  “Have it your way. Are you going to let that pie cool before we leave?”

  “Oh, I’m not taking this to the wedding. I’ve already got my covered dish packed up. This pie is for you to take home with you. If you eat it in one sitting, I can’t answer for your digestion.”

  “Did that password work on Patrick Allen Childers’ cell phone?”

  “L-O-V-E. Perfectly. Compulsive annotator that he was, Patrick entered the appointment he made with Janie Calender as well as an idea for a love triangle.”

  “I’ll bet there was a lady lawyer and a cowboy involved.”

  “And a shopaholic wife. He made a note to set it in Maui.”
