by Claire Spoors

She tried to ignore her jealousy and focus on Gary, she needed to get into the room, she knew Harry was in there. That was why she couldn’t get in. He must have sensed her coming, he was getting stronger.

She focussed all her strength and was able to enter the room. She was stunned by Gary and the girl, she stood and watched. He was lying on the bed with the girl riding him, she was in control.

That was wrong, Gary was the dom. She looked around the room for signs of Harry but couldn’t see anything, she went closer to Gary and the girl, Gary didn’t notice her.

Something wasn’t right, Gary never let clients take control. Alex was next to the bed and still Gary didn’t look at her as the girl rode him without looking like she would ever stop. Gary’s eyes were glazed.

Alex felt the temperature drop and saw Gary’s breath condense in the cold air. She looked around for anything to show where Harry was. She turned back, the girl had stopped but was still sitting on Gary.

Gary looked like he was paralysed with fear.

The girl began to laugh, “What’s wrong Gary, don’t you like it when a girl is in charge?”

Alex looked more closely at the girl, and she noticed something wasn’t right. There wasn’t any breath coming from her mouth.

“Come Gary, where’s your protection now? You know I could kill you right now and you wouldn’t be able to do a thing about it,” said the girl.

Alex reached out and grabbed the girl and pulled her off Gary with such strength the girl flew backwards, her head hit the door and she was knocked out cold.

“Alex, help me please. I’m not sure what’s happening but I can’t move,” begged Gary.

Alex ignored Gary and stood watching the girl, something was happening, she noticed something rise from her body, it was Harry’s spirit. He had taken control of the girl’s body. Why hadn’t she realized earlier?

  “What’s happening?” shouted Gary.

“It’s Harry,” answered Alex, she watched as his image became easier for her to see.

“I can’t see anything, please Alex, help me move,” said Gary.

Alex turned to Gary, she leant down to help him up, but he was thrown across the room. Alex swung back round to face Harry.

Harry said, “Now, I know why I couldn’t get to him earlier on, you were blocking me, well as you can see I’m stronger now and nothing will stop me finishing what I started.” Harry ran towards Gary who was trying to crawl away. Alex jumped in front of him and blocked him.

“Leave him alone, it wasn’t anything to do with him, stop!” shouted Alex.

There was banging on the door and shouting, Harry looked towards the door. It was Briggs and the security team, they must have seen the girl and Gary flying across the room, without understanding what was really happening.

Alex took the opportunity to push Harry away and get hold of Gary. She picked him up and spread her wings and flew across to the door. With all her strength she pulled open the door and threw Gary and the girl out into Briggs and the other men, before slamming the door shut.

Alex turned back to Harry, he also had wings, but his were as black as night, and his face showed pure evil. He ran at Alex.

“He has to die and you’re not going to stop me,” said Harry.

Alex held her arms out and raised herself off the floor a few inches, and the power of her love and anger flowed through her, pushing him back with great force. But he rebounded straight back and flew quickly towards her, grabbing her neck with his powerful arms. They were battling each other with tremendous force.

Gary banged on the door, shouting for Alex let him, he could hear crashing and heavy thuds. Briggs looked at Gary, unsure of what was happening.

“Get me Marie on the mobile now,” shouted Gary, one of the security men passed Gary some trousers to put on, while the other one was trying to bring the girl round.

Briggs rang Marie, she answered on the first ring. He passed the phone to Gary.

“Marie, you need to get here now, it’s Harry he’s got Alex, I can’t get in. I don’t know what to do,” he screamed down the phone.

“It’s ok, I am on my way to Harry’s grave, don’t worry, it will be over soon,” answered Marie.

“His grave? Marie did you not hear what I said? He’s here, he’s going to kill Alex.” Gary was panicking, he couldn’t bear losing her again.

“Gary, listen to me. Alex is stronger than you think, she will hold up, I need to get to his grave, then it will end, trust me,” shouted Marie and hung up.

  Chapter Fifty One

Marie arrived at the cemetery and began looking for Harry’s grave. It didn’t take long, she could smell the freshly dug earth. She took the spade she’d brought with her, and dug furiously, lucky they hadn’t dug down very deep, who could be bothered for someone that no one would grieve for? She took out a crowbar and opened the coffin.

Alex was still fighting with Harry, he was getting stronger and stronger by the second and she didn’t know how long she could stop him from getting to Gary. The door of Gary’s room flew open, Harry had overcome Alex.

Gary was standing there in shock, with the others. Harry smiled scornfully at Alex and pushed her aside, and flew towards Gary. But Alex revived and grabbed Harry’s leg and held him fast.

“You. You will not hurt him!” she shouted and tore at his wings. One snapped off.

Harry screamed out in pain, he swung round. “You’re beginning to get on my nerves, no more playing. I will finish you once and for all.”

Meanwhile, at the cemetery, Marie began to chant over Harry’s body in its coffin, then she poured salty sea water over the corpse. She lit a match and held it and finished her spell while it burnt out. Then she threw the extinguished match into the coffin. A blaze of fire exploded from the coffin and Marie was knocked backwards.

At the club, Harry’s hands began to loosen from around Alex’s neck. Alex pushed him away and stood up ready for him. Harry looked at his remaining wing which started to crumble into dust. “No,” he shouted and ran again at Alex, but by the time he reached her he was nothing more than ashes.

  Chapter Fifty Two

Alex fell limply to the floor, Gary rushed in and ran towards Alex. He noticed her wings were broken and blood was running down her back.

He held her and looked into her eyes, the beauty in her eyes was something so amazing words could not describe it. The feeling he had for her was beyond what the term ‘love’ was usually used for. She’d saved his life, she was a true angel.

“It’s ok Gary, don’t worry, it’s over, he won’t hurt you anymore,” said Alex looking up at him. “I feel extraordinarily blessed to have earned your love and trust. Never again will I question your heart, for I know your heart is mine . . . and mine, is yours. The love of this slave for her master is unparalleled and can never falter. The collar you bestowed and placed around my neck that first night has set me free . . . free to serve you, free to honour you, free to cherish you, free to love only you. I will always be here for you,” she closed her eyes.

Gary pulled her close to his chest, “Don’t you leave me again, do you hear me?”

Ray and Melissa ran into Gary’s room and stopped dead in their tracks, they couldn’t believe what they were seeing. Gary looked up with tears in his eyes. Marie pushed past everyone, she ran towards Gary and Alex. She leant down and whispered to Alex, “Take him home, and rest.”

Gary looked at Marie. “What’s happening?”

“It’s ok she will be fine, trust me,” said Marie.

Alex held onto Gary and with a blink of an eye they disappeared.

Marie stood up and smiled, Ray and the others just stood there not believing what they had just seen and looking at Marie for answers.

Marie began to laugh and walked over to the battered drinks cabinet and found an unsmashed bottle of whisky. She unscrewed the top and took a big swig from it, and then put her hand over the neck of the bottle making it look like she was wiping the top clean.

She passed the bottle to Ray, who took a drink, and then everyone took a swig.

“Well that was an eventful night don’t you think?” said Marie, but before any of them could speak, Marie began to laugh. “What’s wrong with you all? You look like you just saw a ghost!”

  Chapter Fifty Three

Alex and Gary were now home. Alex was lying in bed feeling fragile. Gary had fetched a bowl of water and some cotton wool to bathe her wounds. He helped Alex to sit up so he could look at her back. He gently cleaned the wounds with the damp cotton wool. As he touched the skin the wounds disappeared. He looked at Alex.

“My wounds aren’t really like yours, I just needed to rest to regain my energy,” said Alex, although her voice still sounded exhausted.

“But your wing was nearly ripped clean off, it can’t just heal like that,” said Gary.

“No, that part won’t return, my wings have gone, they have been clipped from me,” said Alex.

Gary ran his hand down her back as though searching for signs of them.

There was a knock at the front door and Gary got up to answer it. Marie was there waiting.

“How is she?” asked Marie as she came in.

“She’s upstairs,” pointed Gary. Marie went up to Alex, who was now sitting up on the edge of the bed, Alex smiled as Marie entered.

“I have talked to the others about tonight, I added a little something to their drink to calm them down, but you’re now out of the closet, as they say, but I don’t think they will be saying anything,” said Marie.

“Well, you look better than I thought you would,” said Marie observing Alex.

“Thanks, but my wings have gone!” said Alex as she looked at Gary who was standing behind Marie.

Marie sat down by Alex, “That isn’t a problem, can’t you see what this means?” Marie said.

Alex glanced at Gary and then back at Marie.

  “No, what?” said Gary.

“She’s grounded, bound to this earth, cannot go on to the afterlife,” said Marie.

“I thought I was bound to Gary anyway, and couldn’t pass on?” said Alex.

“Yes, that’s what you said,” said Gary.

“Well, I looked a little deeper into it, after you first revealed your wings,” said Marie looking a bit ashamed.

“Marie, what is it?” asked Gary.

“She was your guardian angel Gary, she was kept here to protect you, which makes sense as Harry was still trapped on this earth, looking for revenge. Alex was here to defend you Gary.”

“You said it was your love spell!” said Alex.

“That helped. I bound you both forever, when you died that changed to a bind to protect him until he didn’t need protecting anymore,” said Marie.

“So, I could have gone on to the afterlife afterwards?” asked Alex.

“Yes, I’m sorry, I just didn’t know how to tell you both, Gary was getting his confidence back, you were both happy and I wasn’t going to ruin that,” said Marie.

  “But now?” asked Gary.

“Well that’s the thing, without wings, she is now grounded,” said Marie.

“So I will stay, no risk of leaving?” asked Alex.

  “None,” answered Marie, smiling.

Gary looked at Alex. “Alex, can’t you see? You’re a true bound angel, here with me forever.”
