by White, Jane S.

“You like him?” Aaron asked her a little downcast.

“I never said that,” Lydia said quickly, trying to defend herself. Why would she like a jerk like him, someone who treated her friends without respect and who took off with her friend? Yet, Lydia couldn’t shake off the feeling, that she was genuinely attracted to that man like she had never been attracted to anyone else before.

Aaron kept listening as she ranted about Victoria’s betrayal. He was quiet throughout the ordeal, letting her vent out. But inside, that small flame of hope that had ignited not too long ago, was quickly snuffed out. He wished he could just find the courage he needed, to tell Lydia how he felt, but at this point, her heart and her attention belonged to someone else. Someone who was his sworn enemy by nature.

He shuddered as he thought about what would happen if Lydia truly fell for him, falling into his trap like a fly in a spider’s web. It could result in a life or death scenario. Whatever the case, it would surely mean a battle between angel and demon: a possibly catastrophic event.

Looking at Lydia, the angel knew he couldn’t let his charge fall into the devil’s trap.

  Chapter 6

Days later, Lydia jumped as she heard someone knocking on her door. Putting her book down with a sigh, her mind wondered who it could be. She had been in a sour mood since the bar and had turned into a bit of an introvert, avoiding her friends in her semi-depression. It was her own fault for letting Victoria drag her there.

She had never reacted this much over a man before, and she couldn’t understand why it was happening now. She barely knew this man, so why was he affecting her so much? Trying to push his rugged face out of her mind, she walked up to the door. The peephole was useless in her miniature size so she just opened up the door.

Standing in her doorway was her excited friend, beaming down at her. “Lydia! I thought you were dead! You never returned any of my calls or texts! I was getting worried!” She said, a bit too dramatic as she brought the small girl into a hug, squeezing her tightly. “I missed you.”

Lydia managed to squirm away before looking up at her friend. “Missed you too, Vic,” she muttered, looking a little uncomfortable. Victoria smiled nonetheless. Her bright green eyes looked excited as if something monumental had happened and she was about to spill with gossip.

“Lydia! I have the best news.” She said eagerly, putting her expensive handbag on the couch. Lydia eyed it suspiciously, wondering where she got the money to buy such a purse. She, however, did not have much time to think about it, before Victoria grabbed her hands, holding them up to her chest in excitement. “I got you a date!”

  “With who?” Lydia retorted quickly.

“Sebastian!” She cooed happily, looking proud of her accomplishment. Lydia’s cheeks instantly colored for a moment, before she looked away.

  “I’m not going.”

“Oh yes, you are! He already reserved a table for you two. It’s a really posh restaurant too.” She whispered her last sentence, her voice laced with excitement for her friend.

“No. I’m not,” Lydia answered stubbornly, turning away, trying to walk into the kitchen.

“C’mon, you have to! He’s great! Best night I’ve ever had!” Victoria’s voice was so high pitched, that Ms. Souvlakis’ beagle howled out in response. Nevertheless, she followed Lydia, trying to get her attention. But at this point, Lydia was mad. She didn’t want to be someone’s second choice. She especially didn’t want to hear about Victoria and Sebastian’s night together.

“You do like him, right?” Victoria implored, getting in her face. Lydia sighed and looked up at her friend, clearly exasperated.

“No!” She yelled back, making her friend pout.

“No? Don’t lie. I saw that look on your face at the bar. I know you like him, it was obvious!” Victoria tried to defend her judgment, attempting to look into her friend’s eyes, but Lydia quickly moved her head down, covering them with some hair.

  “I’m not going.”

  “Please… for me.”

  “No.”

  “For him?”

  “No.”

  “C’mon, c’mon, c’mon!” Victoria whined like a little kid.

“FINE! I’ll go if it’ll make you stop!” Victoria smiled in victory, before grabbing her friend and running upstairs.

“Great, he’s picking you up at seven. That gives us just enough time to get you ready!” She giggled happily, looking through Lydia’s closet. Lydia frowned, sitting on her bed, upset. On one hand she was mad at her friend for being with the guy she liked, but on the other hand, she was grateful for the date she would have otherwise been too shy to instigate.

  ***

A few hours later and Lydia was ready for her date. Victoria had managed to coax her friend, (with a couple more whines) to put on a tight-fitting red dress. It had a flirtatious slit on one side and was a bit too short for Lydia’s comfort. She did not want to go out in public like this. She would have preferred a nice modest dress for a first date, but Victoria’s whining was too much to handle.

By the time Sebastian pulled up in his Lamborghini, Lydia was nervous. She hadn’t dated much in the past and now, as she looked at the expensive car she felt self-conscious. Was he rich? What if he didn’t like her back? A million doubts spewed in her mind, threatening to overwhelm her, as she took tentative steps forward, lured by him and his mysteriously dark eyes.

To her surprise, he acted like a perfect gentleman, opening the door for her and holding her hand to make sure she wouldn’t fall. After his behavior at the club, she didn’t expect that at all, but it was indeed a pleasant surprise. Soon, they were at the restaurant together and Lydia was a swirling entropy of nerves.

One look at him from across the table sent her body into an overload of emotions. She felt scared, nervous, excited, and adventurous all at the same time. Throughout the date, as Sebastian was flirting, her cheeks reddened, but more than that, a heat started to grow between her legs. This made the flame in her cheeks grow crimson until her mind was corrupted by naughty thoughts. It wasn’t like her to be this bad, but she couldn’t help it. When she was with Sebastian, it was like she was a totally different person, like a spell had been cast on her.

As they ate dessert, she looked at his sexy body, subtly through his dress shirt and tight fitting dress pants. Lydia blushed but smiled to herself.

“Can I ask what you’re smiling about over there?” Sebastian asked as he licked the edge of his spoon sensually, grabbing the last piece of ice cream. Lydia bit her lip, before looking away, a little embarrassed that she was caught staring.

“Oh, like what you see, hmm?” He teased, leaning in close and kissing her cheek, his lips lingering near her ear. “If you want, you can see the rest, free of charge,” he whispered, tempting her.

Her heartbeat quickened at the offer. A part of her wanted to let loose and follow this man into the unknown territory of lust and sin, but another part of her was still afraid of the venture. She sat back, moving away from him.

“No… sorry, I’m not ready… yet.” She added in as if soon she would agree. He smirked slightly, catching the small detail. Soon she would give in. Soon she would be his.

  Chapter 7

The date had been a little awkward from that moment on, but Lydia did manage to come home after having a fun time. Still, she knew little about the mysterious man, but yet all she wanted was to be with him. She couldn’t understand the turmoil going through her, she just wanted to tell someone about it.

Walking into her home, she tossed off her heels and padded her way up the stairs to her room, before flopping down onto the bed. Grabbing her phone, she dialed Victoria’s number, hoping she was still awake.

“Lydia! I was hoping you would call! How did it go!?” She yelled into the phone, making Lydia cringe.

  “Not so loud, jeez.”

“Sorry. I am so excited.” She whispered, giggling to herself through the phone.

  “It was actually…
pretty nice.”

“So you do like him! I knew it!” She squealed excitedly, once again making Lydia cringe.

  “…Maybe…”

“Do you know how long I have been trying to get you a boyfriend?”

“Since we discovered that boys don’t have cooties after all,” Lydia said sarcastically.

“Exactly! Now I can hook you up with someone who is rich and hot. How lucky are you?”

“Well, he might not even be into me, Vic,” Lydia answered, feeling a little sad at her own words. A part of her doubted him ever liking her. She had the feeling he went for girls like Victoria. The ones who were hot, ready, and willing. She sighed softly into the phone.

“He totally likes you.” Lydia rolled her eyes and sat up hugging her knees. “Oh, by the way, will you come with me tomorrow?”

  “Where?”

  “My new job!” She exclaimed.

  “Huh?”

“Sebastian got me a new job.”

“Oh, is that so? That’s great.” Lydia said as jealousy crept into her voice.

“Oh c’mon babe, it’s not like that, honest. He’s helping me with my dream!” Lydia was now really confused.

  “Explain.”

“So apparently Sebastian owns a modeling agency and he thinks I would make a great model,” Victoria said excitedly. Lydia was shocked.

  “Really?”

“Yup! You’ll come see me on my first day, right?” She asked hopefully. Lydia smiled warmly and nodded. Even though she was a little jealous of Victoria’s relationship with Sebastian, she was still excited for her friend’s achievement.

“Of course. I wouldn’t miss it for the world.”

  ***

The next day, the girls walked into the modeling agency. It was a large skyscraper building, nestled in the heart of the city. As they craned their necks, trying to see the top of it, a large sign read CRONUS CORP, which shined brightly in their eyes.

“Does Sebastian own this whole building?” Lydia asked in awe. She knew he was rich, judging by his car, but she didn’t think he was this rich.

“No, no. But his family does. He owns floor number thirteen. His modeling agency is called Temptation, isn’t that cool?” She glowed with excitement, before grabbing her friend’s wrist, dragging her inside.

Soon enough Victoria was being pulled into the dressing room by some of the employees. Lydia stood there awkwardly, as she watched the flimsy pieces of clothing being passed to her friend. What kind of modeling was this anyway? Lydia however, remained quiet, not wanting to sour her achievement.

Eventually, Victoria emerged from the dressing room with a silky robe on her perfect body. Her shapely legs were on display, making her seem even taller than she really was. “I like this place,” Victoria said with a naughty grin on her face, twirling the tie of the robe as if it were some sort of baton.

“Please come with us, Miss Paulson.” Victoria giggled when she was addressed so formally and followed them into a room set up for a photo shoot. Lydia lingered in the background, watching with curiosity as they got her friend in position on the white canvas. Soon enough Victoria untied her robe, letting it drop to the ground. Lydia colored when she saw her friend’s outfit.

She was wearing next to nothing. Her chest was bare, her lower region was barely covered and her wrists sported what looked like shackles. Lydia watched in horror as they started to put little accessories on her, completing the BDSM look. Victoria seemed to love it, however. Lydia, on the other hand, was slightly mortified. She never thought her friend would subject herself to this kind of stuff. She didn’t even once think Vicky was into bondage or whatever else BDSM stood for.

Quickly, Lydia left the room, her face red. She looked around for a vending machine, hoping a drink would calm her down. She spotted one at the end of the hallway and quickened her step. As she approached it, however, she heard footsteps behind her and turned around quickly.

Her heart quickened and her breath got caught in her throat, as she looked up at Sebastian standing there, a naughty grin on his face. He seemed amused by her composure and stepped closer, closing the gap between them. Lydia stepped back, shying away from him. What kind of man owned a modeling agency like this, anyway? It was practically a porn shoot in Lydia’s eyes.

“Hey… don’t come any closer.” Lydia said quickly. She couldn’t possibly be attracted to someone like this. She was a good girl, with a bright future of ahead of her. Liking him would mean venturing into the dark world of sin and temptation. She bit her lip, trying to look determined, but Sebastian just chuckled, pushing her up against the wall.

She was breathing a little heavy now, as his body was inches away from hers. His hands rested on the wall, trapping her there, making her feel vulnerable. As his hips pressed into hers, her body trembled in reaction and she blushed deeply. What was it about this man that made her hate him, but at the same time burn with desire?

“C’mon, I know you want to join your friend in there. I can put you in some cuffs, blindfold you, and play around with some toys. What do you say?” He whispered in her ear, making her blush even deeper.

Before Lydia could react, and before their encounter could turn more intimate, the sound of high heels echoed throughout the hallway, causing both of them to turn their heads. Victoria smirked, a newfound confidence in her face as she swayed her hips, the silky robe hugging her body nicely.

“And what are you two up to?” She raised an eyebrow, her eyes gleaming with curiosity. Could it be that her friend was finally giving into her naughty side?

  Chapter 8

After their awkward encounter at Temptation, Lydia tried to forget about Sebastian. She ignored his calls, and, more importantly, Victoria’s pleas for her to go on another date with him. But, she wasn’t sure. A part of her still wanted to have him, every inch of him, wrapped around her, making her feel amazing like she knew no one else could, but at the same time, she couldn’t step out of her comfort zone and go for it. He was a bad boy by her definition of things and she just couldn’t allow herself to fall for someone who wouldn’t benefit her life in at least some positive way.

It was a burden for her troubled mind, but she kept pushing him away, hoping one day he would just give up. But he was persistent and so was Victoria. The only person she had left, who didn’t talk about the mysterious man from the club was Aaron. But he was also acting strangely, a little mellow in fact.

So she invited him to grab some coffee together, something he used to love doing with her. Aaron of course, quickly agreed, eager to spend some time with his friend. He was hopeful, that maybe she had finally given up liking the demon and that she had come to her senses. And maybe, just maybe, he would finally get the chance to tell her how he felt.

He walked up to her door and smiled before knocking. Lydia answered the door quickly. Aaron blushed a bit when he saw her. She was wearing a knee-length skirt and a light blouse. Around her neck, was a scarf that rested on her large chest, making Aaron blush a little harder as he tried not to stare for too long. He forced his eyes up toward her face, making her smile.

“Ready?” She chimed, before hugging him. He chuckled, smiling happily as his cheeks reddened further. “Something wrong?” She asked in concern, seeing his flushed face. He quickly shook his head, trying not to give himself away.

“I’m great actually, now that you’re with me,” he whispered, trying to be sweet. She giggled, her own cheeks turning rosy in response. He smiled as she grabbed his hand and pulled him down the entranceway.

“Let’s go Mr. Romantic.” He chuckled and nodded. Together, they made their way through the town, enjoying the beautiful day. It was peaceful and serene, and Aaron wished, that he had more moments like this with his friend.

Soon, to Aaron’s dismay, they made it to the coffee shop. As usual, Aaron pulled out Lydia’s chair for her, making her smile. “Always the gentleman, I see,” she commented, fixing her scarf, catching Aaron’s eye once more. Excitement coursed
through his body, but he tried to calm down, not wanting to ruin their innocent date.

“Of course, milady,” he said jokingly, before sitting down. “Do you know what you want? I’ll go order.”

  Lydia nodded. “My usual.”

He nodded, walking toward the counter. As he stood in line, he contemplated what he would tell Lydia once he got back to the table. He was confident that this time, he would actually tell Lydia how he felt. It was now or never.

But unknown to him, as he stood there, his enemy, Sebastian walked through the door of the coffee shop. Aaron could sense something was off, but he didn’t think to turn around, his mind was too preoccupied with his mission to come. However, Sebastian quickly spotted Lydia, making his way over to her with an almost cocky expression on his face.

He could sense the angel, knowing he was probably nearby, accompanying the girl. Sebastian grinned at the thought, of the angel’s reaction at seeing him there. With this in mind, he sat down next to the girl.

Lydia nearly jumped out of her seat, when she noticed him sitting there. Despite her best efforts, her mind had once again wandered off to him, this time taking an even naughtier turn. In her world of fantasy, Sebastian was showing her so many untold pleasures, making her feel ecstasy like never before. She wanted to know, what it would feel like to have his lips on her skin and his hands on her most intimate of places. The thought of all these things had created a burning sensation between her thighs and her hand was about to creep down to quench this wild thirst until she realized she was sitting in a coffee shop.

But when she looked over and saw Sebastian, it was like her fantasies had transformed into a reality, and she found herself almost flying across the table. She wanted him, not knowing why. Her brain was telling her to stop, but her body was giving her the green light.
