I finished Seeking to Devour and planned to pick it up and polish it off for publication. Medical school started, and the book fell to the wayside as I began working on other, newer projects. Although I always intended to get back to Seeking to Devour, it never happened.
Finally, after medical school, I committed to dusting off some of my old manuscripts rather than writing new books. It was a daunting project. I had grown considerably as a writer in the years since Seeking to Devour was published in terms of storytelling and writing skill. It took several rounds of revisions to get the story to where it needed to be. I trimmed over one hundred and fifty pages of material and cut entire subplots and characters out of the story before I felt it was ready for publication. I had changed greatly in those intervening years, and I found my characters changing too, straying from their original depictions. I hope you enjoyed the final product.
As always, I’d like to thank everyone who helped make this book a reality. My mother, Pamela Romines, had her hands full with this one. My father, Robert Romines, deserves recognition for his support of my writing. A big thanks goes out to my cousins, Jacob and Gabrielle Romines, who read this book way back when I first wrote it and kept encouraging me to publish it over the years. I’d also like to thank my copyeditor, C.B. Moore, and my proofreader, Margaret Dean. And as always, thanks to you, the reader!
