Being the adopted daughter of the world’s most famous rock star, Colter Slade has its perks. A rich lifestyle, designer clothes, enough money to buy all the pretty things you desire. But does being Daddy’s little princess mean you’re satisfied with your life?
Ella Slade has it all, she has her own band, the right friends and family supporting her as she grows into this crazy world of paparazzi, minion fans and the crazy hype that constantly surrounds her family. But what Ella craves goes much deeper than superstardom. Ella loves the limelight, she always has, and with her best friend Chad by her side anything is possible.
Her band Staked goes on tour and her world is thrown into chaos when she meets the handsome and mysterious Danger, the lead singer from the backing band Recoil.
Ella is taken on a whirlwind of emotions on the roller coaster of life as she embarks on a journey of self-discovery. How do you choose between the safe life you've known all along and something far more dangerous? She must decide who to turn to - the one that's been there all along - or the new Danger that threatens to turn her world on its axis.
Who will she choose, Danger or Chad? Was there ever really a choice to be made?

About the Author – K E Osborn
It was a warm evening and the whole family were out down by the willow tree playing. Daddy was pushing Annie on the swing set and Mummy and me were playing UNO as we sat on a rug under the tree watching Annie laugh at Daddy, who was making faces at her. I was turning six the next week and we were going to have a great big party. Mummy said I could even have ponies there for everyone to ride on. I couldn’t wait!
“So we’re going to have those little fairy cakes you like for your party, Ella, and your father said he’s going to get a jumping castle brought in too. How would you like that?” Mummy asked and I opened my eyes wide and nodded with excitement.
“That will be so much fun. I can’t wait for my party Mummy, it’s going to be so cool with all the ponies and stuff. I can’t wait for Chad to come over so I can play with him. He’s so much fun, he makes me laugh so hard,” I said as I put down a ‘Draw Four’ card.
Mummy huffed and then giggled as she picked up four cards.
“Yeah, he certainly is a funny kid, so full of energy, I don’t know how Sia keeps up with him,” Mummy said. Looking over to where Daddy was pushing Annie on the swing, she was giggling so much it made me smile. Suddenly a knot formed in my stomach and I started to feel uneasy and a little sick.
Mummy looked at me and furrowed her brows. “What’s wrong, baby?”
“Annie’s going too high,” I said as I looked over at Daddy, who was still pushing Annie on the swing. Annie laughed and let go clapping her hands together in excitement and Daddy and Mummy both gasped as Annie swung out from the swing and catapulted toward the ground. She let out an almighty scream as Daddy rushed toward her and picked her up as she started crying and holding her arm.
“Oh God, Annie?” Mummy called out rushing over while Daddy assessed Annie’s arm.
“Colt, why the hell would you push her so high?” Mummy yelled. Daddy shook his head and held onto Annie tighter as she cried and cried.
I stood back and held myself as they fussed over her.
“I don’t think it’s broken,” Daddy said pulling on Annie’s arm as she wrapped it around his neck crying into his shoulder.
“Are you okay, baby?” Mummy asked cuddling into her while she gripped tightly onto Daddy.
She nodded her head and Mummy wiped away her tears.
“Okay, I think play time is over. Let’s go inside and have some hot chocolate, hey?” Mummy said. Annie cheered up straight away and jumped from Daddy’s arms and ran toward the house seeming perfectly fine. Mummy shook her head and walked over to me while Daddy chased after Annie.
“You’re always excellent at sensing danger aren’t you my little, Ella?” Mummy said as she bent down and pulled me up onto her hip.
I nodded and smiled.
“That’s a good skill to have, it won’t let you down. Just trust in yourself, Ella. Whenever it tells you something’s wrong, you trust it. Remember that, okay?”
I smiled and nodded. “Okay, Mummy. Can we have hot chocolate now?”
We started the walk toward the manor.
“Yeah, baby girl, we better get inside before your sister drinks it all.”
Those words from my mother about ‘trusting in myself’ I’ve always listened to, and they have always worked for me.
That is until now. Now, I have no idea!
My body is telling me one thing and my heart another.
Do I follow my heart or my body? I don’t know which way to go…
Most girls at the young age of seventeen can’t say they’ve had the same start in life I’ve had. I was adopted at six-months-old and taken in by a celebrity couple. None other than the world’s most famous rock star Colter Slade and his wife Lia, along with their other adopted daughter Annie. I’ve grown up with celebrities and being in the limelight, so my life has not been normal by any stretch of the imagination. But my parents have done the best they can with me and my sister. And even though Annie can be a brat she’s trying her hardest to be a better person, especially now that she’s finally together with the love of her life Aston.
They’ve been best friends forever and have finally taken that step of being more and I couldn’t be happier for them. It makes life for my band Staked much easier when they’re getting along. And seeing as we’re just starting our world tour as one of the backing bands for our parents’ band Slayed, it’s good to know they’ll be on fire on stage together. My band Staked started when I was about four-years-old and my sister Annie, cousin Caleb, family friends Aston and Chad all being the kids of the world famous Slayed band members, we were destined to follow in the musical footsteps of our parents. We started out playing for fun, but as we got older our band grew tighter and we played really well together, so we became more serious and started practicing all the time. That’s led us to where we are today.
I’m in the green room at Wembley Stadium and the buzz filling the air is electric. I’m so nervous it’s making me starving, but I need to try and control my eating tonight. My nervous eating habit is so annoying, I wish I had some other quirk like being grumpy which is Annie or running up and down the halls in some dirty old socks like Chad. But I guess eating isn’t so bad, right? I just need to make sure I don’t eat the bad stuff, so I don’t put on too much weight. I have an image to uphold and no one wants a pimply faced rock star, right?
I look over and notice Annie and Aston all cuddled up and canoodling in the corner, and I figure I need a distraction from my grumbling stomach. Moving across to them, I interrupt their conversation.
“Have you guys met the members of Recoil yet?”
Annie shakes h
er head. Recoil are the other backing band on this tour.
“Nope, have you?”
I shake my head. “Nope, but I can’t wait to meet them. Especially considering we’re going to be spending the next six months with them. I hope they’re nice,” I say and Annie smirks.
“Well, don’t be surprised if they’re douchewads. I bet they’re so far up themselves—”
“Who’s up themselves?” a man asks in a smooth American accent, and as his voice washes over me, a shudder runs right through my very soul. Turning to look at him, the first thing I notice are his bright, intense blue eyes. He’s looking right at me and his stare is so acute that it makes my knees feel weak. I swallow hard as a lump forms in my throat while every inch of my body begins to tingle. I take in his short dark black hair and his muscular body covered entirely in tattoos. They’re arranged all the way up his neck stopping right on his jaw line. Normally this wouldn’t do anything for me, but the brightly coloured ink and the way he’s looking at me right now—like he wants to rip my clothes off—is making my breathing rushed and heavy. I can’t tell how old he is, he looks young, but his tattoos make him seem older so my guess would be early twenties, maybe? As his tall frame takes a step closer all my atoms buzz and vibrate which, in turn, makes my entire body shake slightly just from his close proximity. I’ve never felt anything like this before, my body is definitely telling me something right now. I’m just not sure what it is.
“And you are?” Annie asks knocking me out of my dazed state and back to our reality. I can’t seem to pick up my jaw from the ground, which is kind of embarrassing. This man is breathtakingly gorgeous and I can’t gain my composure.
“Danger,” he states and he moves his hand out gracefully toward me to shake as his eyes stay focused on mine.
I smile and bite my bottom lip finding some inner strength to actually speak, “What makes you dangerous?” I ask sounding as breathless as I am. When he takes my hand in his, a wave races through me as the warmth of his hand ignites against mine. Which sends a rush of heat straight from my hand right through my core and straight between my legs. I clench my thighs together and swallow hard.
