“The kirk?” she asked, confused at his new whirlwind of suggestions. “You mean the church? What for?”
He looked scandalized, then leaned in for a soul stirring kiss. “To get married, o’course. Ye do want to get married? Dinna worry, I shall get ye a ring and propose however ye like, but if ye could just soothe my nerves on this and say yes right now, I’d appreciate it.”
Mia was too stunned to answer right away. She’d gone through every possible emotion in the last two days, good and bad and in between. As she studied his handsome face and gazed into those soulful green eyes, she knew exactly how she felt at that moment. The roller coaster of fear and exhilaration, happiness and hopelessness, coalesced into certainty.
“Yes,” she told him.
Filled with peace and love, she pulled the blanket that was still draped over his shoulders around them both and kissed him once more. One out of thousands to come during their lifetime together.
