A Second Chance at Forever (Chance #2) Page 21

by K. B. Andrews

He carried me to the door kissing me fiercely. He pressed my back to the front door, while he stuck the key in the lock and got us inside.

He kicked the door closed and carried me over to the steps, where he laid me down.

He stood and looked down on me as he pulled off his shirt. Our eyes locked together and I could see all the passion and love burning beneath them before he finally returned his lips to mine.

His hands were everywhere all at once. As his lips tasted me, his hands roamed my body, pushing my shirt up to free my chest. He pulled the cups of my bra down, breaking the kiss suddenly before his hot mouth moved to my hard nipple.

I scratched my nails down his back, moaning.

He pulled away and I heard the clanking of his belt.

He unbuttoned my jeans and pulled them off in one swift motion. Before I could process what he was doing, he was already sliding into me.

I dug my nails into his lower back trying to push every last inch of him inside of me. He held onto my hips as he thrust in and out of me, moaning my name like it was the air he needed to breath. With quick, hard movements, we came together in an earth-shattering high causing my toes to go numb.

He filled with me three thrusts, grasping my ass as he finished inside me. Just as quick as it began, it was over.

It wasn’t about taking our time with each other, it was to feel something other than the sorrow and guilt that we both felt.

Mason pulled out of me and picked me up, cradling me to his chest. He carried me to the bedroom and laid me softly on the bed.

“I hope you didn’t think I was done with you.” He crawled up my body giving me that sexy grin I never could resist.

His mouth touched mine again, but with much more patience and love.

That was us, it was only about us.

There are times when you just have to give your body what it needs. Sometimes it’s soft kisses and touches with the one you love. Other times it’s hard and fast to block the pain you’re both feeling.

What we did, we could never forgive ourselves for, but being in it together was what would get us through.

We woke the next morning with the sun streaming in through the curtains causing the dust particles to shine like glitter floating through the air. I rolled over to find Mason lying in bed awake.

“Hey. Did you sleep?” I asked, wrapping myself around him.

“A little.” He pressed a soft kiss to the palm of my hand.

“We will get through this. Together.” I locked my eyes with his before moving in for a kiss. “How about that car shopping today?” I asked, trying to change the subject.

  “It’s a date.”

We emerged from the steamy bathroom an hour later. Mason followed me out to dress for the day.

I stood in the bedroom pulling on clothes with his eyes on me the whole time.

“Are you serious? We just had sex in the shower,” I motioned to the massive erection he was sporting under his damp towel.

He grinned. “I can’t help it when I’m around you.”

I let out a small laugh. “You’re going to have to get used to it because I’m never leaving again and we won’t get anything done if we spend all day in bed.” I pulled up my jeans, leaving nothing for him to see.

“What if we spend it on the couch, or kitchen table, or the stairs again, that was fun.” He gave me a wink and his sexy grin.

“Shut up and get dressed. We have a date, remember?” I slid my flip-flops on and trained my eyes on his flexing muscles as he dressed.

I headed for the door. “Want some coffee?”

“Yes, thank you.” He pulled his black t-shirt over his head before sitting down to pull on his boots.

After Mason and I had our coffee, we made our way toward the dealership that was a few towns over. It was strange being able to do things just the two of us, but it was definitely something we needed.

Since we had gotten back together we hadn’t had much alone time.

We pulled into the parking lot and began to look over the vehicles. Mason being a Chevy guy found a brand new one that came with all the bells and whistles. We took it for a ride and that was all Mason needed. He picked the first truck he saw. I was a little more difficult. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to go with another small car or if I wanted something a little safer.

“You know, if you get a SUV you will be able to fit a car seat in it.”

“Who’s talking about car seats?” I asked with a shocked face. I would love to have Mason’s babies, but I thought we needed a little alone time for a while, have a honeymoon phase.

“Just saying, it would keep us from having to buy another one in a few years.” Mason shrugged.

I couldn’t do anything but smile knowing Mason was already planning our future together.

“Okay, let’s look at the Jeeps. I’ve always liked those.” I took his hand in mine and lead him over to the section I had already been considering.

We went for a test drive and soon ended up in the office signing the papers for our new cars.

Mason signed the papers for the Chevy truck while I signed the papers for the new Jeep Grand Cherokee. It was red with tinted windows, heated seats, and a navigation system. I was in love with the leather seats and sunroof, not to mention it had everything needed to equip a car seat.

“What do you say to heading over to the bar to celebrate?” Mason asked.

  “Celebrate what?”

“We just made our first big purchases as a couple.”

The smile that seemed to be plastered to my face when I was with Mason, returned.

“Okay. Race ya there,” I jumped into my new Jeep.

I beat Mason by a second, but I didn’t want to whip him too badly. I didn’t want to hurt his Chevy pride when my Jeep kicked his ass.

“I win!” I cheered as climbed out of the car.

“I let you.” He came around the truck and gave me a kiss.

We walked hand and hand into the crowded bar.

“What’s going on here tonight?” I asked still buzzing from my win.

“Karaoke night.” Mason shot me a grin that made his eyes light up.

“Since when do you like karaoke?” I questioned, sitting down at our table.

“I’ve always liked karaoke.” He wouldn’t make eye contact.

“No, you haven’t. If I remember right, you used to compare it to dying cats.”

“Shut up, I thought you would enjoy it. Plus, Alissa, Dane, Trent, and Sarah are coming.”

I shut up, but it wasn’t because he told me to. It was because he reached over and grabbed a handful of fries from someone’s plate and shoved them into my mouth. The fries were hot, salty, and tasted delicious.

  “I want fries now.”

“Really?” he laughed and gave me an amused look.

“Yes, really. Don’t shove food into my mouth unless I can have more.”

“Fine.” Mason got up to find Wendy.

Mason came back a few minutes later holding two beers.

“Truce?” he asked handing over the beer.

“Truce,” I agreed, taking a long drink to wash down the salt of the fries.

Mason held my hand on top of the table. We didn’t talk, we didn’t need to. We both knew everything the other was thinking.

As soon as Wendy sat down our food, everyone came in and sat down at our table.

“You really do know the way to my heart.” I smiled looking over my cheeseburger and fries.

“Dane, I’m hungry.” Alissa eyed my food.

“Did you guys know how much she eats? We’ve had to go to the grocery store twice since yesterday.” Dane looked surprised.

I let out a small laugh. “Oh, I know.”

The six of us sat back, drinking our beer and eating great food. My attention was drawn away when the announcer’s voice filled the bar , “Mason, get your ass up here, boy.”

I almost spit out my beer. “You’re singing?”

“Yeah, figured I would start out our night.” He stood and made his way toward the stage.

“Come on, let’s get a closer look.” Sarah jumped from her seat.

We all made our way to the stage and waited as the DJ put in Mason’s song.

The music started up to ‘Amazed’ by Lone Star. It was the first song Mason and I ever danced to all those years ago.

Mason cleared his throat. “This is for you,” he pointed to me. He started singing the beginning of the song. A song that was so meaningful to us, a song that I was surprised he even remembered. I hadn’t heard the song in a long time, but I avoided it most of the time because of the memories it brought up.

Mason hit every note perfectly. He never once looked at the screen, his eyes were locked on mine the whole time, singing only to me.

I felt a tear slide down my cheek just as the song wrapped up and everyone cheered. Only, Mason didn’t hand over the mic. Instead, he held onto it, waiting for the crowd to die down. Once the place was finally quiet, he moved the mic back to his mouth.

“Lennox, you are the girl that came blowing into my life when I was nineteen, offering me a chance at forever. I was a dumbass kid back then and I didn’t know that what I had right in front of me was so special, that it would leave me wanting you for the next five years. Now you’ve come back to me and there is no way I’m letting you slip through my fingers again.”

Mason dropped to his knee on the stage under the glaring light and everyone’s gazing eyes.

“Lennox Madison, I have loved you since the moment I laid eyes on you. You are everything to me and always will be. I promise to always love you, to keep you safe, and run to the grocery store every time your annoying friend wants Cheetos.”

“I’ll hold you to that!” Alissa yelled back.

  “Lennox, will you marry me?”

The crowd was silent, my heart slammed against my chest while every last hair on my body stood on end.

“Yes,” I whispered and nodded my head.

The place erupted with cheers as Mason jumped from the stage, tossing the mic to the DJ and made his slow walk to me. He placed the diamond ring on my finger before moving his lips to mine for a long, slow kiss.

The night went by in a blur. Everyone wanted autographs and pictures like always, but suddenly they started stopping by our table to congratulate us. A smile appeared on my face every time I heard the words and by looking at the most beautiful diamond ring on my finger.

The night was finally winding down, as our group began to move to the parking lot to head out for the night. Everyone was gathered around mine and Mason’s new rides when my phone rang. In all the chaos I grabbed it and put it to my ear.

“I hear congratulations are in order.” Chris’ voice went straight through me, causing a shiver to run up my spine.

Mason instantly knew something was wrong and grabbed the phone from me.

“Chris?” he asked with anger in his voice. “You listen to me you sorry son of a bitch, if you don’t leave us alone, I will come for you. No more waiting, I want this shit done and over. You hear me?” he screamed into the phone.

I don’t know what Chris said, but it only angered Mason more. He took the phone and busted it against the concrete.

Mason ushered me into his truck and tossed my keys to Trent. “Take her car to your house. We will pick it up tomorrow,” he told Trent as he came around the truck and climbed in beside me.

The truck roared to life, Mason threw it in gear and tore from the parking lot.

I wasn’t letting Chris ruin my night. I finally had everything I wanted and I wasn’t letting it go.

Sure, we still had problems we had to work out, what soon to be married couple didn’t? After the past few weeks that we had, I knew we could handle anything. Chis wouldn’t stop me from marrying Mason. It was our lives, we deserved to be happy after the hell we’d been through. I knew everything would work out in time, in the meantime, I was just going to enjoy planning a wedding with the man I had always belonged to.

Lennox and Mason’s story will continue in “Our Last Chance at Forever.”
