The Breadwinner Trilogy (Book 3): All Good Things Page 16

by Stevie Kopas

Clyde turned and waved her over. “How you feelin’?” he asked her with a sad smile.

She shrugged. Noticing the smoke on the horizon, she wondered if the dealership still burned.

The two stood in silence, watching the sun rise, appreciating the new day. Neither spoke of the previous day or the fate of their companions.

Their journey had come to an end, and a new one awaited them.

“Where to?” Clyde finally asked, dropping his cigarette to the deck.

Veronica continued to look at the sky, she repeated his question in her head. There was only one path left to take.

  The way to life.

  Epilogue

Michelle woke with a groan. Her head pounded and she could taste her own blood in her mouth. She opened her eyes and the world swayed, she was upside down. Everything hurt. If it wasn’t for the seat belt, she would have surely died in the crash. She tried moving her head but it hurt too much. Everything hurt too much.

Except for her legs. She couldn’t feel her legs.

And that’s when she heard the sound.

  The slurping, the chewing.

Michelle lowered her eyes and screamed.

She couldn’t feel her legs because they were gone.

Catherine and Andrew feasted greedily on her limbs. They were so consumed by their hunger they hadn’t even noticed she was awake.

Michelle screamed until she couldn’t scream anymore.

  A word from the author

There are no words to express my feelings in bringing this series to an end. The Breadwinner Trilogy was my first set of published fiction and it has been an amazing journey from start to finish. The end of the world is not glamorous indeed, and I hope you have enjoyed the ride.

None of this would have been possible without help from my friends, my family, my fellow authors, my editor, and countless numbers of others. Thank you all so much, and there are so many of you to name, so I sincerely hope you all know how grateful I am.

I am especially grateful for my readers, you’re the reason I do what I do. I truly hope you have enjoyed the final book in The Breadwinner Trilogy, All Good Things. I ask that you do me one final favor and please leave a review wherever you have purchased this book from, whether good or bad, it’s the best compliment you can give.

I look forward to diving head first into new worlds and giving my readers some new adventures to lose themselves in. And hey, who knows… maybe we haven’t seen the last of Veronica and Clyde.

  Again, thank you.
