»We have to eat something soon.«
»Maybe we can cook one of these night monsters,« Tranos replied with a chuckle.
Vasina smiled briefly.
»We’re trapped on this world, Tranos. There’s no ship that can rescue us. The Kugos don’t want us and this tundra and the desert are not really inviting either. Do we need to wait here a hundred years for the artifact to return?«
»We’ll survive, I’m sure. We’ll find a way.«
Vasina admired him for his view, he would never give up.
A flash of light, coming from the banning zone, caught Vasina’s eyes.
»Tranos! Look!«
He quickly turned around and pointed his shield in the direction Vasina had indicated.
Tranos almost jumped for joy.
»I can detect the energy matrix of an active Dimensional Swing. Maybe …«
At this moment a strong thunder rolled across the tundra. Out of nowhere, the monolith rematerialized, about one kilometer away. Again, Vasina and Tranos had to hide behind the defense shield to wait out the pressure wave.
»How’s that possible?« Vasina shouted surprised over the storm. »The Kugos mentioned much longer cycles!«
Tranos grinned
»They probably don’t know everything. Maybe our friends were able to speed up the process.«
»There! Yes! The portal!« Vasina cheered.
»Vasina, Tranos can you hear me?« Arkroid’s voice sounded from their communicators.
Relieved, Vasina answered, »We’re okay! We hope you are as well!«
»Come over to us, please, we need to talk.«
»Were you able to solve the riddle of the mountain?«
She grabbed Tranos by the arm and pulled him along.
»Yes, we did.«
As they joined the team, Arkroid said, »How did you fare? How was your excursion?«
»Our excursion?« she replied astonished. »How’d you know? I was just about to tell you about it. Especially our experiences at the Kugo habitat.«
»No need, I know it already,« Arkroid answered, clearing his throat.
»That can’t be, how? Are you ... okay, Toiber?«
»We were inside the mountain and visited the temple ... you remember? I think our fearless leader had some sort of ... uh ... enlightening there,« Pi sniggered.
Arkroid elbowed Pi in the side and smirked.
»I’m okay Vasina, never felt better. There’s a lot to talk about.«
Arkroid invited her with a wave of his hand.
Vasina and Tranos followed him to the mountain. They had no idea what awaited them.
