The Marshal's Rebellious Bride Page 23

She pushed up against him, met him drive for drive, began sweating, began twisting and turning. “I’m…oh, Morgan…”

Before she could take another breath, she shuddered and felt wetness inside her all but exploding around his shaft as he continued pounding into her. She lie still, heart racing, smiling while he strained to ram into her a couple more times.

“An…ge…lina!” he growled and held still, grimacing.

Warmth filled her and she smiled even more. “At last,” she sighed happily.

Whiskey stretched on the bed like a contented cat. She was naked and didn’t feel the least bit shy about it. He’d taken her innocence with gentleness at first and then out of desperation, but now she was ready for some of the wildness she sensed he’d held at bay. Morgan had gone downstairs to get her some water and as he walked back into the room—equally naked—carrying a pitcher she smiled. The man had muscles to admire; something else as well deserved a great deal of admiration.

“I’ve heard that a woman can,” she fluttered her eyelashes at him, “well, she can ride a man. I’d like to try it, if you don’t mind.”

He set the pitcher down with a thud as he looked at her with widened eyes. His chest rose and fell in a deep breath. “Don’t mind at all.”

He climbed on the bed and stretched out, his rod dancing up in invitation. She straddled him just as her dancer friends had instructed. Then she rose up and with his help pressed down on him. As he slid fully inside her, she moaned, “Ohhhh this is wonderful!”

His expression was tight and she felt him growing inside her. “Too damn wonderful,” he gritted out.

Pleased, she lifted until she nearly moved off him. But she didn’t. As he looked up at her in silent plea, she pressed down again, arched backward, and took him deep. “Ohhhh this is more than wonderful.”

She stopped moving, savored the feel of him so full inside her. She closed her eyes and slowly moved her hips in small circles and the sensations made her nearly fly apart.

He grabbed her waist and began forcing her to move up and down. She didn’t stop him. Instead she cooperated to the best of her ability, leaned forward and braced her hands on his shoulders. They moved together over and over until she cried out, until he shouted her name.

Finally she collapsed over him and fell instantly asleep.

Morgan held her tightly to him. He loved this woman with all his heart. Together they would build this ranch, they would have more children, and maybe…just maybe…he’d accept that she wanted to doctor animals, although he would rather it just be her current ones and possibly a dog or a cat.

They had just finished breakfast—that he’d made—when someone knocked loudly on the back door. The knock was quickly followed by a man shouting, “Whiskey? You in there? I got an urgent message for you.”

She shrugged at Morgan, who looked definitely unhappy about the invasion of their privacy. Considering they were both walking around naked and planning to head back to the bedroom, she was reluctant to respond. But the man had said “urgent.”

“Come back another time,” Morgan snarled even as she snagged a long duster coat from a wall peg near the door and wrapped it around her.

“But Dog Kelley said it was urgent,” the man complained in a whine.

She stepped to the door, ignored her glowering husband, and inched the door open enough to look at the scrawny man who worked for Dog Kelley, Dodge City’s mayor. He blinked at her coat, and then blushed to the roots of his thinning hair.

“What’s so important, Horace? This isn’t really a good time.”

“It’s his bear,” the man said warily, sensing Morgan was lurking close by. “Somehow it got free last night. Wandered into town, went into the hotel. He crawled into bed with some drunken traveling salesman.”

  “Bear?” Morgan growled in disbelief.

Horace swallowed hard and rushed on with his story. “When the man woke up and found the bear…Well, he jumped out of bed. The bear fell off, too. Then this man somehow managed to step on the bear’s paw before he ran screaming from the room. Mayor Kelley thinks his bear’s foot is broke. He thought maybe you could fix it. Doc Peterson wouldn’t have nothing to do with the critter.”

Morgan jerked the door open not the least bit concerned at having the man see him bare-assed naked. “And neither will my wife,” he bellowed.

She tilted up her chin. “I’ll get there as soon as I can.”

Horace fled as fast as he could move. “I’ll tell him.”

Morgan slammed the door and turned to face her, but she was already thinking about what she’d need to take with her. She’d never worked with a bear before, but she knew Hound Dog’s bear. He was pretty tame. And now he was suffering. She really hated that.

“You are not going to doctor some damn bear!” Morgan commanded. “What the hell is he doing with a bear anyway? Damn fool.”

“I’m going and that’s that.” She tossed off the duster and hurried toward the bedroom. He would follow her, she knew that, but she’d made her decision.

He grabbed her just as she was reaching for her britches. He spun her around to face him. “You’re not risking your life to doctor a bear. I just can’t allow it.”

She saw the fear for her in his eyes, heard it in his voice. While she was still mad at him, she understood. She worried about him, too. She reached up to touch his stubbled jaw. “I have to do this, Morgan. He’s suffering and I know I can help him.”

He ground his jaw and blew out a deep breath. “On two conditions.”

She had a feeling she wouldn’t particularly like his conditions, but clearly they would be making a lot of compromises in their marriage. She supposed she was okay with that. As long as he gave in a little, too.

As she nodded agreement, he said, “First, that I’m going with you and if that damn bear even looks at you wrong, I’ll put him down.”

When she pursed her lips in disapproval, he continued on, “Second, I’m going to spank you good for insisting upon this when you know I’m against it.”

“Now or later?” she asked, annoyed that he appeared determined to punish her for this.

“Later, I suppose.” He turned to get dressed in a hurry, obviously afraid she would get dressed first and leave without him.

Nearly half a day later Whiskey sat irritated on the wagon seat. She didn’t want to get down. Something unpleasant would be happening soon, too soon. But Morgan hurried around to her side and simply picked her up and plunked her on her feet. He frowned at the bandage wrapped around her forearm from where the bear had scratched her. It had taken all her skills at persuasion to convince her furious husband not to shoot the bear who had only swiped at her by accident. Injured or not, she was going to face his determined punishment.

One of the ranch hands walked up and looked like he wished he hadn’t when Morgan glowered in his direction. “Take care of the horse, put the wagon away.” He nudged her toward the house. “I got business to tend to.”

She stomped off, hissing over her shoulder, “Did you have to say that? You know what he’s going to think.”

“That I’m upset with my wife? That I’m planning on heating up her bottom? He’d be right then.”

She sped along and wondered why in the world she’d married this stubborn man. “I should have just let you leave town,” she grumbled as she jerked open the front door.

“But I’m here and you married me.” He nudged her toward the parlor and the settee. “You promised to love, honor and obey me. Everyone in town heard you say those words. Now, again, you’re going to experience what happens when you choose not to obey me.”

She stopped to look at him in challenge. “I told you before we left that I’d accept your spanking when we got home. How is that not obeying you?”

He sat down and tugged her in front of him. “I hadn’t really planned on spanking you right then. I was testing you.”

  He reached to undo h
er britches and she stiffened. “I changed my mind, though, when you decided not to let me in the room with you and that damn bear. When you locked me out.”

She sucked in her stomach as his fingers brushed her skin when he pulled the britches down to her knees. She hadn’t wasted time putting on drawers, so she stood there partially naked and somewhat embarrassed. “You owe the hotel a new door, too. You didn’t have to bust it down.”

“Bend over.” He patted his lap. When she didn’t move, he tugged her over his lap. “That’ll cost you.”

Whiskey settled into place and flattened her palms on the floor. Her braid whipped around to hit her in the chin. “I’ll be standing to eat supper and sleeping on my stomach anyway.”

“That you will.” Then he got right down to proving her right. His big hand flew up and down in a room-echoing Smack!

“Yeow!” She wriggled and then determined to take whatever he intended to give her. Not happily, but she’d take it.

He spanked her long and hard, covered every inch of her bottom. When she threw a hand protectively back, he captured it and held it pinned to her back. Then he spanked her even harder. He didn’t say another word and she took the spanking as best she could. She’d finally realized he was spanking her not only for disobeying and scaring him today, but also for nearly getting killed when Marino had taken her. He had a lot of fear for her built up inside him and seemed to need this release. So she endured.

Finally she was wriggling for all she was worth and kicking as well. Her quiet sobs had turned to a scream of misery. “I’m sorrrrry! Ohhhhh please. I’m soooo sorrrry.”

His hand stilled on her bottom with the final Smack! Then before she could even recover, he pulled her to her feet and sat her on his lap. She yelped at the immediate pain that caused and then looked into his tear-filled eyes.

“God, Angelina, I love you so damn much.”

Ignoring the tears on her face and the fact that he’d just royally burned her bottom, she gasped, “I love you, too.”

“I want to make love to you,” he said huskily, breathing raggedly.

“Maybe later?” She wanted him, too, but…

He nodded. “I’ll settle for a kiss then for now.” Which she gladly accepted.

When he eased back again and wiped at her tears, he said thoughtfully, “We’re going to have a hell of a marriage, aren’t we, my rebellious bride?”

She shrugged, knowing she’d spend a lot of time over his knee getting spanked in the years to come. But she loved the big, gruff man anyway.
