“We build new,” he responded proudly. “Make tribe bigger and stop fighting.”

“Good.” Zane smiled as his legs began to tremble. “I hope we meet again.”

“As do I.” Dominick quickly bowed his head then made his way back towards the city, smiling at the angels as he passed them. Shouts of relief filled the air as they made their way onto the ship.

“Let’s all get some sleep.” Zane shouted to the crowd. “We set sail in the morning.”

  Two months later…

Aria smiled as the breeze off the ocean fluttered through her hair. They should be able to see Safe Place any minute now. She couldn’t wait to get back on solid land and finally be able to relax. Safe Place had started to feel like home to her. Ryder stood next to her, his eyes scanning the horizon.

“It will be nice to relax for a little bit.” She smiled up at him.

“I can’t believe those words came out of your mouth,” he chuckled. “Since when have you ever thought about relaxing?”

She shrugged; her eyes sparkled with excitement. “Since I’ve had someone to relax with.”

“I look forward to it.” He smiled down at her as he rested his hand on the small of her back.

Zane sighed with frustration as he watched Aria and Ryder at the bow of the ship. His knuckles turned white as he gripped the worn wood of the ship’s wheel. Anger surged through him; his body felt as if it was on fire. Pain seared through his chest as his eyes flickered black.

“I’ve seen that look before,” Kai muttered next to him. “You know it’s best for both of you, for her to move on with Ryder.”

“It’s not that,” Zane grunted. He took a deep breath, willing his body to calm. “I can’t stand seeing their happiness right now. Not after everything that happened. Not after Bishop…” He sighed as he glanced over at Kai. “We don’t even have a body to burn,” his voice broke. “There was nothing left for closure.”

“Exactly, there was nothing left. Nothing of Lilith, or Raphael, or Bishop.” Kai spoke with optimism. “Don’t you think that is odd?”

“You weren’t there, Kai. You didn’t feel the intensity of the flames from the Holy Grail. Nothing could have survived that. Aria only did because she was holding the Holy Grail.”

  “You did,” Kai responded softly.

“That’s different,” he muttered as he turned away from him, his eyes scanning the horizon. “I just wish there was something… anything left for us to… I don’t know.”

“Well,” Kai paused as he watched the sunlight dance on the water. “When we get back, we can always find something in Bishop’s hut to use for a small ceremony. Try to get some closure that way.”

“It’s not the same.” He sighed. “But I appreciate the –”

“No!” The shout echoed down from the crow’s nest.

Zane glanced upwards; his eyes landed on Riley’s distraught face. “What’s wrong?” he shouted. Riley pointed to the horizon. Smoke billowed in the distance, a fiery glow reflecting off the water. “Shit,” Zane muttered. “Kai.” He looked over at him. “Grab Ryder and Aria and prepare the crew for a fight when we land.”

“Got it,” he responded wearily as he made his way to the bow of the ship.

“Riley! Can you see anything else?” he shouted.

“No,” he responded, his voice quivering. “Anne and Aiden are there.”

“I know.” He sighed wearily as he gazed out at the horizon, the blaze of the fire growing brighter. “I know…”

  Epilogue

  Purgatory

Water trickled down the worn stones that made up the walls of the small chamber. Light flickered in through some of the cracks in the foundation. Metal hooks, whips, and skinning knives were lined up on a metal table set against the wall. Lilith stood next to the table, her black hair flowing down her bare back. She was wearing a black halter dress that dipped low in the front, barely covering her pale breasts. Her blue eyes sparkled with delight as she picked up the meat hook.

Bishop was hanging naked in the middle of the chamber, his arms shackled to worn chains that hung from the ceiling. The shackles dug into his wrists, keeping his body suspended in the air. His left eye was swollen shut, while layers of his skin had been delicately carved off his torso, revealing some of the dense muscle beneath. The chill of the room made his hair stand on end, the only warmth he felt was the heat of his blood dripping down his body. Burning pain seared through him as Lilith skewered his thigh with the meat hook.

“Oh look,” she giggled. “You’re awake again!” Her voice hummed with enjoyment as she ran a blood red nail down his tender chest. “I was getting dreadfully bored with you passed out.”

“Fu… fuck you, you demonic cunt. You’re nothing more than Lucifer’s and his demons cum dump.” He coughed hoarsely, his body shaking from the intensity of it.

“My, my… don’t you have a foul mouth? But enough with the pillow talk. One can only get so aroused before having to act on it.” She smiled up at him as she playfully winked. He closed his eyes and groaned in pain as she grabbed his flaccid cock, digging her nails into the soft skin. “You wouldn’t talk like that to your dearest Mikayla, would you?” She giggled as his eyes shot open in panic.

“Don’t talk about her!” he shouted, his voice hoarse and dry.

“Now, now.” Her blue eyes stared deeply into his hazel ones. “You wouldn’t want me to go extra hard on her soul because you aren’t man enough to please me, would you?” She grinned as she fondled his cock. His face fell as he twisted his mouth.

“That’s impossible.” He grunted as Lilith pierced his skin with her nail.

“Oh… Did your angel friends not tell you? Naughty, naughty angels.” She smiled as she released his cock and walked over to the metal table, running her hands along the various tools for torture. “I assure you; your lovely Mikayla is in Hell. I’ve actually become quite fond of her now that I broke her soul. She can be such a naughty girl.” She giggled as her eyes widened with excitement. “A true freak, nothing is off limits with her.” She picked up a whip that had multiple leather thongs lined with metal spikes.

Bishop’s eyes narrowed as they fell on the whip. “You’re lucky it’s me here instead of one of the other Lords of Hell. Beelzebub is not as kind as I am and wouldn’t offer you atonement. But…” She sighed wearily as she turned towards him. “I am the mother of demons. Therefore, I have a soft nature about me.” She winked as she gracefully walked up to him, nonchalantly swinging the whip.

“She can’t be in Hell,” he muttered with disbelief as he eyed the whip. “She was pure and innocent! You’re lying to me!” He met her blue eyes, his frustration growing by the second.

“Oh, my child. The wonderful thing about being a demon is that we don’t have to lie. The truth is always painful enough to get what we want.” She smiled as she dragged the whip across his chest, the metal spikes catching on his raw skin and ripping it open. “You see. Heaven closed its gates after the Battle of Armageddon. They are officially closed for business. Now every single soul goes to Hell. How else would we have gotten so many demons? For the last seven hundred years we have received every single soul.” Bishop’s eyes grew wide as she leaned into him, dangling the whip over his shoulder. Her blood red lips brushed against his ear as she whispered, “I personally torture each soul. Tearing it apart until it becomes its own unique, beautiful demon, ready to do my bidding.”

He swung his head back, creating as much distance from her as possible. “Lies! All of it!” Lilith giggled as she brought her arm back and forcefully swung forward, the loud crack of the whip meeting flesh filled the chamber. Bishop clenched his jaw, refusing to give her the satisfaction of him screaming in pain.

“I guess I’ll just have to show you.” She smiled as she dropped the whip and sauntered up to him again. She leaned against his chest, pushing her breasts against his bloody torso. Her hands clasped the side of his head and forced him to look at her.
His hazel eyes met her blue ones, a shot of electricity coursed through his body.

Fire danced around the cobbled stone chamber. Mikayla’s figure was trapped in the middle of the flames, her clothes had been burned off and her skin was beginning to blister from the heat. Her screams echoed around the chamber, creating a cacophony of pain. Her brown eyes frantically searched the room, looking for an escape. The flames swirled around her, engulfing her body as her screams faded into silence.

The flames disappeared, leaving Mikayla’s broken body strewn on the cold, hard floor. Her breathing was slow and labored as she lifted her head and scanned the chamber. Lilith gracefully entered the chamber, her red robes barely covering her porcelain skin. She carried a skinning knife as she approached Mikayla.

“Why am I here?” she whimpered as she tried to lift her body from the ground.

“You have been forsaken, my child.” Lilith smiled as she knelt next to her. “And your punishment is just beginning.” She ran her blood red nails across Mikayla’s blistered skin. “Unless, of course, you already want to do as I command?”

“I’ll never work for the likes of you,” Mikayla replied haughtily. “I’d rather die a thousand deaths than align myself with a demon.” Lilith laughed as she dragged the skinning knife across Mikayla’s stomach. Her body tensed as a scream escaped her lips.

“That can be arranged my child.” She smiled as she pulled the knife up Mikayla’s chest and swiftly slit her throat.

Images began to swirl, one after another of Mikayla being tortured, her body torn into pieces just to return to its original form. Lilith laughing as she commanded various demons to rape and maim her. Mikayla’s brown eyes begging to be released as she was chained to the wall, watching as they ripped her stomach open and pulled out her intestines.

“No!” Bishop shouted as he shook his head from Lilith’s grasp. Tears streamed down his face as his body trembled with rage. “Why? Why are you doing this to me?”

“Because I need you,” she replied with a smile as she leaned forward and softly kissed his lips. He threw his head back, his face twisted with disgust as he spit on her.

“I’ll never help you,” he hissed. “Everything you have shown are lies. Lies that you have made up to try and turn me against my friends.”

“We haven’t even gotten to the best part.” Lilith growled as she grabbed his head and forced him to look at her again. He struggled to keep his eyes from meeting hers. She placed a hand on his throat and squeezed. “You will look at me,” she shouted as she used his other hand to still his head. He gasped for air as she made eye contact.

Mikayla sat peacefully on a large bed in a small chamber. She wore a blood red robe, her brown hair flowed down her chest in waves. A book was open on her lap; its pages yellowed with age. She smiled as a knock sounded on the door. “Come in.” Her voice was soft and melodic, with a hint of excitement. The door opened as Lilith and two Elites entered the room. Mikayla quickly stood up, the book falling to the floor with a thud.

“Are you ready, my sweet?” Lilith asked softly.

“Of course.” Mikayla smiled as she untied her robes and let them fall to the floor. Her pale breasts glistened in the firelight as she stood patiently waiting for their inspection. Lilith nodded with approval as the Elites quickly undressed and walked over to the bed. One of the Elites laid down on the bed while the other stood impatiently next to it. Mikayla got on the bed and crawled over to the Elite that was lying down. She quickly grabbed his cock and covered it with her mouth, creating an even rhythm. The Elite groaned with pleasure as she worked him.

The Elite standing next to the bed quickly positioned himself behind her and thrust deep inside her pussy. She moaned against the cock in her mouth as the Elite began to increase his speed. Lilith smiled with approval as she dropped her robe and walked over to the bed.

“You have learned quickly.” She looked at Mikayla, her blue eyes shining with pride. Lilith gracefully leapt onto the bed and quickly positioned herself over the Elite’s face. He smiled with delight as she lowered her pussy onto his mouth. Moans of ecstasy filled the chamber as they increased their rhythm, bringing all parties to orgasm. Lilith smiled with delight as Mikayla eagerly repositioned herself, waiting for more.

“No… no, no, no.” Bishop moaned as he closed his eyes, a tear streaming down his face. “That’s not my Mikayla.”

“You’re right.” Lilith smiled as she ran her finger across his chest. “That’s not your Mikayla, it is who she has become. Thanks to me.” She paused as she examined his drawn face. “But you can have her back, complete and whole. I’m offering you an eternity to spend with the one you love, as broken or unbroken as you want her.”

“But she’s dead,” he whispered hoarsely; his eyes frantically searching the room for her.

“She doesn’t have to be.” Lilith smiled as she stepped away from him and held her hands out. She began to chant in Enochian, the ancient language filling the small chamber, echoing off the stone walls. A black mist began to rise from the ground, swirling in front of him as it began to take shape. A woman’s figure stood in front of him, her brown hair flowed down her back.

“Bishop?” Mikayla’s soft voice filled the small chamber. Bishop’s head fell in defeat as tears began to stream down his face. “Bishop, is it really you?”

“No,” he sobbed as he stared at the ground. “No, no, no…”

“Bishop, it’s me.” Mikayla reached forward and softly rested her hand on his chest. “Please, look at me,” she pleaded. He slowly raised his head, his hazel eyes meeting her brown ones.

  “How is this possible?”

“Now that I have your attention.” Lilith smiled as she lowered Bishop to the ground and released the shackles. Mikayla caught him as his body fell forward, his exhaustion taking over. “Are you ready to listen to my offer?”

Bishop rested his head on Mikayla’s chest as they knelt on the ground, her arms wrapped around him protectively. His vision blurred as he looked over at Lilith, triumph sparkled through her blue eyes. “What do you want?” he grunted hoarsely.

“The Nephilim and his little angel whore.” Lilith smiled as Bishop relaxed into Mikayla. “I have some exquisite torture waiting for them. And Lucifer has quite the plan for the Nephilim… all I need is your help in capturing them. That’s it, nothing else.” She paused, relishing the look of defeat on his face. “And once I have them, you two will be free to live as you want. I’ll never bother you again.”

“Bishop.” Mikayla’s soft voice comforted him, bringing a sense of peace to his soul. “You won’t have to do this alone. I’m here now, and I will always be here. Whatever you need.”

Bishop’s body trembled, his mind and soul begging for relief. He sighed with exhaustion as he rested his head in Mikayla’s lap. “Fine,” he muttered as his eyelids fluttered close. “Whatever you want.” His body relaxed as Mikayla ran her hand through his hair. Darkness enveloped him as a strange sense of peace filled his soul.
