Wrestling With Love

“You guys are entirely too much!” Mila said.
“Yeah,” Britani said, panting to catch her breath, “But you love us!”
“That I do, that I do!”
Just then, Uncle Sammy and Aunt Ellen pulled up, carrying Aunt Ellen's prized pecan pie aka Trevor's favorite! Aunt Ellen was as ornery as ever. Uncle Sammy had finally given in and retired from his law firm. In a shock move, he'd left Mila's sister Andrea, who had finally graduated Law School, in charge. Andrea was doing great. Aside from the degree and the job, she and Mark had welcomed twin sons nearly a year ago.
Brian and Tori were doing great with little Alex. Tori had gone back to school to further her education in the medical field. Her goal was to be a Pediatric Surgeon. Brian owned his own construction company and was doing great.
The best part was the relationships that Mila, Andrea and Brian had formed. None of them spoke regularly to their parents, and quite frankly they were all better off that way.
Occasionally their mother would call Andrea but since the birth of the twins, Andrea's maternal instincts wouldn't let her even listen to their mother. For her part, Charlotte was still as clueless as ever. In the twisted little world in which she lived, everyone had betrayed and abandoned her. She never took responsibility and sadly no one in her life, not even their Dad, was ever going to force her to. So, the siblings lost all contact with them.
No one knew what had happened to Dominic and Lydia. They had supposedly taken off for the Texas area, but no one had seen or heard from either of them since.
Samantha had also moved away. She claimed it was simply because Ken got a better job opportunity out in California, but they all knew she just wanted to escape. She would call occasionally and send cards at holidays, but Trevor didn't make any attempt to respond.
He said he would entertain the idea of talking to her when she took responsibility and stopped making excuses for their father, who Trevor swore she knew the top-secret whereabouts of.
Michael Mileno was found guilty in the death of Trevor's Mom Janet. Trevor was given the opportunity to read a victim's impact statement, which Mila thought really helped him.
Mileno got life in prison. Star had indeed moved to Boston and in a twist of fate that literally NO ONE saw coming, had cleaned up her life and become a motivational speaker for young girls.
Pro Elite Wrestling was thriving. They had just recently acquired 4 of the biggest free agents in the wrestling world, who could only elevate the company even further.
“Yep,” Mila thought, “life's pretty great. Mikey still visits me in my dreams sometimes and I know he's watching over. The moral of my story? Simple. It's ok to be happy.”
Dedications
This book is dedicated to my #1 supporter, my amazing mother, Cheryl. There are no words to say how much I love and appreciate you. You’re the greatest Mom anyone could ever ask for. I love you beyond measure.
To my best friend, my sister Erin. Thick or thin, good or bad we’ve always known we had each other. Most people aren’t blessed with that kind of friendship for even a short time in their lives, let alone over 30 years. You are my sister, always. Love you sweetbee!
To Ben; are there even words? You are nothing short of a blessing in my life and I’m beyond thankful for you. Your support, encouragement, humor and love have kept me going even on my worst days. Our talks always seem to be the bright spot of my day. Thank you for just being you. Love you always!
To Loretta; One of the absolute kindest, sweetest and most talented souls I know. Your friendship, support, guidance and our occasional random topic rants have meant the world and kept me (mostly) sane. I’m so grateful to have met you!
In Loving Memory of; my father, Richard, my late husband Matthew and my Grandma Bernice. You are all forever a part of me and the love we shared will carry me through the rest of my days. Thank you for always believing in me. Love and miss you all!
