“No it isn’t,” Misha said emphatically.
“Stop doing this to yourself. You were trying to protect Jay. Let this go and go see your brother. Figure out a way to accept what has happened. You will, I know.” Namita said. “And yes, if you are in Mumbai, look me up. Unless they send me to some remote jungle for defying orders,” she added sheepishly.
“They won’t. Raunak and Nagral will stand by you, I am sure,” Vedant assured her. “And thanks Namita. Thanks for everything. But mostly thanks for being a friend. I am sorry though I accused you of framing me.”
Namita gave him a hug, “Hey, there is no need to thank me or apologise. I am glad I made a friend like you.”
She hugged and kissed Misha on the cheek, “Take care you two and call me.” She waved goodbye to them and walked to where Raunak and Nagral stood, still discussing something.
“I’ll miss her,” Vedant said.
“Hmmm…me too.” Misha sighed.
“Misha,” Vedant asked hesitantly, “Are we….are we okay?”
“Yes Ved, we are fine.” Misha told him emphatically.
“Can we still be friends after everything? You are literally the only person I have left and I really don’t want to lose you.”
Misha looked up at him and said sincerely, “Ved, none of this is your fault. I don’t blame you. We have known each other all our lives and we have been through so much, lost so much. I don’t want to lose your friendship as well. Your friendship still means a lot to me and you are still by best friend.”
“Thank you Misha. I am really sorry for all the pain I put you through, intentionally or unintentionally. You have a huge heart to be able to forgive me for all that.” She could see the tears in his eyes as he hugged her. She reached up and kissed his cheek. “Friends always,” she promised.
They turned in time to see Raunak walk back towards them. Vedant put out his hand and shook his. “I wanted to thank you for all that you did for me, Raunak.”
Raunak gave him mock punch and said, “Between friends there is no need for thanks. And I am still your friend, Ved. I hope you see me as a friend too. I would do anything for you.”
They hugged then and Vedant said, “Of course. I could use with a lot more friends.” He smiled.
“Give Tarun a chance, Ved. Everybody deserves it. More so family and he needs’ you now, more than ever. Give it a thought,” Misha urged as he turned to go.
“Will he be okay?” Raunak asked as Vedant roared away on his bike. Misha put her hands in his, “Yes he will. And if he isn’t, we will make sure he is okay. Shall we go home, now?”
He looked down at her, unsmilingly and asked, “So have you forgiven me?”
Misha smiled, “Yes but if you put me through that again I will be the one to shoot you.” She threatened.
“And you still want to marry me, don’t you?”
“Of course, I want to marry you. You are not getting rid of me so easily.” She grinned. “I love you and I am as sure of this as I have been of anything else in my life.”
“I love you too.” Raunak said as she reached up to kiss him.
