“We should tie him up and rob his ass. I know he got a couple of stacks on him, probably more than that.” I heard somebody whisper.

“I ain’t got shit to do with that. His crazy ass shot at me once. I ain’t fuckin’ with him, no thanks. His ass probably can hear us now.” I knew that was Peaches’ black ass friend.

“Bitch, he can’t hear shit. But he did pull his gun on me the day I caught him and Peaches in bed.” I knew that was Lips because of her Spanish accent. “Kimmy, tap his pocket.”

“Bitch, n’all, you do it. Matter of fact, I’m about to get out. I ain’t seen shit.”

“You do it, Lips, and I promise yo ass gon’ be suckin’ on this steel.” Taking my gun from my waist, I sat it on my lap.

“Boy, put that up. I was just playing. I knew you weren’t sleep.”

I opened my eyes and I looked at her. Humming, I sat up in my seat. I rubbed the back of my neck as I looked around the room to see all Peaches’ friends. I shook my head, I wasn’t about to stay in the room with nann one of those bitches.

“Where yo nigga at?” I asked King’s girl.

“He ain’t my nigga, but he out there with yo momma.”

Nodding at her, I got up and went to the bathroom. Once I finished, I washed my hands then my face to wake myself up fully. I went back into the room, grabbed Blake’s book bag off of the floor and started putting his toy cars back in there before I went to the bed.

“Blake?” I called his name but his ass was knocked out. I decided not to wake him up because he’d probably have a fit if he knew I was moving him away from Peaches. So, I just picked him up instead.

“Oh, my damn. He’s so cute,” King’s girl said, getting in Blake’s face. “Who is this?” she asked.

“Blake,” I replied simply and she punched me on the arm. I looked at her crazy. “You better go sit yo tack headed ass down somewhere. Hit me again and I’mma knock yo ass out.”

She smacked her lips and rolled her eyes at me. “I ain’t worried about you.” Her hand rubbed his head but soon stopped as her eyes squinted at him then me. “Oh, fuck no. Oh wow.”

“Girl, get yo ass out that man’s face before he slap yo ass or some shit.” The black one told her and I agreed.

“That’s what the fuck I’m thinkin’,” I said but she didn’t move back.

“He’s yours? He looks just like you. He’s so cute. You’ll have to excuse me. I like kids,” she explained before moving away from me. Once she did, I walked out of the room then went to the waiting room where my moms and King sat.

“Why y’all out here looking crazy?” I asked them.

“We were in there until the girls showed up. Give me him.” My mom stood and took Blake from me. Before she pulled back, she took hold of the back of my neck bringing me down to her. “Boon, you find who did this to her then you come home. No witnesses, Boon.” She kissed my cheek then nodded toward the elevator. “Go take care of your business, baby. I got him.”

I nodded at what she said. I kissed her forehead then nodded at King to follow me.

“I need you to pick Le’Ron up, take his ass to the spot. He taking too long to get back with me…” Just as I said that my phone started vibrating. I pulled it out and opened the text message. “This him now. He wanna meet at Paradise. He’ll be in the back, shoot his ass if you have to. Just get his ass there, i’ight?”

“I got you. Moms fuck’d you up, huh?” King laughed. I didn’t think he heard.

I shrugged. “Yeah, she did, but momma knows best, right?” I got on the elevator.

“N’all, not all them bitches but when Momma B speaks, its best you listen.” He was right about that because I was gon’ kill Poke’s family, let him watch that shit and then leave his ass alive to grieve, but I guess that would be stupid.

“I’m about to head back to the station. I’ll get at you in about an hour. If you don’t hear from me, burn they asses, then come bail me out.” It was a joke.

“I’ight, don’t be stupid, B. I know you and how you fucks with a nigga’s head. Regardless of who can’t hear you, leave those hinting ass comments to yo’self.”

I reached my bike, I got on and laughed as I started it up.

  “B, I’m serious, yo.”

  I didn’t reply, I just pulled off.

I made it to the station and went straight into Ross’ office where Sam was at. As I sat down, I text King.

  “What’s up?” I asked Sam.

The tape pointing toward the cell is gone—” Sam answered before Ross cut him off.

“We don’t know how or why.” Ross claimed.

“Y’all really going beyond to protect yo officers, huh? You know just like we do ain’t no bitch did that shit. She was beat with something thick and hard.” I grabbed the police baton on the side of his desk, looking at it then showing Ross. “With some shit like this. Sam, you think the doc can match Peaches bruises to this stick? I think it’ll be a match. What you think?” I asked, tossing it to him.

“If you’re implying one of my officers did this, you’re wrong,” he said, taking the stick from Sam but I took it back.

“I’m not implying shit. I’m saying what I know. Whoever it is responsible is who you tryna hide with that corrupted ass tape.” I waved his stick in his face. “You don’t mind if we take this to see if it’s a match do you.”

Again he took the stick. “Where were you from between the hours of 12am to 2am?”

I laughed at that question. “At the hospital, I spent the night up there but you know that already. I mean you checked the cameras, right?” I replied as I sat on his desk, taking a latex glove from out of my pocket, I put it on. I grabbed the police stick then hand sanitizer. Squirting some on tissue I started cleaning it off.

Once I was done, I grabbed a cigarette from my pocket. Putting it to my lips, I lit it. “Do you have any other questions to ask? Unlike you. I’m trying to find out what happened to my girl, which you don’t seem to care about. But now that yo detective’s wife missing, that’s yo main priority now, right?” I asked.

“Do you know something about what happened to officer Poke’s family?”

“Fuck yo detective and his family. Fuck yo whole gotdamn department, nigga. Fuck you too! Now that you know how I feel about all you mothafuckas, I’m a suspect now, I got it. Now are you done asking questions, I do have yo job to do?” Inhaling the smoke, I blew it out in his face. I could tell he was pissed. The black mothafucka turned red and his nose flared. Letting out a chuckle, I dumped the ashes on his desk then hit the cigarette again.

“Get your client out of my office before I regret my actions.” I shook at that.

“Is that a threat Captain Ross?” I asked, blowing more smoke in his direction. This time before he could respond Sam grabbed me.

“Blaze, let’s go.” I was being stupid provoking those dumb ass cops. I knew that but I didn’t care. They fuck’d with me first. It was only fair I did the same to them.

“I’ll be seeing you, Ross. Sam get the corrupted tapes, all of them. From the time she got here, until she disappeared. I’m sho Ross don’t have a problem with that seeing as he don’t have anything to hide. You can make copies and send them back. Is that gon’ be a problem? I’m sho’ he can get a warrant and have it signed by a judge in about fifteen minutes or less,” I said, referring to that lawyer bitch that signed that bullshit ass warrant for Peaches’ raid.

“Blaze, I’ll get all of them just meet me in my office in an hour and we’ll go over them.” Sam pushed me toward the door.

Ross was pissed and was staring at me hard.

“I’ll be at the hospital. Call me when you leave from up here.” After I put out my cigarette and slid the butt into my pocket, I walked out the office. I knew Sam was going to say something about me being stupid but shit they couldn’t touch me, I didn’t do shit.

  To their knowledge anyway.

I bet next time they ass gon’
think twice before fuckin’ with mine. As I left out of the office, Poke was on my backside.

“You know this harassment right?” I said to Poke as I walked down the basement stairs with him hot on my trail.

“You think this shit is funny? The only reason you still breathing is because I know you got them. You think sending fingers and ears—” He didn’t finish his sentence or I just didn’t hear it as I went falling down the stairs.

Once I hit the bottom, Poke picked me up and slammed me into a wall before sending me down another flight of stairs.

“Get out!” He yelled at the few people down in the lower wing. As expected, the other cops left out as if they ain’t seen shit. Except for Pete, he stayed.

To see everyone else leave with no questions asked pissed me off. That’s probably what happened to Peaches.

They ass turned the other way.

Grabbing me by the front of my shirt, Poke pulled me up, punching me in the stomach then in my left jaw. Lifting me up again, his forearm pressed into my neck.

“Where are they? You better tell me where the fuck they are before I blow yo fuckin’ head off.”

My laughing only made him press harder into my throat.

When he realized I wasn’t trying to stop him, he looked at me like I was crazy. “You’re a fuckin’ psychopath. Just tell me where they are and I’ll leave you alone. I’ll forget this ever happened?”

I tapped his arm and he let up. He was stupid to let me catch my breath. When my breathing returned to normal, I smiled at him.

“You right. I’m fuckin’ psychotic. I told you not to fuck with her.” Grabbing the back of his neck, I slammed my head into his. Once he stumbled back, I grabbed the needle from my pocket. Poke was momentarily dazed and didn’t see it. When he got himself together, he tried to tackle me but I quickly moved out of the way.

I caught him by the back of his neck and I slammed his head into the wall then against my knee. Getting him into a headlock, I brought my mouth to his ear. “My favorite part was hearing yo bitch scream while I cut her ear off then her finger. Shit was so loud it got my dick hard.” Stabbing the needle into his neck, my arms tightened around his neck, putting him to sleep. The anesthetic wouldn’t take too long to kick in but once it did, his ass would be out for a long while.

When his body went limp, I put the cap on the needle and put it in my pocket. I sent King another quick text then put my phone away. I then picked Poke up.

“Hurry up, this way,” Pete rushed. Knowing the camera’s blind spots, he led me to the back door. Once I opened the door, an all-black van rolled up with the door already slid open. Poke was a big mothafucka but it wasn’t shit as I held him out. King quickly snatched his ass up, putting him in the van.

The van sped off as King slid the door close like nothing happened.

We slipped back inside and quickly made our way back upstairs. Pete and I went our separate ways. He went upstairs as I left out of the building. I hoped on my bike, started it up then left the station going back to the hospital.

Once I got Ross’ family, I could finished this shit.

  Chapter 26

  Blaze

“Little man, I ain’t gon’ tell you no mo to keep yo hands off my girl. I’mma cut them off then feed them to the fishes, you understand?” King threatened Blake but it didn’t faze him.

“Shut up talking to me, you getting on my nerves.” Blake snapped before turning around to look at King’s girl. “You wanna play with my cars?” he asked her.

“Yeah, sweetie, we can play with your cars. You are so cute.” Her ass sounded like Peaches when she first met Blake.

Blake’s little ass was sucking up all that attention too. I shook my head because that boy was a trip.

King got my attention by hitting me. “You gon’ let him talk to me like that?”

My brow rose, what the fuck he want me to do? “You ain’t see how your sister went off on my ass when I threatened to whoop his ass, when he started the shit?” I said. “So, n’all boss, I ain't gettin’ in that. When she wakes up, I’ll tell her.”

King laughed hard as hell. “You a bitch nigga, man. That’s i’ight, tho, uncle King gon’ whoop that ass.”

Blake looked at King like he was sizing him up—straight looked his ass up and down then turned back around.

“King, you grown. Leave him alone, he ain’t saying nothing to you. And, last I checked I’m not yo girl,” said Ebony.

Blake laughed. “Yeah, she not your girl, fool,” he taunted. Then, to me he said, “Blaze, give me my juice.”

“It’s, will you please give me my juice.” I corrected him.

“Humph!” Blake let out an irritated breath before getting up to get the juice himself.

I grabbed that lil’ nigga and snatched the juice out of his hand. “If you don’t ask nicely, you don’t get shit.” His cheeks puffed out and his lips pressed tightly together as he stared hard at me.

“Give me my stuff,” he demanded, reaching for it but I pushed him back.

Once I did that, his little ass jumped on me.

“Oh shit, little Blaze beating big Blaze ass. Record this shit.” One of Peaches’ friends screamed out in laughter.

Dropping the juice on the floor, I grabbed Blake and flipped his little ass over my knee. “You done lost yo gotdamn mind.” I took off my belt.

“No! Don’t hit me. I’m sorry.” His pleading wasn’t about to stop that ass whoopin’. “No! Stop! Help, Peaches! It’s gonna hurt, Peaches!” Blake screamed while wiggling around. “Peaches!” He yelled louder, hitting my leg.

I wrapped my belt around my hand and prepared to tear his little ass up. But as soon as I raised my arm in the air, I heard a loud cough at my back. I turned around and Peaches was blinking her eyes.

While my attention was focused on her, Blake managed to wiggle free and bolt off of my lap.

“Oh, I’m still getting in that ass. Get over there and sit yo little ass down,” I barked.

Snatching his juice off the floor, he went to the other side of the room and flopped down on the floor.

I decided to put his ass whooping on hold. In the meantime, I turned back to Peaches, who seemed to be waking up. “Aye, go see if you can find a doctor,” I told King’s girl.

For once Ebony followed my instructions without a smart reply

Turning away from her, King and I moved closer to Peaches. She blinked several times to clear her vision while letting her eyes roam around the room for a minute.

“Angel, go get her some water or something,” King ordered and she ran out the room to do as he said.

After a while, Peaches’ eyes widened and she seemed to realize where she was.

“I’m beating yo ass as soon as you get outda here.” I playfully threatened.

She looked at me, and then her eyes moved around the room again before coming back to me. “Do I know you?” She mumbled through clenched teeth before moaning in pain as she brought her left hand up to touch her jaw.

“You serious? You don’t know who I am?”

She slowly shook her head no before she looked to my side.

“Hey, Peaches.” Blake kicked off his shoes then climbed into my lap to get on the bed. “You look pretty.”

She tried to smile but only moaned.

“You slobbing,” Blake said, wiping her mouth with the sheet. After he did that, he leaned closer to her and tried to whisper. “Blaze cussed at me and tried to whoop me.”

Peaches’ eyes quickly snapped to mine, her eyes squinting slightly.

“Thought yo ass ain’t know me?” I busted her out.

  She purposely rolled her eyes.

“Why you clowning at a time like this? Who did this to you?” I asked.

She took a slow, deep breath. “Le’Ron,” she mumbled.

I knew that nigga was acting funny but him doing this? Hell n’all, I couldn’t see it. Why the fuck would he do some stupid shit like this fah? This shit wasn’t making sense. Poke
coming for Peaches I got, but Le’Ron?

The doctor came in and I picked Blake up getting out of the way.

“I did good? I told her she was pretty.” Blake whispered to me.

I nodded my head. “Yeah, you did. Aye, now that she’s awake, let’s forget about that whooping,” I said, glancing at Peaches then back to Blake to see him shaking his head.

“Nope,” He shook his head back and forth, exaggeratedly.

“Damn, fo’real? What you want?” I asked. Little dude held his hand out, smiling.

“Give me dollas.” He had a full grin now.

“You still got my money from the other day.”

“So! I need more monies for toys.”

Shaking my head at him, I laughed. “Did King give you yo money back?” I asked, trying to change the subject.

“Yeah, can we go to the store?”

I should’ve thought about this before I got his little ass. I’mma be broke messing with him.

“Peaches, I’ll be right back.” As we were walking out I heard Peaches friends laughing. I didn’t even look back, I just left out going straight to the elevator. Fuck what those bitches were cackling about.

Once we got off on the main floor, I took him to the gift shop. I had my bike so I couldn’t take him to the store, so the gift shop was gon’ have to do.

  “What you want?” I asked.

Blake took that as an invitation to run wild. Dude went crazy grabbing cookies, pop, and chips. He even tried to get balloons.

“Blake, you can’t get balloons, man,” I said.

“I get it for Peaches. We can get a bear, flowers and cookies. She’ll feel better,” he explained looking at the bears.

My brows furrowed at that. “You a smart little dude. Maybe having you around won’t be so bad.”

  “I know,” he replied.

I couldn’t do nothing but laugh. “Shut up and go find her something.”

  ***

“Peaches, I got you something.” Blake dropped his bag of stuff and took off his shoes to get back in the bed with her but I stopped him.

“Blake, chill. You can’t keep climbing in bed with her. You can get up there later, i’ight?” I let him stand in the chair so he could show her what he got. “I’ll be right back. Aye, King’s girl, watch him.”
