ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
I should like to thank my agent, Sara Keane, of the Keane Kataria Literary Agency, for having faith in me and helping enormously to get this novel published. She deserves a medal!
I should also like to express my eternal gratitude to Sophie Robinson, editor at Allison & Busby, for her astute and meticulous editing of Striking Murder. She helped me avoid embarrassing errors. Any mistakes are therefore my own fault.
I wish especially to express my respect and admiration to the numerous mining communities, who over the years have worked so hard and made so many sacrifices to bring coal to the surface. This country owes them a huge debt.
Finally, I’d like to thank the people of Wigan, my home town, both past and present. The friendliness and proud history of the place is something to treasure.
We hope you enjoyed this book.
