by Cleo Coyle

This week, Brainert’s undergrads would be attending two of his lectures at the Movie Town Theater, along with screenings of Peyton Place and Valley of the Dolls.

So, all’s right with your little, living world now?

“The Quibblers are still at war with the city council, Seymour can’t decide on whether to adopt a bird friend for Waldo, I heard Bull McCoy may get a promotion, and Spencer’s obsessing far too much about reaching Level Five of Avenging Angel. But I think you can rest assured that things are good.”

Rest sounds good, baby. For now, anyway. I’ll see you in your dreams . . .

As a draft in the room made me shiver, I swore I saw the gumshoe flash a ghostly smile before fading back into the fieldstone walls that had become his tomb.
