Shadow Hawk Page 18

by Jeanie P Johnson

“Because you are stuck in my heart, and I can’t get you out,” I admitted.

“You too have been stuck in my heart,” he breathed, as he reached down and took my hand. “Perhaps we should listen to Wahcondakah, and obey his wishes,” he smiled.

“Do you still want me?” I asked, almost afraid of what I would hear.

“I wanted you, the moment I pulled you out of that river. It has been a hard journey from there to here. Do you want me?”

“More than I can explain,” I whispered.

“Then don’t explain it. Just show me,” he said.

With his words, he stepped closer. Now, his arms were holding me to him, and the very smell of him took me back to the past, and I realized I belonged in his arms. I never wanted to leave his arms.

“Be my woman always,” he begged.

“I was always your woman, Shadow Hawk. I just wouldn’t accept it. I fought against it. But I am through fighting now. I surrender!”

I could feel Shadow Hawk’s lips consuming mine. It had been a long hard journey, but now the journey had come to an end. I thought I had come home when I went back to my farm. However, that had not really been my home. I was now discovering, I had come home for good, to the place where I was supposed to belong.

My dream became a reality. I was surrendering completely, as Shadow Hawk pulled me down into the grass, and smothered me with kisses, while he refreshed my memory in the ways he knew how to make love to me. I knew that Running Wolf, and even Elliot must be smiling down on me now, because Wahcondakah would make sure that their spirits would follow us as we shared the rest of our lives together. I had finally accepted my destiny which was always to be sheltered in the arms of Shadow Hawk.
