Mesmer: enchanted magic act or magic power
Muirnin: beloved, darling
Nix: Scandinavian folklore. Known by many names and inhabiting lakes, rivers and streams. Considered to be benevolent unless crossed whilst playing their music, in which case they will be utterly terrifying.
Shatranj: chess-like game from the Far East, pre-dating chess
Siofra: Irish folklore. Small sprites who can be benevolent to mortals, helping them in dire times.
Travellers: The Gypsies of Eirie. Skilled at stitching, weaving and knitting. Have refined skills of fortune-telling and augury. Closest of all mortals to the Færan.
Veela: Balkan folklore. Can be benevolent or malicious to mortals
Welkin wind: a breeze from an Other source. So named in Trevallyn, Veniche and the Pymm Archipelago. Inspires trepidation.
Waterwyrms: Sinister waterwights that can drag people to their deaths.
Wight: enchanted person
Ymp Trees: rows of trees that have been grafted to form an unbroken line. Believed to be one of the Gates to Færan.
