Action (Hollywood Nights (Book 7)) Page 6

“Vulnerable? Like a lady? You can’t just bluster through your feelings?” He shook his head no. “Pretend you are in jeans and a t-shirt Dags. Take the shoes off so you can feel more like yourself.”

“People have started to put pictures of us up on the internet.” She frowned.

Bruce chuckled. “Get used to it. Stop looking. The public isn’t sleeping with him Dagney, you are.”

“I know he says it, but Bruce I’m not…” She teared up again.

“You’re not…Oh, Dags. Come here.” He pulled her in for a big bear hug. “You are. You always have been. You were cute as a kid, you didn’t have that really awkward stage as a teenager, and you are beautiful as a woman. One of the reasons I never brought you around more people in college is because they would say inappropriate things not realizing you were my sister.”

“What’s this?” Foster asked. He looked at Dagney, but didn’t look at her. The guy was crushed and it was obvious he feared she would finish the job.

“She was nervous about what I would say about your proposal. It’s soon, you know. I told her to follow her heart.” Bruce set her away from him. She pushed her hands over her cheeks wiping the tears. “You have my blessing.”

“She doesn’t want to marry me, mate.” Foster turned and walked back towards the back door.

“Dagney. Tell him. Tell him the truth.” Bruce pushed her towards Foster. He had stopped upon hearing that. He didn’t turn around to face them.

“I want to marry you. I am just afraid…”

“You’re breaking my heart, luv. Shredding it like a paper in one of those machines,” he said it low and solemnly. “I told you I’d delay the tour if you needed more time. I just wanted to protect you; to be sure you were treated properly at all times.”

He walked out the back door and onto the beach.

Dagney looked at Bruce. “I don’t know, kid. Tell him you found some tape. He’s a musician. I guess that makes his heartbreak more dramatic than every one else’s. Do you want me to go kick his ass?”

  She smiled, laughed. “No.”

“Then do something about it, because I don’t like seeing you cry. I feel bad for him, but you’re my concern here.” He put his hands on his hips and waited. She nodded and went out the back door.

As if on cue his phone rang. He pulled it from his pocket and sighed with relief. “Hi, gorgeous.”

  Later…

Harmony was sure that he was going to officially propose to her sometime soon. It apparently wasn’t going to be today. He looked exhausted when he came in the door. He walked over to her and hugged her so tight she could barely breathe.

  She asked, “What’s wrong?”

“Are you scared?” he asked and looked down at her.

“Should I be?” She had no idea where this was coming from.

“Of me, of marriage, of everything. If you are I want you to know it’s okay to tell me. I know it’s scary. I’m not impervious to it.” He looked down at her confused expression and must have read it wrong because he said, “I’m sorry for rushing you.”

“What are you talking about?” She was starting to panic. “I put in my notice today because of that speech you gave my parents. Are you getting cold feet? I need to know right now before I can’t undo—”

He cut her off with a kiss. His hands were suddenly everywhere at once. She could not keep up with him. He had her half naked before he even let her up for air.

  “Bruce!”

He pulled his shirt over his head and went back to kissing her. He lifted her up and carried her to her bed.

“What are you doing?” She was giggling now. He unfastened his pants and her laughter stopped. “Bruce?”

“I want to marry you. Now.” He tossed his pants aside.

“That will be difficult if you keep taking our clothes off don’t you think?” She gulped. He had a look of sheer determination in his eye.

“Well maybe not right this minute, but soon. You tell me when.” He reached out and grabbed the elastic of her panties and stripped them down her legs. She was falling backwards a moment later as he pulled her legs apart and upwards as he leaned down to lick the tender flesh there.

Any and all arguments she may have had about his lack of romance in that proposal, not to mention the lack of a ring, went out the window. Since he had done this a few time by now he was able to get her up that mountain pretty quickly. Faster than even she had in the past.

Her orgasm slipped through her in a silky wave of little throbs and pulses. She called out to him. He stripped his underwear down and moved between her legs. He didn’t have a condom on. He looked at her and asked, “When?”

“Now.” She practically breathed. Just the silky feel of him was enough to make her want him bare.

He snickered, “I thought you said we need clothes to do it now.”

“Stop teasing me.” She pulled at his back. The head wedged and she groaned. “I’m not on birth control.”

“I was counting on that. We’ll take your parents, Dagney and Foster, and go to Vegas this weekend.” He pushed into her and she arched her back as she groaned. He felt good with protection. He felt amazing without it.

His lips met hers and he kissed her like she was and would be the last woman he ever kissed like this. Her arms and legs moved around him to pull him closer and hold him tighter. He didn’t take long to come this time. He was staring at her, watching her watch him, until he began emptying inside of her and breathed out, “I love you.”

He kissed her long and deep. When he let all of his weight rest on her she turned her head and whispered in is ear, “I love you, Bruce.”

He turned his head to face her and smooched her lips. “Good. I was starting to think you just liked me a lot.”

She moved her right hand up and before realizing it, she popped him again. “Damn it. I keep forgetting about this stupid thing.”

“I think you just keep reminding me about it.” He winked.

She let the tips of her fingers touch his hair. She couldn’t wait until she could use both of her hands to hold him. “Do you have a ring for me or is that too old fashioned?”

“Oh, shit. I forgot.” His blue eyes widened. “It’s in my pocket.”

“You don’t have a pocket that I am aware of.”

“Not one safe to put a ring in anyways.” He bussed a kiss over her lips and then abruptly lifted off of her.

  “Hey!”

“You want the ring.” He moved his arms with the expression to indicate he had no choice. He fished in his pocket and pulled out a black box. He crawled back into the bed with her and said, “Wait, do you want me to get down on one…”

“Open it!” She wanted him to stop teasing her.

“Yeeeks, already with the bossiness.” He laughed as she frowned at him.

“Bruce?” She leaned in and kissed him. She pushed at his shoulders for him to roll towards his back. He complied easily. One thing she knew for certain was that he really only needed a small break, and he was always better the second time around. She kissed his neck, his chest.

“I thought you wanted the ring?” He closed his fist around the box.

“I do, but not more than I want you.” She wrapped her lips around his cock and took advantage of the semi-flaccid state while she could. Like this, he was easy to consume entirely. Of course within two seconds he was testing the limits of her jaw’s flexibility.

“Oh, fuck that feels good,” he said as he groaned. “Ride me.”

She moved into place. The feel of his thickness slipping into her always made her gasp and him smile. He reached up to touch her and realized he still had the box in his hand. He looked at her. She seated herself on him completely. He opened the box to reveal a large diamond, big enough she had never seen one except in magazines or on celebrities. “Oh my God, that thing is huge.”

“Yes, but do you like the ring?” He laughed.

She blushed, leaned over and kiss
ed him. “It’s beautiful. Thank you. I didn’t expect that.”

“What did you expect?” He arched his brow.

“I didn’t know what to expect, but I suppose something considerably smaller.” She let him slide the ring on her finger. It fit perfectly. “How did you know what size to get?”

“Well I measured your finger by putting it in my mouth when you were asleep and then I had the girl at the place put her fingers in my mouth until…hey, wait, that tickles.” It was a new discovery she had made by accident when he was sleeping and her hand slid along the top of his hip. He smiled and laughed in his sleep. He was being fresh and funny, which she loved, but she wanted to know for real. He laughed again and said, “I asked your mom. I asked your mom.”

“What am I going to do with you?” She looked down at him as she sat up.

“Anything you want,” he said seriously. “Just don’t break my heart.”

He reached up and touched her face. He was so gentle with her sometimes it made her heart warm and fuzzy feeling. She turned her head into his hand and captured his thumb with her mouth. She lifted and then slowly lowered onto him. “You know if you move at that pace, I can do this all night.”

  “I know.”

  Epilogue

Melody put her ear buds in to drown out the noises coming from her neighbor’s apartment. Harmony sure landed a good man, a very good man from what she had heard through the wall the past few weeks. It was starting to wear on her.

She walked through her apartment and took a look around. His wasn’t where she was supposed to be. This wasn’t the life she wanted to live. She looked in the mirror and decided it was time for a change. She wanted to be a model. She needed to put down the candy bar and pick up the key card that gave her access to the gym.

She wouldn’t make it to her goal weight by next week, when they were apparently getting married in Vegas, but she would throw her good friend a reception a few weeks after and hope that there were more men where Bruce came from. Single men. Someone to help her burn off some carbs.

She was ready to get back in the game, back to her life and out of hiding. It was time for some model behavior.
