A moan broke out over her lips. He worked his finger deeper, paying attention to her sounds of pleasure, learning what she wanted, what she desired, what made her purr so sweetly. “You're tight, baby. So hot. So fucking mine.”
“Take me. Please. I’m empty without you.”
He wanted to taste her, but the ache to be inside her was too much. Not only his desires, but also hers, bombarded him.
Unable to deny her, he pulled his fingers free of her tight sheath, lined the blunt head of his cock against her, and pushed past her opening with one sharp thrust.
She tossed her head back. Her long, wet curls slapped her spine. He gathered the strands into his hands, wrapping them around his palm, and circled his hips. Short, deep, driving thrusts soon became long, quick plunges of domination.
This woman, this witch, was born for him. How he knew this, he had no clue, but he knew without an ounce of doubt. He'd kill for her. He'd die for her, and as the Goddess was his witness, no one would ever take her away from him.
Chapter 24
With each slam of his pelvis against her ass, the storm surged. Wind whipped around them in violent gusts. Rain soaked their naked flesh, making Summer's skin as slick as her pussy.
Overhead, thunder rolled, filling the grove with deafening crashes. Veined bolts flashed across the onyx sky. Behind her, his thrusts grew harder, commanding her, claiming her, and for the first time in her life, she submitted. She threw away her shields of tradition, buried her sense of duty, and followed her heart.
“Feed me your magic. I want more.”
“Mine,” he roared. “You're mine, Summer. Say it.”
“Yes, always yours.”
Out of nowhere, a jolt of power slammed into her, sending her over the edge of the emotional cliff she balanced on since she first looked into Kian's dark, beautiful eyes. His power shot into her as powerful as a streak of lightening. Her back arched and she cried out his name as an orgasm rushed through her.
A storm raged around them, surrounding them in a dome of passion she was helpless to escape. Heat poured off him in delicious waves. She basked in the hot crests and drew in his sweet magic until the tingling tension of another release hovered on the edge. Without warning, he pulled out of her.
“Get on top of me. I want to see your face as you take your pleasure.”
He lay on his back. Flashes from up above highlighted the athletic definition of his wide chest. She straddled him, positioning her pussy over his shaft, and sheathed him. His eyes swirled with his magic, bright white irises tinted with gold and blue. She had never seen a more stunning sight. Joy filled her heart, happy to know he had found his true self. His wall was destroyed and his power restored.
“My heart, my love,” she cried.
Sheets of rain made their bodies slide together with ease. He drove up into her as she met his demand, pressing and gyrating herself against him. He drew her downward, brought her breast to his lips, and sucked her nipple into his mouth. After a few flicks of his teasing tongue, he sucked the sensitive tip hard, making her move her hips faster. He shifted and slammed up into her. He did it again and again, until the coil twisting within her grew taut, threatening to explode. When his finger pressed on her clit, an intense tightness ripped through her core.
She sensed him now, every part of him. She knew what he wanted, knew what he craved, his emotions familiar, raw, possessive. He needed to erase all men from her mind, to imprint on her so she would never leave him. She sensed it beneath his urgency, recognized the tendrils of undying adoration caressing her. There was fear and anger in his mind, but most of all love. Unbelievable love.
“Summer,” he cried out. “Baby, I love you so damn much.”
Heat from his palms burned her flesh as currents of his energy surged into her. They locked around her essence and held her to him, merging their souls together, forming an endless whirlpool of power. He rolled her over on her back and rose up above her. His eyes shimmered bright white. He pulled out of her, thrust back in, and hit a spot deep inside her.
“Oh, yes.”
He grinned. “That's the spot, baby. That's the fucking spot,” he growled. He hit it again and again. Stars burst behind her eyes. A burning force centered in her belly, rocketing lower.
“Kian, I'm…” He was taking her to the heavens again. Her body wound tight. Every muscle clenched.
“I can't hold out… much… longer, baby. Going to…” Kian groaned
“Yes,” she shouted.
Kian tensed, burying his shaft against her womb, and shot his seed inside her. The coil twisting within her sprung. One final streak of power shot through her. She screamed, her cry overpowering the thunder.
The rain slowed to a drizzle and the sky faded to black.
He buried his face against her neck, kissing her skin on the sensitive part of her throat where he marked her with his teeth, eliciting a shiver. Pushing up, he stared into her eyes. “I love you, Summer.”
She brushed away drops of rain from his cheek. I love you, Kian.
The words drifted through his mind like a whisper. He jerked back, his gaze wide, and stared deep into her eyes. “Was that…? Did you talk…?”
Yes, we're fully bonded, my love. We can speak into each other's minds now. Go ahead, try it. She smiled.
They'll have no choice but to leave us alone now. You're mine.
Her eyes glanced away from him.
Kian touched her cheek. No, don't look away from me, baby. No hiding from each other anymore.
It's complicated. My father has done something.
What did he do, baby?
She closed her eyes. A tear trailed over the curve of her cheek. The truth was far too painful to fathom. He made a deal with Malcolm and his family.
“What kind of deal?” he spoke aloud.
“If I break the marriage contract set forth by our families, I forfeit our land. The entire woodland goes to Malcolm. We will lose everything.”
“Is he out of his mind? Why the hell would he take such a risk?”
“He was ensuring my future. It was the only way they would agree to the union. He didn't know I had fallen in love with you.” Her palm settled on his face. “He offered to withdraw his deal when he found out how I cared for you, when he learned we had partially bonded, but I… I couldn't allow my family to lose all they have to ensure my happiness. I couldn't.”
He brought her palm to his mouth and placed a tender kiss. “We'll figure something out. I refuse to give you up, but I won't let your family lose these woods. First, we need to dry off. We're drenched and you're getting cold. What a time for a storm to roll in, but I have to admit, baby, I like you all wet.”
“Well, you will have to be in more control next time.”
He narrowed his gaze and pulled her against him. “Hey, I was in perfect control of my equipment.”
She laughed. “I'm not talking about your… equipment. I'm referring to your power. The storm was your doing. Impressive. The memory of your power makes me tremble.”
“You mean… I… the rain…?”
“Yes, it's a rare gift to control weather, given through powerful bloodlines alone. You will be a much sought-after witch.”
“There's only one witch I want chasing after me.” He kissed her hard until she moaned in his arms.
He stood, his cock once again hard and ready, and offered his hand. She took it without reservation, and with a swift tug, he lifted her from the ground, straight into the cradle of his arms. “Those sounds you make drive me crazy.”
He stalked over to the little house, pushed the door open with his foot and hurried inside to lay her on a pile of pillows.
She giggled. “What are you doing?”
“I'm not taking any chances out there. Who knows what kind of storm I'll brew up. I intend to take you again, and until I can control this magic, we're staying inside.” His cock stood straight up and jerked, agreeing with his claim. He glanced at the erect shaft, then looked ba
ck up and narrowed his eyes on her. “I'll never get enough of you, woman.”
“By all means, take me wherever you wish, my witch.”
He lifted an eyebrow and then pounced.

“You know what you need to do.” Maxwell's cold, calculating tone gave Pete a grin as he held his cell phone tight to his ear.
“Yeah, boss. I got the stuff right here.” He lifted the heavy red container. The liquid sloshed inside. “By the time I'm done, this bug-infested dump will be nothing but ash.”
“Good.” Maxwell chuckled. “When the deed is done, disappear for a few weeks. Take some time off. Are we clear?”
“Absolutely, Mr. Lancaster.”
Pete ended the call and tossed the phone on the passenger seat of his car. He glanced at his watch. He told his brother to meet him at the gas station downtown, and he was a half hour late. Damn self-righteous witch.
Headlights flashed. Pete glanced up to find a shiny new Mercedes pull up beside him.
His half-brother, Lex, climbed out dressed in a three-piece suit, sporting a pair of Ray Bans and a deep taupe tan. Six foot three and a mountain of muscle, Lex strolled over toward Pete with an air of extreme power and menace. Humans stopped what they were doing. They scurried when he pinned them with a sudden glare.
“The fucking sun set an hour ago, bro.”
A smug smile tugged at Lex's lips. “The sun’s always shinning for me, brother.”
Pete rolled his eyes. Lex linked to the element of fire, the lucky bastard. “Unlike you, I don't have all the time in the world. I got shit to do. Did you bring my amulet?”
Lex tossed the necklace over to Pete. He caught it with ease. “You're in over your head this time brother. I know the family you're messing with. The Leery Clan is powerful in the coven's political circle and if I'm not mistaken, they're friends with one of the strongest shifter packs in the country.”
“That's why I got the talisman.” He tapped his temple. “See, always thinking.”
Lex advanced. “I promised Mother I'd look after you.”
“Well, she's dead now. So, no harm, no foul. You don't need to concern yourself with me and what I do.”
“A witch's promise cannot be broken. Not even through death.” Lex's smile faltered, as if he hated the admission.
“Like always. The good one in sweet old Mom's eyes.” Funny, since Lex was as much a criminal as Pete.
Lex shook his head. “Come work for me. I can keep an eye on you. Besides, I could use extra muscle. It disgusts me to know you’re working for a useless human.”
“Yeah, sure, work for a crazy group of witch purists. Me, your dirty little secret. Sounds like a shitload of fucking laughs.”
Lex’s grin turned feral. “You have a point. You smell too much of human.”
Pete scowled. “The amulet will work? It will hide my presence? I don't want any damn surprises.”
“They won't even know you're there, brother. I swear it.”
Pete grinned. After this job, he'd have another twenty grand to line his pocket. Shit, he'd be able to buy the new Porsche he had his eye on. Pete glanced at his brother's car. Smugness filled him at the idea of parking a flashy new sports car next to his all-powerful brother's luxury sedan.
Pete pulled out a stogie and lit the tip, flashing a smirk.
Lex held out a glass tube, corked at the top.
“What's this?” Pete's grin fell.
“Added insurance. Put it in the accelerant. It will assure the fire burns true.”
Pete frowned. “I don't need your junk. The cocktail I whipped up will make the place light up like a bonfire.” Bye-bye, woods… hello, Bahamas.
“Trust me, those woods are protected with powerful magic. No witch of worth would leave their sanctuary unprotected. It will take more than a can of gas to take it out.”
Pete glanced at the tiny glass vial. He took another heavy tug at his cigar and snatched it from his brother's palm before blowing a few smoke rings.
“Well, better get the show on the road. I got a plane ticket to buy and a forest to burn.”
Chapter 25
“My love, I need you again.”
Kian grinned at her sexy plea. They had spent the last twenty-four hours loving each other, regardless of the obstacles waiting around the corner. How they were going to get her out of marrying Malcolm and not lose the land her kin had owned for generations, he had no clue. He did know there was no way in hell he was giving her up.
Summer trailed a fingertip across his nipple and he shivered. “Why do you have such a serious look on your face?”
“It's nothing, baby.” He kissed her forehead. He didn't want to talk of their uncertain situation. All he wanted at this moment rested in his arms.
She lifted up on her elbow and glanced at him. The joy he found in her eyes moments ago was now faded. “What are we going to do?”
“Let's not worry about it right now.” He leaned over and captured her lips, hoping to shift her attention, but his stubborn witch wasn't having it.
“We have to get up at some point, my love. We can't hide in here forever. They will come for me and—”
“Do you smell something burning?” The sudden stench of fuel and burnt leaves drifted past.
“You can't keep changing the subject—”
“Jesus, I smell smoke.”
Summer stopped. She lifted her chin. “Goddess, I smell it too.”
Out of the corner of his eye, Kian noticed faint plumes of smoke begin to rise up from underneath the door. He leapt up. “Where the hell are my pants?”
He spotted his clothes on the floor by the altar. Frantic to get Summer to safety, he rushed to his clothes and yanked his jeans up over his hips. He tossed her his shirt and boxers. “Put these on, baby.”
She did as he said without argument.
Once dressed, they ran to the door. Summer reached for the handle, but Kian stopped her.
“Wait, don't open it. Check it. Is it hot?”
She placed her palm on the wood. “No, it's still cool.”
Confident whatever burned outside wasn't close enough to heat the wood. He let Summer open the door.
A thickening cloud of smoke and ash hovered over the grove. Kian covered his mouth, coughing and gagging as the poison invaded his lungs, burning his chest. Flames lit the entire south side of the forest. He glanced behind them to find a portion of the west side ignited too. They had to get the hell out of there before they were surrounded.
Summer lifted her arms. Her eyes closed. She stood still.
“What the hell are you doing? We have to get out of here.”
Her eyes sprang open. “My magic is blocked. I'm trying to call for aid but… Oh Goddess, if my power isn't working, then my family's powers might be blocked as well. I have to warn them.”
A large figure burst through a haze of thick smoke swallowing one of the trails leading into of the grove. Summer's father appeared. He had a rag over his mouth, his eyes red and swollen. “Summer! Where are you?”
“Father, over here,” she cried.
Her father ran to her. He hugged her quickly, then pulled back and looked her over for injures. Satisfied she hadn't been hurt, he let an angry gaze settle on Kian. “What are you doing here?”
“Please, Father, we have to get out of here. I tried to use my powers, but I keep hitting a wall, and the fire is moving too fast.”
“I know. Our powers are being blocked. Dark magic is at play here.” He narrowed his gaze on Kian. “Winter used the phone you gave her to call Colin and his enforcers. They're on their way with the fire department.” His anger dissipated. “Thank you for buying her the phone.”
Something flashed past Kian's peripheral vision. A large shape he knew all too well. “Take her back to the house.”
“What? No, you're coming with us,” Summer protested.
“This wasn't an accident, Summer. I know who started this, and I'm going to end it. I love you, baby.” He kis
sed her. “Always.” He gave her one last emotion-filled embrace before he pushed her toward her father. “Take her. Now. Keep her safe.”
“No,” she screamed as her father dragged her away.
Kian darted toward the path where he saw the figure disappear. Little did Pete know, but the escape route he'd picked would lead him back toward the flames. This place was a maze, and the rat bastard took the wrong road.
Smoke thickened and the heat intensified the further Kian ran up the dirt path. Pete hadn't gotten far. His wide back and thick legs appeared through the heavy smoke. Kian leapt up, tackling Pete, knocking the brute to the ground hard. Pete shook off the attack quicker than Kian expected. Kian rolled away from his elbow.
“Well, if it isn't Kian, the wonder boy.” Pete cackled.
Kian put a few feet between them as Pete pulled himself to his feet. Lit embers drifted past them like swarms of fireflies. Sweat poured off Pete's forehead and black smudges covered his sharp features. “Funny meeting you here, boy.” Pete wiped his bloody lip. “Nice shot.”
The fire grew closer with each passing second. Smoke rolled in the breeze, hungry for whatever oxygen remained. Kian struggled to find fresh air, his lungs protesting. The crackle of smoldering twigs and leaves intensified all around him.
He may die here today, but he planned to take this son of a bitch with him.
“I'm not going to let you get away with this. There are people who live here. This is all they have. This is their home. You would kill all of them for my father's sick power trip?”
“I'd kill my own mother if she weren't already dead. This ain't about your father, boy. This is about money. As long as your dad is supplying it, I'll do whatever the fuck he wants. Hear me?”
Fury erupted in Kian at the same time as a quick streak of lightening shot across the sky, followed by a distant roll of thunder. Kian attempted to use his power to control the next bolt, but hit a wall.
