Yes. No one else would put one damn finger on her. She was his. He knew without any doubt he'd kill anyone who'd hurt her and destroy any man who dared to take her from him.

Somewhere within the lust-induced haze, a moment of clarity struck. Her groans sounded almost pained.

He froze. He scented the slightest trace of blood in the air. “What the fuck is wrong with me?”

This woman, this amazing treasure, had never been with a man. She was tight because no one had ever taken her. Summer was pure, untainted, and she had given him a gift, given him what no other man would ever have.

How did he repay her? He rutted her like a goddamned animal against the hood of a car.

“Jesus, you're a virgin and I…” He went to pull away, but she held him to her.

  “Don't stop. Please.”

“I'm hurting you.” He tried to pull out of her, but she refused to let him go.

“Take me, Kian. I offer myself to you alone.” He struggled with whatever sense of decency still existed in him. He should pull out of her and stop this madness. “Show me how it should be. Show me the passion. Don't deny me this.”

  Deny her? Never.

He brought his lips to hers, the kiss sweet at first. With their mouths locked in tender play, he pulled out of her heat and slid back in with tender care. “I'll be gentle, even if it kills me.” And it would torment him to hold back. He wanted to thrust harder, faster. Each slow plunge threatened his attempts to be a gentleman.

She grabbed his face. Their eyes met and locked. “We are witches, creatures built for pleasure.” She lifted her pelvis, planted her hands on his ass, and forced him in deeper. “I don't want gentle.” She did it again and he saw stars. “I want you.”

“I'm yours, baby. All fucking yours.” He pulled all the way out and drove back in.

Her energy filled him once again.

  His control shattered.

His thrusts came quicker. He swirled his hips, eliciting another sexy moan. Needing more, he pushed her knees back, opening her up even more, penetrating her deeper. Caging her beneath him, he brought his lips to her throat and nipped the sensitive flesh as his shaft thrust into her.

“Yes,” she cried out. “Oh, Kian.”

“Jesus,” he whispered against her ear. “My Summer. My sweet Summer.”

The need to come road him hard, but by some miracle, he held it back. He refused to give in to his own pleasure before seeing to hers.

Deep within him, a great burning strength wanted out. A powerful beast once locked away rattled its cage—a possessive, hungry force starving for her.

Summer belonged to him. He knew this with absolute certainty. She was his redemption, his freedom, the key he needed to open up the shackles holding him for so long in life and in love.

A lifeline dangled before him. All he had to do was grab hold.

He thrust the tendrils of energy building within him inside her. He had no idea what the hell he was doing, but instincts guided him.

Light flashed behind his eyes as he drove his cock deep, hitting the end of her channel. He sensed her flare of power, recognized her pure, white radiance in an instant. Again, she hit him with a blinding shock, but he didn't back away. Not this time.

His acceptance must have been what she needed, because she blew past whatever shield existed, latched on, and gave him what he needed to destroy the internal wall between them. He welcomed her essence, pulled the power within him and embraced it. The life-changing connection made him desperate. His body craved the power she offered him, demanding it. He took her harder and faster.

  “Kian, I'm… I'm…”

  “Come for me, baby.”

Her magic attached with claws drawn and tattooed her name on his soul. She scratched a path along his back, but he didn't care. He loved the sting of her passion on his spine.

As her orgasm struck, a final shot of magic collided between them, bringing them both over the edge. She cried out his name. He shouted hers. Burying his cock deep within her channel, he spilled his seed as he filled her with his power.

He lay on top of her, slick with sweat, his body still humming with their blended power. He lifted himself up enough to glance at his seductive witch. A smile graced her flush features. Her nipples were now red like berries, ripe from his sucking. A couple of light marks from his passionate nips already showed on her neck. The light scent of blood struck him, reminding him of her innocence and how hard he'd taken her.

The bastard he was wanted her again. But he knew she'd be sore. So instead, he offered her a soft kiss and nuzzled the side of her throat. He pulled out of her, eliciting a groan from them both. Her pussy clenched in an attempt to grab his cock as he slipped free. Pleased her body wasn't ready to release him, he smiled, lifted her into his arms, and cradled her like a delicate treasure. Rubbing her cheek over his heart, she cuddled with him.

“You are so warm,” she mumbled against his flesh.

I'm warm because you chase away the coldness. He kissed her forehead. “Come on. There's a bedroom in the back with a shower. We can clean up.”

“You mean you had a bed in here?”

His grin became feral. “Yeah, but the hood was way more fun. Bet you'll never look at a car the same way again.”

She blushed. “Bring me to your bed and you'll never look at your bed the same way again.”

He grew hard again and hurried them toward the back room. “You are a wicked witch.” By the time he kicked open the door, he was more than ready to take her again.

  Chapter 20

Summer held onto Kian tightly as they rode back to her family's cottage. Since no threat of a storm lingered in the sky, they took the bike. Odd how the rainstorm came upon them without warning, but Summer had seen stranger. The supernatural world was filled with the strange and unusual. Even to a witch nature was full of mystery.

Summer smiled, enjoying the cool wind on her face. She loved riding on the metal beast. Sated and free, she clung to her source of her joy. Yes, her body continued to hum, her muscles sore from their lovemaking, but none of that mattered. The only thing she cared for lay in her arms.

The late night air held a damp chill from the sudden rainstorm, yet she remained toasty, snuggled flush to his warm body. He took the exit ramp, turning onto the highway. The shift in direction forced a gust of wind to blow her skirt up, revealing a good portion of her thighs. Kian kept one hand on the handlebars as his other hand lowered to her bare knee.

Hours had passed lying in Kian's arms back at the carriage house. She hadn't meant to get home this late, but the idea of parting from him, for even a moment, seemed inconceivable. Their night together had changed her.

Her body trembled, and it had nothing to do with the bike between her thighs or the cool air rushing across her skin. She would not regret giving him her innocence. Merging her power with him would forever tie them together, no matter what happened, he would remain a part of her.

Their bond would be the one thing to keep her going, but without him in her life, she'd die inside. There'd be nothing left, nothing at all. She'd merely exist.

They turned off the main highway and onto the long road leading to her home. A wolf howled and she shivered. Another howl had her heart pounding. The warning had come too late. When her house came into view, so did her father's van. Reality struck like an iron fist.

Tristan's bike was gone. Another bad sign.

Kian leaned back, twisting his head a fraction. “That's your parents' van, isn't it?”

  “Yes.”

  “Shit.”

She would have seconded his curse, if she wasn't speechless with fear. Kian pulled up to the van and parked his motorcycle. Even with the impending disaster about to unfold, he remained confident and strong.

They both dismounted. Kian slipped the metal plate underneath the kickstand in silence. He glanced up, and without giving her a chance to deny him, he locked their hands together and threw her a faint smile. His gesture might h
ave reassured her had the sharp, violent spike of energy to her left not struck her. She tore her gaze away from Kian and eyed the tall figure stepping out of the shadows of the porch.

Her father, Dash Leery, wore a mask of fury, disappointment, and concern. She had never seen her father more livid. Behind him, Colin MacGlenn appeared. The powerful pure-blooded werewolf's irises lit the darkness like angry spotlights.

Kian stood his ground. That alone earned her respect. Her father held more magic than any witch she knew. If his presence alone didn't terrify a man, the alpha wolf to his left should have been enough to finish the job.

  Kian didn't waver beneath either.

Colin's wild shifter nature gave him a feral look when angered. Eyes glowing yellow, his features sharpened and became harsher. Fangs erupted from Colin's mouth at the sight of their joined hands. Scared for his life, she attempted to pry her fingers free, but Kian snatched them back.

  “Papa, I—”

  “Get in the house, Summer.”

She clenched her fist. “No, I'm not leaving him out here with both of you. He isn't to blame for any of this.”

Colin approached first. “Sweetie, you need to get in the house. It's about to get messy out here, and I don't want you to dirty your pretty dress.”

“No, Colin, I won't let you hurt him.”

Power pulsed, but it wasn't her doing. It was Kian, and it was strong, more powerful than she had ever sensed in him before, more powerful than even her father. Up above, the clouds seemed to roll in, crackling with thunder. A lone flash of lightening lit the sky.

“Go on inside, Summer. It will be okay,” Kian insisted. His eyes remained on her father.

She turned to Kian. The more his power grew, the more she needed to touch him, calm him. She stroked his face with her free hand, forcing his attention to her. The air seemed to thin out around her. The tension dissolved for a moment. “You need to be calm. Remember what I told you. Your power is new and can be ruled by your emotions.”

“I'm cool, baby. Don't worry about me.”

“Summer!” Her father's gaze swirled with violent energy. She jumped at his threatening tone. “Inside now!”

“All due respect, sir, but if you talk to her like that again, we're going to have a problem. I don't give a shit whether you're her father, the president, or the goddamned king of the world. No one talks to her like that.”

Colin laughed. “I like this kid.” Dash flashed him a scowl. Colin put up his hands. “You got to admit he's got balls. Stupid as a stump, but balls.”

She let go of his hand, when all she wanted to do was hold him tighter. “It's okay, Kian. He has a right to be angry.”

  “Like hell he does.”

A smaller figure peeked out from the shadows of the porch. “Summer, come on inside, pumpkin. Let the men talk. Nothing more. Isn't that right, darling?” Her mother gave her father a reprimanding stare.

For a moment, her father's gaze softened. “Yes, my heart.” When he returned his attention to Kian, the anger returned. “A friendly chat, nothing more.”

“Come on.” Summer hesitated, the need to stay by Kian's side overwhelming. “It will be fine,” her mother assured her.

“Go on, baby. Don't worry about me.” Kian kissed her forehead. Both men growled at the blatant show of affection.

“I don't want to leave you,” she whispered.

“Not forever. For now. I promise.”

His last comment gave her the strength to step away from him. “For now.”

She hurried past her father and Colin and into the house.

  ***

Kian prepared himself for the attack. The second Summer disappeared inside, her father advanced.

“Son, you got a hell of a lot of nerve coming here. I know who you are.” Her father stopped inches away from him. “You and your derelict friends have been trespassing on our land for years. Drinking, doing drugs and whatever else you can find to poison your bodies. Now you think it's all right to trespass on my daughter? To expose her to your filth?”

Kian recognized the great power this man possessed by the sparking lights flashing in his gaze and the energy cracking in the air all around him, but he wasn't a coward. He stood his ground.

Colin approached on the other side, his aura strong, but different, wild and unpredictable. He sniffed and his nose scrunched as if he caught a foul scent. His eyes turned back to Summer's father. “Dash, he's got witch in him,” he snarled.

“Winter told us what happened with the house. How you and your drunken buddies scared my daughters half to death, threatened what's mine. Vandalized my house.” He sniffed. A loud snarl left his lips followed by a look of disgust. “You seduced my daughter and desecrated her innocence.”

“I didn't vandalize anything. My former friend is to blame, not me. I came here and repaired whatever damage he inflicted. As for Summer, I won't give her up. I refuse. She is mine as much as I'm hers.”

“I should kill you right now for taking my daughter’s innocence. She reeks of you.”

Kian clenched his fists, but nothing else in his body moved. His palms burned from the power building within him. “Funny, you're accusing me of taking her innocence,” he blurted out. “I'm not the one selling her off to some son of a bitch who will strip her of all things that make her the beautiful woman I love.”

Dash grabbed his throat. He moved so fast and with such precision, Kian didn't have a chance to block him. Her father's power rushed over Kian's skin, creating an invisible shackle holding him in place. Dash's fingers tightened. “You don't know what you're talking about. Since her birth, she has known her duty. It is an honor to—”

“Do you even… know her… at all?” Kian sputtered. Struggling to breathe. He tried to use his power to fight back, but hit a wall once again. “If you force her… make her… marry, she'll never be… the same.”

“Dash, let him go. You'll kill him at this rate, and I'd like a crack at him first. It's not the same when you're beating a corpse.”

Dash released him, and Kian stumbled back. He relentlessly sucked in the deep breaths Dash had denied him. He rubbed his aching throat, glaring at the witch. “Her free spirit, her strength, her independence—” he sucked in another deep breath “—all those things will disappear.”

“Get on your bike and ride out of here, cowboy. Be thankful I'm letting you live. Next time, I will not extend the same kindness.” Dash turned his back on him. With a snap of his fingers, Kian's bike sprang to life.

“You’d better go,” said Colin. “I won't bother stopping him again.”

Kian glanced at the house and caught sight of Summer in the window, tears staining her face, her palm plastered on the new window he installed. He wanted to go to her. He resisted. He'd be dead before his foot hit the first step of the porch, but she was worth the fate.

  She mouthed, “Go.”

He growled, before jumping on his bike.

He pinned the throttle and the wheel spun as he headed up the narrow road toward the main highway. The second he hit the open asphalt, he shifted and rocketed up the pavement. He almost prayed for a blowout, wishing for something to put him out of this damn misery.

  ***

Summer watched his bike disappear in the darkness. Her heart left with him. Winter sat crying on the sofa. In the short time they'd known him, she and Kian had become friends. Winter considered him like an older brother. Not forming many friendships due to their rural surrounding, his loss would hit Winter hard.

Her mother sat next to Summer the entire time, rubbing her arm, refusing the leave her even when tears rushed over her cheeks like a waterfall. If her mother hadn't sat next to her, offering this small comfort, Summer would have run out there after him. She would have torn through the forest and ran miles to settle in his arms once again.

Her mother's comfort surprised her. Perhaps she recognized the bond they formed tonight. Had Kian's powers been at their fullest, they would have bonded completely. As i
t was, even a partial bond created a lifetime link.

Shadows of his anger, his need to come back to her, drifted in her subconscious, amplifying her own growing compulsion to run into his arms.

Kian's mother had made the claim that he was her mate when she first sat beside her. It would explain the intense attraction and undeniable draw to him. The occurrence was so rare in modern times that many consider it an old wives’ tale for hopeless romantics.

She, on the other hand, was beginning to reconsider the existence.

The front door opened and then slammed shut with an echoing thud. All of the women jumped.

Her mother stood as her father advanced. “You must calm down, Dash. Please,” she begged.

Her father's irises swirled with bursts of blue and yellow. He ignored his wife's pleas. “His stink is all over you. You dishonor this family and you are not worthy of the promise given to you.”

“I'm not sorry. I will never be sorry. What we have given each other, no one will take from us.”

“He is using you. Are you so blinded by lust? All his kind does is destroy. He will never be the man you deserve.”

“You can marry me off to that spoiled tyrant. I will breed his spawn and play the doting wife, but I will never love him. I will never bond with him. My heart, my power, and my body will always belong to Kian. Always.”

Her father lifted his hand as if to slap her, but stopped. His entire body shook.

  “Dash,” warned her mother.

He seemed to come back to himself. “Pumpkin, I'm sorry. The idea of you being seduced… brainwashed by a human makes me furious.”

“He did not manipulate me or seduce me. If you know me at all, you know I am by no means weak or easily influenced.”

“The Goddess welcomed him,” Winter blurted. Every eye turned to her sister. “She told Summer to bring him back here. To teach him our ways. We were doing what she asked. Summer can't help if she fell in love with him. He's hot.”

Their mother covered her sudden smile with her hand.

“There is no humor in this situation at all, Autumn.” Dash frowned at his wife. He turned to Winter. “Where did you hear this language? Wait, I don't want to know. I'm terrified to find out what other filth he filled your heads with.”
