War Room Page 28

by Chris Fabry

Once she sees her mother’s prayer closet, Danielle decides she wants one of her own. What does that say about the effect of parents’ actions on their children? What can you do to set an example of faith for the children in your life?

Miss Clara tells the friends in her Friday gathering, “The goal of prayer is not to change God’s mind about what you want. The goal of prayer is to change your own heart, to want what He wants, to the glory of God.” Do you agree with her statement? Why or why not? How do you see the prayers of characters in War Room affecting their hearts? Can you think of a time when your own heart was changed in a similar way?

Tony is forced to make a tough decision: to tell his boss about the crime he committed or to keep it hidden. Does he make the right choice? Would it have been enough for Tony to simply pray for forgiveness and keep his secret?

When Coleman Young decides not to file charges against Tony, Tony is understandably relieved. Have you ever been given grace you didn’t deserve? How did you respond?

War Room presents the idea that prayer is a powerful weapon in the battle against evil. Does this imagery change your perspective on prayer? How can it be used to strengthen your own prayer life?

Clara prays, “Raise up a generation, Lord, that will take light into this world. That will not compromise under pressure, that will not cower when others fall away. Raise them up, Lord, that they will proclaim that there is salvation in the name of Jesus Christ. Raise up warriors who will fight on their knees, who will worship You with their whole hearts.” Does the world need this kind of generation? How can you be part of a generation of prayer warriors?
