Caren shot off her stool and dived around the kitchen counter. Panic rose inside her as she picked up the first thing that she could find, a spatula, and held it out in front of her like a sword. As if that was going to stop the man mountain coming her way.
“Whatcha gonna do, swot him like a fly?” Teri chuckled, knowing just what was coming next.
“I need to scent you.”Mike announced, like that was an everyday thing for her.
“Back the hell off…”Caren snapped at him. Taking a long step back from him as he gained ground. With one hand he grabbed the hand that was holding the spatula, with his other he wrapped an arm around her back and yanked her towards him. In a heartbeat he was nuzzled against her neck, taking in her scent and growling possessively.
‘Mine.’
“Mine.”Mike announced against her neck. Caren rolled her eyes back in her head and closed her eyes as she groaned in disbelief.
“That’s just so not what I wanted to hear.”She whined.
“Bloody music to my ears.”Teri chuckled as she turned to look at Cyrus, who was grinning back at her.
“Isn’t that what witches call Karma?”He offered and Caren groaned again.
“Don’t vampires have a slight allergy to a sharp pointed wooden stake in their heart?”Caren ground out between clenched teeth as she palmed the Lycans chest and pushed back away from him.
“Down boy, no drooling. We’ll get to the petting stage, but not tonight. First I need a lobotomy.” Caren felt him let her go and she took the opportunity to step around him and move back around the counter, eyeing the big guy from head to toe.
Mike frowned at her across the counter top. But it was Cyrus’s chuckle that drew his attention away from her.
“Don’t worry; she’s not as big of a shrew as she appears at first encounter.”He informed the man and watched as the Beta raised just one dark brow as he returned his attention back to his mate.
“Yes I am, you should run now and save yourself a lifetime of pure misery.”Caren’s sarcasm only served to make the Beta grin back at her in a self assured way.
“I’m sure we’ll get on just fine.” He gave a suggestive rise of his eyebrows and there was a glint in his eye that she couldn’t ignore.
“Oh good. Remind me to stock up on sleeping pills.”She drawled as she glared over at Teri who seemed to find this all very amusing. “Karma’s a bitch.”Caren bit out, snagging a treat from the half eaten plate of food she had been enjoying before the Beta had burst in, she brought it to her lips and found she had suddenly lost appetite. She stared at it for a long moment and then tossed it back onto her plate.
“Takes one to know one.”Teri teased as she smirked over at Cyrus. Fate had brought the friends back together and for that she was grateful. But what she was most grateful for was the fact that Fate had seen fit to bless all three with mates. Even if Caren wasn’t happy about it now, give it a good few hours and she would be.
The End.
