“But how can he do that?”

“He must become President.” Hoover replied. “He has a meeting with Lyndon Johnson this afternoon, I’m sure they can come to some agreement.”

  Chapter 98

As Bobby Kennedy entered the Oval Office Lyndon Johnson did not rise to greet him. “Take a seat Bobby.” Bobby did as he was asked and popped his files down on the table between them. “I’m glad that you got in touch Bobby, I’ve been wanting to speak with you.”

  “Really?” Bobby asked.

“Yes, firstly let me say again how sorry I am about Jack.”

“Thank you Lyndon.” Bobby wanted to tear his head off.

  “How’s the family?”

“As you would expect Lyndon, his children have lost their dad and his wife has lost her husband.”

“And you have lost a brother. This country has lost an excellent President.” Lyndon looked sympathetically at Bobby.

  “Yes.” Bobby replied.

“Well as I say I was hoping to speak with you. Given everything that has happened I was thinking that perhaps it may be a little too much for you to carry on in your role as Attorney General. I just wanted to tell you that I will happily accept your resignation.”

Bobby was stunned by the nerve of the man. “I actually had another idea Lyndon, I hope it’s one that you will find agreeable.”

“Anything I can do to help you through this tough period I will gladly do.”

“Good. I would like you to appoint me as Vice President.”

Lyndon was taken aback. “Listen Bobby I have nothing against you or your family but I think we both know I wasn’t your first choice as Vice President and likewise you are not mine. I’m sorry but I think it would be better if you resigned, I don’t think we should continue to work together.”

“Sorry Lyndon I wasn’t suggesting we work together. I would like you to call a press conference appointing me as Vice President. At the same press conference I would like you to tender your resignation effective tomorrow. I would then become the President.”

Lyndon laughed. “Are you crazy? Why would I do that?”

Bobby picked up the files on the desk. “Because Lyndon I know everything, I have proof of the entire assassination plot. I have recordings of you arranging it with Rockefeller and the CIA. I have names, dates, positions of the gunmen. I am allowing you to step down as President of the United States to save you the ignominy of being the first President arrested and sentenced to death whilst still in the job.”

  Lyndon’s jaw dropped.

  Chapter 99

Bobby Kennedy was sworn in as the 37th President of the United States on Wednesday 27th November. During his first term as President, which only lasted one year he successfully managed to disband the CIA. J Edgar Hoover was appointed Director of the FBI for life. He was then re-elected in 1964 for another four years. By early 1965 he had withdrawn all troops from Vietnam.

The bodies of both JD Tippit and John F Kennedy were exhumed and another funeral was held for each of them.

During his second term he continued the work that his brother had started and by allowing the Treasury to print the currency for the United States. This allowed them to print money without incurring debt and essentially destroyed the Federal Reserve. All of the surviving assassins of JFK were given the death penalty. Bobby Kennedy stepped in to try and change the sentences from death to life imprisonment and failed as he didn’t have the jurisdiction to stop a State Execution. Lyndon Johnson was sentenced to life imprisonment as was David Rockefeller and Carlos Marcello. The President also issued a Presidential pardon for Bobby Stinson for any wrongdoing. It was given due to his attempts to save the 35th President of the United States.

Lee Harvey Oswald was joined in Cuba by his wife Marina and their two children. The world at large continues to believe that he was murdered by Jack Ruby, who was also sentenced to life imprisonment.

David, Bobby and Nancy were awarded a house in the Kennedy compound in Hyannis Port, Massachussetts as a thank you for their help in trying to stop and later unveil the truth behind the Kennedy assassination. Jane and Faraday were awarded a house of their own, also in the Hyannis Port compound. They were married on 24th December 1964.

On 1st January 1965 President Kennedy created a new Department that reported directly to him. The official name given to this Department was National Security and Major Crime Prevention. It was a small team that worked from the Whitehouse. Their role was essentially determined by whichever President was in power, there main responsibilities would be to determine and stop the threat of terrorism, organized crime and political assassinations. The department consisted of five members of staff. The head of the department was Bobby Stinson the other members were Jane, Faraday, David and Nancy.
