“Banged.” He laughed at her choice of words. “I haven’t banged anyone here. And I don’t care about them. I’ll go get rid of them.”

When he pulled away to make good on his words, she stopped him. “Jack, no. You can’t be rude to your guests for—”

“They aren’t my guests,” he interrupted. “I mean, they are, but I only know a few of them.”

Her expression tightened, riddled in confusion. “Then why are they always here every other Friday?”

“Because it’s just a…thing. A façade.” He shrugged.

  “Façade?”

“Yeah. I’m not that guy.” He tossed his thumb over his shoulder toward the party outside. “That’s just who everyone thinks I am, and I let them think that.”

Jules jerked her head back in surprise. “Why? Why would you do that?”

Truth be told, there wasn’t a good reason why; it’s just what he did. “Because it worked. It kept things…balanced and easy.”

Still not convinced a self-defaming lie made sense, she shot back, trying to understand. “Come again? How is that easy and balanced? People thinking you’re a total douche works?”

“Jules, I haven’t been with anyone since Ramsey was conceived, though I didn’t know I’d even done that,” he confessed, surprisingly unembarrassed. It was actually a bit freeing to admit. “I was engaged, caught my fiancé in bed with the maid of honor’s fiancé, and—”

“It broke your heart.” It was all starting to make sense.

“Yeah.” He dropped his head. “That night, I got loaded at the Ram shack, left with the waitress, then woke up the next morning alone, unsure of who I just slept with. It was reckless, and not me.”

“So, you let the rumors roll. Nobody questions why you’re alone if they think you have a new woman in your bed each night. Women aren’t looking for anything because you’re not a commitment guy. You’re protecting yourself — your heart.” Odd as it seemed, she understood protecting your heart.

“Can you make that sound any less manly? I mean, why not really go for it and call me a pussy or something.” He snickered, rolling his head back with his hands on his hips. “It isn’t perfect, but it worked. Then Ramsey showed up and you… I don’t like the façade anymore.”

  “You’re not a pussy, Jack. It’s actually sweet…in a weird way.”

“Sweet, now there’s a manly word.”

“Trust me, you’re all man, Jack Decker.” Jules pulled him into another sexy lip lock. This time, with a new sense of purpose and desire.

“Hold on. Don’t move.” He began to leave, but hesitated. He turned to her, and said, “Second thought, go ahead and move. Be naked when I get back.”

With hands splayed across her hips and a sassy curve in her stance, her voice dropped to low and sultry. “And if I’m not?”

Jack sucked in his bottom lip and bit it. Shaking his head with heavy lidded eyes, he walked back to her. “If you’re not…I guess you’ll find out.”

With a smack to her ass, he left the room.

  CHAPTER 10

Jules listened as the music stopped, the crowd noise dulled, and the sound of cars leaving began to replace the voices. He was kicking everyone out. A few disgruntled guests left with squealing tires, which made Jules laugh.

The lights down the hallway went low, leaving the bedroom a bit darker as she stood nervous with anticipation. When she heard rummaging around in the distance, she panicked. Jules locked herself in Jack’s bathroom and stood leaning against the counter, staring at herself, wondering if she was ready for this.

Everything was different now. He wasn’t just her cocky neighbor turned hot dad neighbor, he was a DILF. A dad I’d like to…the idea had her giggling while covering her face in embarrassment. He was also a sweet guy with feelings and a wounded heart who she wanted to fuck until the sun came up.

She messed with her hair, twisting it up, as if it would be sexier. Seriously, you came in here to do your hair? Get it together, Juliet. She ran cool water, splashing it on her face, then leaned in for a pep talk.

You’ve got this. He wants you. You want him. It’s all consensual screwing that’s going to numb your mind and blow your — wait, blow my what? Oh my God, this isn’t happening. You are not getting stage fright. He’s just your neighbor, who happens to like you…and is really hot…and supposedly has an amazing pecker. Ohhh. Throwing her hands up, she paced the tile floor. She shook out her arms and tossed her head from side to side, trying to loosen up like she was about to be put in as the star player of the big game.

She faced herself in the mirror again, feet together, hand on a halfcocked hip, and a sultry stare. When she licked her lips, she rolled her eyes. Overthinking it, Jules. You look like an expensive hooker. Or a cheap one, depending on the corner. Oh my God, why am I even going there?

I’m not a hooker. I’m…hot. Smokin’. And I’m about to blow his load…err, mind. I can’t even talk sexy. She took to the counter again, leaning in farther for a final ass chewing. Get your ass out there and ride your neighbor so hard, you can’t walk tomorrow. My neighbor? Shit!

Ride that fine ass man until the cows come home. Cows. Jesus, get out there and fuck his brains out like the dirty little slut you are before the baby wakes up! Baby.

I really suck at this. She tossed her hands in the air again and turned to pace again. She needed to get her head on straight and quit overthinking it. Just be herself.

Back at the bathroom counter, she stared herself down. Just…go out there and see what happens. Don’t blow it. Oooh, or maybe I should blow it. I bet that’s his thing.

She finally opened the door like she was going to battle before she could talk herself out of anything and stopped in her tracks. Candles lit the space — several candles, scattered around the room.

“I said take your clothes off.” Jack was seated at end of the bed, leaning forward, elbows propped on his knees.

Mesmerized by the dancing glow across the walls, Jules looked around in awe. “How did you get this done so fast? How long was I in there?”

“Long enough,” he said, taking to his feet.

“Wow, this is…” she shook her head, the proper word to describe the scene eluding her, “romantic?”

Jack shrugged his shoulders and moved closer to her. “I wanted to see you.”

It seemed Jules hadn’t kicked the nerves just yet. She swung her hands and let out an awkward snort. “Oh, lights on kind of guy?”

Jack grabbed her hands and pulled them to his waist. “No, that’s kind of a cheap hooker thing.”

“Oh my God, you heard me? I was talking out loud?”

“No…” His finger traced her face, then tucked a lock of hair behind her ear before he looked down and gave her his famous, panty-melting smile. “Okay. Maybe a little.”

Looking away, she cursed herself under her breath, “Shit!”

“You’re not a slut, no cows, the baby sleeps through the night, you are smokin’ hot, and you can ride me as long as you want to.” He grinned. “Now, are you taking off that red barely-there bikini or am I ripping it off?”

  “Oh, God…”

“You can just call me Jack. God’s a little formal,” he teased.

“Shut up and kiss me.” She leaned in.

“Not until you’re naked,” he insisted, stepping back with his arms crossed and a daring smirk resting on his chiseled features.

He wasn’t making this easy for her in the least. Nerves kicked in as she bent to take off her shoes first. She was just going to ease into this.

“Leave the shoes, Jules. In fact, you should always where those shoes. They…do things to me.”

“Oh.” How did he do that? How did his words make her head spin and core ache? If his words could seduce her in such a way it made her moan, what would his touch do? What would…other things do?

He cleared his throat with a raised brow, as if he knew what she was thinking. Or maybe it was to move her along because he was losing
patience. She was dragging this out, letting his words and mere presence wash over her.

Jesus, she was out of her league. Stripping with an audience wasn’t something she’d practiced. In fact, she was more of a do-it-in-the-dark kind of girl, which made the whole dirty little slut thing kind of funny.

Oh, what I’d give to be a slut right now, she thought, in the dark. This is all kinds of awkward. “I just want to get him inside me against that wall.”

  “Him?”

“Oh shit. That part was out loud, wasn’t it?”

Spinning her around to face away from him, he held her waist so she didn’t lose her balance as he positioned her inches from the wall. His body pressed firmly behind her, and she could feel just how turned on he was when he pinned his hard cock against her ass, inciting yet another moan.

Jack placed both of her arms up, planting her hands flat on the surface in front of her. “Brace yourself,” he said.

The promise he was making sent a heated bolt down her spine, and another breathy gasp filled the air. His hands slid down her arms, one stopping at her back to untie the thin strings keeping her top in place, and the other reaching around her front to pull the small garment away. The move was primal, and the intention erotic, leaving her rosy peaks hard and hungry and her heated mound craving the same attention.

He held her breasts firmly in his grip and dropped his mouth to her neck. Day old scruff from his chin left a tingling sensation that marked his trail. He massaged her, tweaked her two peaks, then rolled them between his thumb and first finger, driving her to the edge. Her own moans surprised her.

Wiggling her ass into him, she provoked and teased, inviting him to explore her body. She wanted more — needed more — and he read her body like a good sexy read, happy to oblige her request.

Leaving one hand to please her breasts, the other snaked down her abdomen, finding its way to the top of her bikini bottom. Her stomach quivered from his heated touch, so hot, the air in the room left a chill tracing where he’d been.

His hand finally slipped under the material and cupped her gently, causing her to let out the breath she didn’t know she’d been holding.

“You’re completely bare,” he said as he began to stroke her. His words, warm against her neck, caused her to hiss when he asked, “Is that for me?”

“Mmmm, yeah. I mean, I’d hoped…wanted…” Her thoughts were everywhere his hands were, and she couldn’t form a sentence to save her life.

“You’re already wet,” he whispered in her ear. “That for me too?”

She tossed her head back with pleasure. “God yes.”

“God yes is right.” He bit her neck gently, but with enough vigor to keep her on edge as his fingers slid over her most sensitive spot, dipping into her every so often, coaxing her high.

Placing his free hand on her hip, Jack turned her around, her back against the wall, and took her mouth, fast and furious. Giving her pleasure satisfied him, but he needed some of his own. He slid her bikini bottoms down her thighs to expose her.

He left them around her knees and stepped back to see all of her, to drink her in. “So fucking beautiful.”

When she turned her head ever so slightly, shy in such a vulnerable state, he undid his shorts and let them fall to the ground, nothing underneath but a raging hard-on he grasped with his hand.

He nodded toward the handful of pleasure he was about to give her. “This is all you. You did this to me, Jules.”

She bit her bottom lip, eyes roaming his body, a grin threatening as her sights landed on the handful of pleasure she couldn’t wait to have.

“Like that?” he asked, and she nodded. “This…it changes everything. You sure?”

Jules looked him in the eye as her hands moved across her bare skin and she cupped her own breasts. Massaging them, she said, “Jack? Shut up and get over here.”

And he did. With his hard length between her legs, he moved against her, teasing her while his mouth tasted her neck, then her collarbone — where he left a mark, maybe two — then to her aroused breasts. When her breathing quickened and pants turned to moans, he dropped to his knees to taste the one thing he’d been wanting for weeks, months — hell, since he met her.

He covered her with his mouth, stroking her tight, throbbing arousal with his tongue, then plunged inside. With every flick, suck, dip, and nip, she cried harder. As she began to peak, so did he, but he wasn’t ready — not until he was inside her.

Jules leaned forward, dangling over him as he brought her to an epic ending she’d only read about in books. His hands were strong, his mouth was magic, and she just came harder than she ever had before by Jack Decker’s mouth.

Holy fucking shit, she thought…or maybe cried. She couldn’t tell whether she had said it in her head or out loud, because the waves of ecstasy she was riding were hard and loud. Weak in her knees, she held his shoulders as he began to stand. If his mouth could do that, what was he going to do to her with a cock like that?

Anxious to find out, she slid her right leg up the length of his and wrapped it around him, giving him access to the one and only spot where she craved him at the moment. When she felt him at her entry, easing his way in, the sensation was so overwhelming, she instinctively tossed her head back — and hit it hard against the wall, causing her to lose her balance and her ankle gave way.

“Ouch, shit!” she cried as Jack caught her, his hands holding her steady so she didn’t fall. “Oh my God, Oh my God…my ankle.”

“Your ankle? I thought you just hit your head,” he asked, looking her over.

“Shit. I did.” She grabbed her head, remembering that hurt too. “But I rolled…my ankle. Shit, this hurts.”

“Okay,” In one slick move, he swept her off her feet and cradled her in his arms. “Let’s get you to the bed and take a look.”

“Careful. Holy crap!” she yelled as he sat her on the bed. “That reeeally hurts.”

  “Just moving you?”

“Yeah. Kinda,” she answered. “I guess this is a bad time to tell you I’ve never done that in hooker heels before. Bad move.”

He snickered. “Right, you probably should have practiced.”

“Yeah, I should have…” she said, then realized what he’d said and smacked his arm and laughed. “Not funny, Jack.”

  “Then why are you giggling?”

“Because it’s either giggle or cry, and I’m not the type to cry,” she insisted.

“Do you want to go to the emergency room?”

She bolted up from the pillow she was propped on. “Hell no. I work there. I’ll never live it down. Hey, I just busted my ankle fucking the hot guy next door.”

“I think you’ve sworn more in the last two minutes than the entire time we’ve known each other,” he pointed out.

“Yeah…well, there’s a place and a time for it — this is the time.” Jules lay back against the pile of pillows and grabbed her face as she hissed in pain. “They serve a purpose, Jack.”

In a low, husky, matter-of-fact voice, he teased, “Lucky for you, ma’am, I’m a firefighter. I’m trained to assess emergencies such as this. It appears to be…an ankle injury.”

She laughed at his antics and turned on a southern twang that lacked charm. “Well, my, my, what a lucky girl. My own personal hero. How ever will I pay you?”

Jack waggled his eyebrows while running his hand up and down the injured ankle. “I can think of a few things, little lady.” He followed with a wink and a grin — there was the charm he was famous for.

“Okay, okay, I draw the line at little lady. It sounds…creepy.”

“Okay then, Nurse Juliet, I don’t feel anything broken. I think we have a sprain on our hands. I’ll grab Tylenol and ice.”

As he stood from the bed, she sat up, and said, “And I’ll grab clothes.”

“Don’t touch the clothes. You’ll stay just like that,” he warned with a threatening smirk. “You know, in case I need to assess your body for anything e
lse.”

“Got it,” she laughed, falling back into the pillows again.

In only a handful of minutes, Jack returned to the bedroom, just as he left — naked — but with a few supplies. It struck Jules just how comfortable he was in his own skin. She admired that. She also admired how caring and compassionate he was.

He really wasn’t the guy the town liked to talk about. How anyone could break his heart was beyond her, especially when he was quickly winning hers.

“Take these,” he instructed, handing her a couple small white pills and a bottle of water.

“I never take drugs from a stranger,” she teased. “For all I know, you’re trying to knock me out so you can take advantage of me.”

Jack looked to the wall they’d just left, then back to her. “Given what happened over there, I’m pretty sure you’ll ask me to take advantage of you. Besides, you almost knocked yourself out. Not helping your case at all, Jules.”

“True!” Her expression was serious, but playful. She enjoyed their banter.

He laughed at her. “It’s just Tylenol, but feel free to throw them out.” He went to work on her ankle, wrapping it with an ace bandage. “I don’t see any swelling yet.”

  “Good sign,” she added.

“But let’s ice it and elevate it anyway. Ya know, for good measure.” He propped her ankle on a pillow and gently laid an ice pack from his first aid kit across it.

Jules went ahead and popped the pills, not interested in feeling the pain anymore, and washed them down, taking an extra-long pull to quench the thirst he’d generated with all her panting and moaning. A thirst the wall in his bedroom would always encourage — a thirst that couldn’t be quenched with water.

With his first aid kit set aside, he lay on his side next to her and propped up on his elbow with his hand splayed across her belly.
