open the front door so hard it bounced off the wall with a loud bang as he ran down the steps. He jumped into the borrowed car, fired it up, and drove quickly to where Drew and Ramsey were hidden from sight just around the corner of the house. Ramsey opened the front door and helped her inside before quickly closing it and jumping into the backseat.

“Get us out of here.” Ramsey hissed. “That fucker. Jesus.”

Logan peeled out of the drive and made his way down the road about a mile before pulling over. “Drew. Are you all right?” The look on her face tore his heart when she turned to him. “What did he do to you?”

“Please take me home. I don’t want to talk right now.”

“You want to go home?” He glanced in the rearview mirror and saw the strain in Ramsey’s eyes as he shook his head.

“I want to go to your house. I can’t go home right now.” Her voice trembled and just before she turned away, he saw the tears falling from her eyes.

They drove in silence to his home. His rage increased as his mind wondered at the horrors she had experienced at Scott’s hands. If he had hurt her in any way, Scott would pay for it. When they pulled into his drive, Ramsey hurried to help her out as Logan ran to her. “Come on, let’s get you inside. Ramsey, come with us.”

“Of course.” Ramsey held tightly onto Drew’s hand. “I’m so sorry, Princess. I should have come sooner.”

“It’s not your fault. It’s mine. You came for me. That’s all that matters.”

Logan felt the shiver shake her body. Opening the back door, he led her into the kitchen. “Ramsey, can you put water on for tea?”

  “Sure.”

Logan turned her to face him. He tucked her hair behind her ears and tilted her face up. Pain ripped through his heart. She had bruises on her face and neck, and her lip was split and swollen. Dark circles rimmed her eyes. “What did he do to you?” he whispered.

“Please don’t,” her voice was barely a whisper. She tried to pull away from him as tears fell from her eyes.

/>   “Ramsey, I’m taking her upstairs and drawing her a bath. Fix yourself whatever you want.” He put his hand on her lower back. “Come on. Let me get you cleaned up.”

Drew walked without speaking, her head down. Logan hated seeing her this way; this was not the woman he knew. He wanted nothing more than to turn around, go back to Scott’s house, and beat the shit out of him. However, the most important thing right now was to take care of Drew.

Logan sat her down on the commode and started the water. He wondered if a shower or bath would be better for her. He decided on a shower to wash everything away. He turned it on and removed his T-shirt and jeans then pulled her to her feet. He undressed her carefully, looking her over for more marks. Her wrists were bruised and red. She wouldn’t look him in the eyes as he helped her into the shower and climbed in with her. He moved her under the spray and wet her hair before pulling her toward him. He took his soap and lathered his hands then carefully washed her, checking her skin as he turned her to wash her back. She shivered and wrapped her arms around herself as sobs wracked her body. Logan pulled her back against him, wrapping his arms around hers.

“Let it out, baby. I have you. He will never hurt you again,” he breathed into her ear.

She laid her head back against his chest, took a deep breath, and sobbed. He held her as the horror of what had happened washed over him. Logan moved Drew under the water to finish rinsing her off. He turned the water off, pulled a big, fluffy towel off the rack, and carefully dried her off before helping her put on his robe. He quickly dried off and wrapped a towel around himself then led her into his room. She blinked and sat down on his bed.

“Can I stay here with you tonight?” she whispered.

  “Of course. Are you hungry?”

Shaking her head, she glanced up. “No, could you just lay with me and hold me?”

“Sure. Let me go downstairs and check on Ramsey.” He pulled her to him and wrapped her up into his arms again. He kissed the top of her head. “I’ll be right back.”

Ramsey was sitting at the kitchen table, nursing a cup of tea. “How is she?”

He shook his head. “I’m not sure. But she wants to stay here and wants me to lay down with her. Would you stay the night?” Logan could see the haunted look in his eyes. “I won’t ask you any questions.”

Ramsey smiled. “Yeah, if you don’t mind. I kind of don’t want to leave her at the moment. I’ll sleep on the sofa.”

“I have a guest room down the hall. Let’s lock up and I’ll see you in the morning. You’ll find everything you need in the room. There is a shower in the hallway bathroom. And Ramsey… Thank you.”

Drew woke and held her breath. Where was she? Her body tensed and she turned slightly before relaxing. She was with Logan. Scooting closer, she sighed when he put his arm around her and tugged her against him. Thank god, they found me. She shivered.

“Are you cold?” His warm breath brushed softly over her neck as he let go to pull the covers up over her.

“No, I wasn’t sure where I was for a moment.” She rolled over and put her hand on his cheek. “I was so afraid. For the first time in my life, I was terrified.”

“You’re safe now. I promise you.” He placed his lips on her forehead and kissed her softly. “You can sleep. I’m not going anywhere.”

“Did Ramsey leave?” She scooted closer. “I didn’t say goodbye.”

He wrapped her tighter in his arms. “No. He wanted to stay. He’s in the guest room. I owe him for helping me find you.”

“He’s a good man.” She tucked her head under his chin. “I hope Scott doesn’t try to cause trouble for you.”

“About that. We can call the police in the morning and report this. We have to. I don’t want him coming near you again.”

“I’m afraid to report it. Please, don’t ask me to.”

Logan pulled away and turned on the light. He sat up and watched her. “What is going on?”

“If I report this, things could get worse. He is crazy. I was never so afraid in my life. The things in that room were terrifying.” She sat up, crossing her arms over her chest tightly. “He chained me up.” She glanced up at him and saw his hands clench into fists as his jaw muscles twitched. “He isn’t right.”

“All the more reason to report him and let the authorities search his home. How many other women has he done this to?”

“I can’t be responsible for anyone but myself.” She saw the look on his face. “I know that disappoints you. I can see it in your eyes. I’m sorry.”

Logan shook his head as he got out the bed and moved a few steps away from her. “Are you afraid if we call the police that he’ll come after you?”

“Yes. There is so much you don’t understand.” She slid off the bed and walked to him. “Please, don’t leave me.”

“I’m not leaving you. I’m frustrated and I don’t understand why you don’t want to call the police.” He ran his hand through his hair.

“It’s complicated.” She wrapped her arms around him, snuggling closer.

“It doesn’t have to be. I promise.”

She sighed as his arms tightened around her. “Let’s go back to bed. Can we talk tomorrow?”

Once in bed, she snuggled tightly against him. “Can you just hold me?” Her thoughts were racing. How many other woman had this sick bastard done this to? Where were they and why hadn’t they reported him? As she drifted off to sleep, her thoughts turned into nightmares.

She was back in that damn basement, but this time, she’d been strapped to one of those torture devices. She was trying to get away before he returned. She heard the door open, footsteps getting closer. Drew woke, her heart threatening to gallop from her chest as she gasped for breath.

“I’ve got you. It’s all right.” His deep voice rumbled against her as he pulled her tightly to his chest. “Do you want to tell me what you were dreaming about?”

“Can we go downstairs and make some tea? I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep anymore tonight.” She felt the damn tears start falling again. Tossing the covers off, she quickly climbed off the bed, grabbed his robe, and pulled it tightly around her.

Logan was quickly by her side before she tied the belt. “You’re safe, honey. I’ll make sure of it.”

“How are you going to do that?” She turned and looked into his eyes. “I don’t think anyone can be safe from him.” She walked into his arms and let him envelop her with them. It was the only place she felt even remotely safe.

“Come on, let’s get some tea and something for you to eat.” He tugged her hand and led her down the steps.

When they got to the kitchen, Ramsey was sitting there staring out the window. “Oh, did I wake you? I’m so sorry. Couldn’t sleep so I made myself some tea.” He stood and made his way to Drew. “Princess…”

Reaching out to touch his arm, she plastered a fake smile on her lips. “I’m fine, Ramsey. I promise.”

She watched as sadness washed over his features. “You really want to lie to me? After everything we have been through, you’re going to stand there and lie to my face?” His head dropped into his hand as he scrubbed it over his face. “Fuck, I thought we were better friends than that.” His eyes made contact with Logan. “Don’t let her lie to you. Make her be truthful about this. We need help with Scott. He isn’t going to stop. I feel it in my soul. I don’t want to lose her.”

“I’m trying, Ramsey. I really am. You’re not leaving are you?” Ramsey had walked to the sink to rinse out his mug. “I think we need to put our heads together on this one.”

“I’m not going anywhere until Princess gets her head on straight, and we have him behind bars.” He moved quickly to Drew.

“What makes the two of you think we can do that?” Drew grabbed two mugs from the cabinet, making busy work for herself. She didn’t want to talk about the horror of yesterday.

“Because he hurt you. And for all we know, he has done this to other woman. If we go to t
he police now, they can get a search warrant and search his house.” Ramsey threw his hands in the air.

“And what if they can’t prove he did anything wrong? Couldn’t he lie and say the room was there when he bought the mansion. He didn’t even know it existed? Think about it. We have no proof. The police didn’t find me there—you two did. I know the police could probably find my DNA there, but it would be his word against mine. I don’t want anyone to know what happened to me. It’s bad enough you two know.”

Ramsey spun. “Then we do it a different way! We’ll frame him for a felony jewel heist.”

She drew in a sharp breath before hissing out. “Ramsey!”

“What are you talking about?” Logan glanced between them.

“Princess, it is the only way. I’ve thought long and hard about this.” He took her hand. “He cares about you.” He cocked his head at Logan. “He’s not going to say anything, if it gets Scott behind bars and keeps you safe.”

Drew turned to Logan, sadness washing over her. “You’re right, it is the only sure way to get him behind bars. I won’t feel safe again until he is off the streets.”

“What the fuck is going on? You two need to start talking right now.” Logan poured the hot water into the mugs. Ramsey grabbed his as Logan carried his and Drew’s to the table.

Drew didn’t know her heart could hurt like this. She was terrified when they were done, he’d tell them to get out, that he never wanted to see her again. She hadn’t realized until just this moment that she had such strong feelings for this man. He was so good, his soul so sweet… Would he even listen to everything or just walk away from them and wipe them out of his life? Pulling the chair out, she sat down and took his hand in hers.

“You are the kindest, sweetest, most honest person I have ever met.” She sighed. “I don’t think you should be involved in what I need to do to assure Scott goes away.”

“What are you two going to do that is so bad that I wouldn’t want to be involved?” He gave her hand a squeeze. A smile turned his mouth up.
