“Thanks,” I remarked and Lincoln thumped my back some more.

“We will always have your back, Jackson. No matter how hard you insist that you don’t need our help,” he said.

“I was just trying to keep you guys out of this. I was the one who got Skylar in this mess, and I wanted to fix it myself,” I said and looked at Skylar.

Ford was standing with his arm around her protectively.

“Well, you can give all your excuses to Ford when we see him. Tell him why you didn’t call for reinforcements!” Lincoln exclaimed and I grunted. I wasn’t looking forward to that conversation. On the plus side, I knew Ford and the entire clan was going to be relieved when they found out that the coyotes weren’t going to be a real problem for us—at least not for a while.

“In the meantime, we should take you home. Ford is going to be so happy to see you. He’s been worried sick about you all these years,” Lincoln told Skylar and her cheeks flushed.

“I can’t wait to see him again,” she responded and I reached for her hand.

It was time that I introduced her to the clan as the woman I was in love with. As my true mate. Although I suspected everyone already knew that.

Lincoln and Grant sniggered, as the four of us made our way to the cars so we could drive back to our lodge. It had already been a long night, but now that Skylar was back—I knew none of us were getting any sleep.

She looked at me and smiled. I kissed her cheek lightly and told her again that I loved her.

  Skylar

  Six Months later

I woke up in bed to find Jackson’s side empty. In the past six months, this had never happened before. I’d never woken up alone. Jackson was there to greet me every morning with a sleepy kiss. When I touched his side of the bed, it was cold and a sudden fear gripped me. Where was he? Had something happened?

I sat up with a start and was about to get out of bed when our bedroom door opened.

“Where do you think you’re going?” he asked, with a grin on his face. I nearly laughed out loud. He was wearing an apron and had a tray in his hands. He came towards me and I saw he’d made me my favorite breakfast—pancakes with whipped cream and maple syrup. There was a pot of steaming coffee on the tray too and a small crystal vase with one red rose.

“Happy Birthday, my beautiful,” he said and leaned in to give me a kiss.

“You didn’t have to…” my voice trailed as his kiss got deeper. He put the tray on my bedside table and sat down on my side of the bed.

Jackson wasn’t wearing a shirt, and my hands travelled all over his torso, feeling the strength of his muscles under my fingertips.

“Did you think I’d disappeared?” he asked, tucking my curls in behind my ears.

I blushed and he kissed my forehead.

“You should know by now, Skylar, I’m not going anywhere,” he said and I nodded. I knew he worried about me. I still got nightmares sometimes. I woke up in a cold sweat, imagining that I was back in the warehouse. My hands tied and Liam smiling at me.

But Jackson was always there to calm me down when that happened. All I needed was to be in his arms and I was reminded of the happy life we now led.

He laid out the breakfast for me and poured coffee in two mugs. We shared the food, talking and laughing as we ate. Every morning I was grateful that I was with him, that we’d found each other again.

The weeks following the warehouse fight were turbulent, but Jackson had made me a promise that he would bring normality to our lives. And he had.

With Liam and Braden dead, the remaining members of the coyote pack were powerless. One of which was Ben, the junkie who didn’t want anything to do with the business. Jackson had gone to speak to him soon after the fight, and made a deal with him. The clan was going to leave him and any others on his side alone, as long as they didn’t retaliate and plan another revenge.

Ben had quickly agreed to that deal.

After that, there was the business of settling the remaining score with the anyone left in the coyote pack. While there were certainly still tensions between the coyote pack and bear clan, things had been quiet for a little while.

Within a few weeks; things had settled down and it seemed like Jackson and I could finally begin our life together.

He bought a house, close to the lodge and we moved in together. He wanted me to go back to college and finish my teaching degree. So, I enrolled myself in classes and in the evenings, and spent time with the clan. Charlotte and I had gotten especially close in the last couple of weeks.

It was like when we were younger—we were all a family again, and I felt like I finally belonged. This was exactly what I’d been yearning for, all those years in Atlanta while I was away from Nashville.

Now, as Jackson ate; I stared at his face. Thankful again that everything had worked out. I knew that wherever my father was, he was looking down on us and was glad that we were together. That I was being well looked after.

“What are you thinking, beautiful?” Jackson asked, as he wiped his mouth with the back of his hand.

“About how lucky I am,” I told him.

Jackson put the tray aside again and slipped into bed with me.

“I’m the lucky one, if you ask me,” he said, kissing the tip of my nose.

“Well, I’m not asking you, am I?” I retorted and giggled as he started tickling me furiously. Soon enough, Jackson had wedged himself between my legs and was kissing my thighs.

I chewed on my lip, already feeling a wave of desire rise up in me. I couldn’t get enough of this man. It was like the more time passed, the more I wanted him. The surer I was that I could never live without him.

Jackson untied the apron from his waist, but before he flicked it away to the floor; I watched as he pulled a small velvet box out of its pocket.

I stopped giggling immediately when I recognized the box. It contained jewelry…a very particular kind of jewelry. Jackson flipped it open, sitting between my legs and staring into my eyes.

I gasped when I saw the beautiful diamond ring. It glittered in the morning light that was streaming into the room. It had a huge diamond, and a sapphire studded band. I’d never seen a ring as beautiful as this before.

  “Jackson…” my voice trailed.

He smiled at me and ran a hand through his hair.

“I’ve always wanted to ask you this question, Skylar, and I don’t think I can wait anymore,” he began. I realized I was holding my breath. “Will you do me the honor of being my wife? I promise I will spend my whole life trying to make you happy. I want to take care of you the way you deserve.”

I was breathing hard. It was a dream come true. Marrying Jackson was all I ever wanted, even though it had always felt unrealistic to me. I nodded my head.

“Yes!” I squealed with a laugh and he laughed too.

I lifted my hand up to him, and Jackson slipped the ring on my finger where it shone. I threw my arms around him and he kissed me deeply.

“I really am the luckiest guy in the whole world. I’m going to marry my best friend,” he said and I kissed him back. How was it that he was always capable of making me feel so treasured? Like I was worth a million dollars.

Jackson sank into me, pushing me down in bed so that I couldn’t move under him.

His hands were everywhere, pulling down my tiny cotton shorts and rolling up the spaghetti top I was wearing in bed.

I thrust my hips up to meet him and he stroked the swollen folds of my pussy.

His mouth was on my neck, his tongue rolled down until he’d found the quivering peaks of my breasts. He flicked my nipples with his tongue and I moaned. With one hand, he squeezed the other nipple while I wriggled under the weight of him. He was strong and I was weak underneath him…exactly how I wanted to feel. I felt safe.

Jackson sucked on my nipples till they felt raw, and then he flipped me around. He was going to take me from behind.

He positioned me exactly the way he wa
nted me—on all fours. I was facing the bed post, holding on to it with both hands. My butt was stuck out towards him and he slapped them, one by one.

My body shook with the sting of the slap—just the way I liked it. He spanked me again and I moaned.

“Please, Jackson…” I mewled and reached my hand down to my wet throbbing pussy.

I could hear him undoing his pants. I could feel the heat of his cock as he guided himself towards me. Within moments, he’d parted the folds of my pussy and he was inside me. His cock had filled me deep and he was moving.

As I held the bed post, I could see the diamond ring glittering on my finger. I was going to be married to Jackson…I was reminded of that again. I was finally going to have the life I’d always dreamt of.

He thrust his big throbbing cock in me and I felt myself being pushed to the edge of an orgasm. I was going to come very soon. Sooner than I’d expected.

Inch by inch, he pushed deeper into me and I squealed his name with pleasure. The bed shook with the motions of his thrusts. I could hear him growling behind me too.

Then there was an explosion inside me. I rubbed my clit, with my hand wedged between my thighs…helping the orgasm to take over my body. I shook and trembled as I came. Jackson was coming too.

I could feel him shooting his cum inside me and I cried out his name. He grabbed me by my shoulders and rode me wild. His cock in and out of me, pushing me, sliding over me till my orgasm finally began to diminish.

I was panting, covered in sweet sweat. Jackson had emptied himself in me and slowly, he began to pull his cock out.

We both crashed on to the bed together, exhausted and content. We were staring up at the ceiling, trying to catch our breath.

I held up my hand to admire my ring again. I still couldn’t get over how he’d selected the most perfect ring for me. But then again, there was nobody else on Earth who knew me as well as Jackson did.

“When are we telling the clan?” I asked, turning to him…still panting as I spoke.

“They know. They’ve seen the ring. Charlotte was the one who helped me pick it out. They couldn’t wait for me to propose so we could celebrate together,” Jackson replied.

He reached for my face, tracing shapes on my cheek with his finger.

“This is the best birthday I could have hoped for,” I told him and Jackson smirked.

“I just want to make you happy, beautiful. We’ve wasted so much time being apart,” he said and I shook my head.

“I’m thankful for everything. For everything we’ve been through. Now, we can finally be happy. We can have our own family and put everything behind us. I just wish that my dad was here to see all this. He would have been so happy,” I answered and tried not to choke up.

Jackson leaned over and kissed my cheek.

“I’m sorry, Skylar. I will always regret not being able to stop it,” he said.

“There was nothing you could have done. You weren’t there, you were only fifteen!” I argued. He nodded his head but I could see that he still wasn’t convinced.

“I love you, Jackson, and we are together now, that is all that matters,” I told him. He smiled at me and caught my hand, bringing it to his lips so he could kiss it.

Jackson and I kissed again and rolled in bed together, until we forced ourselves to get out of bed so we could celebrate. Now it felt like every day was a celebration with him. I’d never known happiness like this before.
