Devouring the SECRET (Corrigan & Co. Book 2) Page 4

by Crystal Perkins

I’d be one hundred percent sure if I didn’t know some of what is going to happen. My mom changing her stance on pretty much anything is liable to start a riot. Even though there’s only going to be 30 guests, it could still get ugly. The food could make it better, or send it all further into hell. But it’s pretty much out of my hands at this point. Out of both of our hands.

I’ve just finished changing into my suit and am heading over to the main house to wait for Faith when Elizabeth stops me outside the door.

“You’re with her? Really with her?”

“Yes. I already told you that yesterday.”

“You can’t just walk away so easily, Gavin. We had plans. We’re supposed to be together.”

“I’m done, Elizabeth. I want nothing to do with you.”

“That’s not your choice anymore. You got into bed with me, and I’m not letting you out.”

  “You’re the one who doesn’t have a choice. I said I’m done.”

  “You son of a bitch.”

She moves to hit me, but Faith is there in front of me, grabbing her arm. “Walk away, Elizabeth. You’re embarrassing yourself.”

“You think you’re so smart, Faith? Well, you’re not. This isn’t over. None of it is over. Remember that, Gavin.”

She storms into the house, and I shake my head before looking at Faith. Really looking at her. When I do, I almost fall over. Her dress looks to be pink underneath with big swirls of stiff black material over the top and curling over one shoulder. She has pink and green shoes on, and her hair is in big curls.

  “Fuck, you look amazing.”

“You look pretty good yourself. Not good enough to cause the crazy I just interrupted, but good enough to eat later.”

“I can’t tell if that’s an actual compliment, or not. I’m definitely not opposed to having you feast on me later, though.”

“I didn’t think you would be.”

“Thanks for helping run off Elizabeth, by the way. And for not letting her hit me.”

“I don’t share, Gavin. I already told you that. No other woman is going to hit my man.”

“I would never ask you to share. And I like you saying that I’m yours, even though I never said I was.”

“You’re right. We haven’t discussed this, but I thought it was clear. I don’t play games, so just tell me straight. Are we together?”

“Yes. Of course, yes. It’s crystal clear. We’re together, and I plan on us staying that way.”

“Good. Me, too. Now we should probably go inside. Who knows what your ex is saying about us.”

I smile as I lead her to the door. Inside I’m freaking out, though. Elizabeth knows too many of my secrets. She can’t tell them without exposing herself, but she will go after Faith. I have no doubt about that. Bringing her down was part of the plan all along. Now that I know her, and care for her, I have to find a way to protect her. From what exactly? I don’t know. I just know the train that’s coming is traveling fast, and I’ll jump in front of it to save the woman I love if I have to.

Whoa. I love her? Yeah, I do. It’s soon, and it came on fast, but I know it’s the truth. I love Faith. Now I just have to figure out the best way to protect her, and keep my mom safe, too.

When we walk inside, all conversation stops. My mom smiles and walks over to give both of us a kiss on the cheek. “Everyone has been raving about the food.” She turns back around. “These two are responsible for all of it. You all know my son, Gavin, but what you probably don’t know is that he’s a chef. His girlfriend, Faith, is equally talented in the kitchen. Please help me welcome them all to the party.”

No one wants to upset my mom, because they still think she’s on their side, so we’re completely surrounded in seconds. People compliment us on the food. The women fawn over Faith’s dress. It is pretty spectacular, so I’m not surprised by that, or by the way the men are looking at her. I stare hard at more than one guy, while keeping my hand on her waist and kissing her temple. I know it’s breaking the deal, but I need to claim her. She lets me know that she understands when she leans over to whisper in my ear.

“I know what you’re doing, Gav. I don’t consider it as breaking the deal. I’m not sure these little pecks are enough, though. So please, kiss me for real.”

I react instantly, cupping her cheek and bringing her mouth to mine. I keep it PG because I don’t want anyone to cheapen what we have by making a scene. It’s still hot though. Crazy hot. We’re both smiling when I finally pull away.

Until I look away, right into Elizabeth’s eyes. She looks like she’s ready to kill me. I should be scared, but I’m not. She was just part of a time in my life when I was being stupid. But that’s all over now, and I won’t let anyone or anything ruin what I’m starting to have with Faith. I do my best to convey that with my eyes, looking straight at her, not blinking. She smirks before looking away. This is definitely not over for her.

  Faith

Something weird is going on between Gavin and Elizabeth. I feel like it’s more than just a romance gone wrong. I’m worried that it has something to do with my investigation, although I haven’t seen Gavin anywhere near Susan’s office, and Elizabeth was only at the house yesterday. I can’t let my feelings get in the way, so I’ll talk to Reina in the morning and have Tegan and Ainsley start looking into the two of them more closely.

I’m careful not to let on that I’m bothered by anything. It’s actually easier than you’d think since Gavin has made dinner fun for me. He’s insisting that we feed our dishes to each other. I know we’re making a spectacle of ourselves, but neither one of us care. Everything tastes wonderful. Too soon everything’s finished, including the wonderful desserts we collaborated on.

“Thank you all for coming,” Susan says as she stands to address her guests. “But I’ve invited you here for more than dinner. I want to share my plans for the future with you. I’ve strayed too far from my past, but I’ve decided to go back to my roots. My stance on almost everything will be changing. I believe in equality for everyone and in stronger gun control. I know this is in contrast to what most of you feel is right. This is your chance to leave.”

Everyone is quiet at first, and then all hell breaks loose. Grown men are acting like children and their wives are no better. When they see that Susan is completely serious, a mass exodus occurs. Soon it’s only us and Elizabeth left in the dining room.

“I’ll continue to support you, Susan.”

“Thank you, dear. I appreciate it, especially since things didn’t end well with you and Gavin.”

“We’re not over. He’s just having some fun. He’ll be back.” I notice Elizabeth wink over at Gavin.

“Don’t act like I’m not in the room. And we’re not getting back together. I’m with Faith.”

  “We’ll see.”

“Yes, we will,” I tell her as I lean over and kiss Gavin.

He deepens the kiss and I hear her chair hit the floor. “Enjoy him for now, Faith. He belongs to me, and I’m not ready to let him go.”

I pull my lips from him to glare at her. “Good luck with that.”

“I don’t need luck. I own him, and although he’s trying to deny it, Gavin knows the truth.”

“You don’t own me. I told you, it’s over. All of it. Now run along and find some other lonely guy to trick.”

“You know it was a treat, not a trick, when you had me in your bed. I’ll be back there soon. When you come to your senses.”

“If this is about my race again,” I start, steeling my features into a mask of ice.

“It’s not. It’s about compatibility. Gavin and I fit—you and him do not. He’ll realize it soon as he’s done fucking you. I hope you don’t plan on falling in love because it’s futile.” She holds up her hand as I start to speak. “I know you don’t believe me now, but you’ll see.”

“Get out before I forget that I don’t hit women.”

“Oh, Gavin. You wouldn’t want to do th
at.”

“No, he wouldn’t. I’m not above hitting you myself, though, so I think you should listen to him and leave.” I really, really want to hit her.

“I’ll go, but I hope you remember later that I did warn you.”

  “Whatever.”

She sashays her hips as she walks out, trying to put on a show. Gavin’s fists are still clenched, and I can tell that he’s trying to control his breathing. I rub a hand over his back as I lean in and kiss him. He relaxes almost immediately and kisses me back. When he puts his arms around me, and pulls me tight to him, I know he’s calmed down enough for me to pull back. I touch my forehead to his as he continues to give me little kisses. It’s like he physically can’t stop.

  “It’s okay.”

“It’s not. What she said—I don’t want you to believe it. To believe her. Getting with her was the dumbest thing I’ve ever done. Being with you is the smartest.”

  “I don’t believe her.”

He’s still kissing me, but he stops to look in my eyes. “Thank you for trusting me.”

“I do.” I don’t. But that’s not about romance, it’s about work. “How soon can we leave and go back to my place?”

“We can leave soon. You don’t want to go to the pool house? It’s closer.”

I have to think fast. Good thing I was trained to do just that. “I don’t really want to be where she’s been, after all that.”

“Fuck. I didn’t even think about her being there. It was only a couple of times. But I get it. Let’s go check on my mom and the kitchen staff, and then we’ll go to your place so I can make you come all night.”

It takes us about an hour to leave. Susan isn’t really upset about what happened, mostly because she expected it. She says that she’s going to start looking for new supporters who share her views when her staff gets here on Monday. We also made sure all the leftover food was packaged properly and ready to be dropped off for the homeless. One of the things I love most about Gavin is his compassion, and when he told me earlier this week that he always donates leftover food from their parties to the homeless, it caused the biggest crack in the armor around my heart.

I tell him he can leave his car since I’m not planning on letting him go home for at least 24 hours. I do let him grab some clothes, even though I tell him he won’t need anything. We get to my place in record time, and as soon as were in the elevator, I push him against the wall. I practically climb him before he grabs my ass and lifts me up so I can wrap my legs around him. I’m alternately kissing, licking, and biting him. He thrusts against me, but makes sure we stay covered until we get to my floor. I guess one of us needs to be sane. He doesn’t put me down until we’re in my bedroom.

As soon as I’m back on my feet, I drop to my knees. I want him in my mouth so badly. He doesn’t try to stop me as I undo his belt and practically rip off his pants. I know I’m acting crazy and out of control, but I don’t care. Once I’ve got his boxer briefs and shoes off, I push him onto the bed. He sits at the edge, leaning back on his hands. I lick my lips as I see his wondrous cock in front of me. I force my eyes up and smile as I see him with his jacket, shirt, and tie still in place. So fucking hot.

I lean forward and take him all the way in. He practically flies off the bed, but leaves his hands off me. I know he’s letting this be all me because he wants me to know I can be in control whenever I want. It makes me lean over the edge of the cliff a little more. I lick and suck while pumping my hand below my mouth. My other hand is squeezing and massaging his balls. I let go a few times to lean down and blow on the wetness my mouth is creating. I know he likes that, and it brings him closer to losing control, as evidenced by his hands clenching the comforter behind him. It’s only a few minutes before he’s coming in my mouth on a yell. I continue until he stills, and I feel him fall back onto the bed. I let him go and climb over him, straddling his thighs.

“Baby, that was…God, I don’t even know what that was.”

“It was me sucking and blowing you.”

He laughs. “I know that. What I meant is that I can’t describe how hot it was. How hot you are.”

“Then don’t. Just let me ride you.”

  “Let’s get you undressed first.”

“No need. I’m not wearing panties,” I tell him as I push my dress to my waist.

I pull the condom out of his inside jacket pocket—where I knew it would be from our last night together. He’s looking at me in amazement as I put it on his cock, which has quickly recovered and is waiting for me. Then I climb onto him. Having him in my mouth has made me so wet that I slide down him easily until I’m fully seated on all of his glorious length.

“Holy fuck, you’re wet. You got that way from sucking me off?”

“I’ve been wet all night, but yes, getting you off got me where I am now.”

“You like having my cock in your mouth? Sucking me?”

“You can feel that I do.”

“Why didn’t you flip around? We could’ve sixty-nined. I don’t like knowing your pussy was being denied.”

  “Later. We’ll do that, later.”

“Oh yeah we will. But I need my mouth on your deprived pussy right now.”

He pulls me up and off of him. I’m struggling against him until he licks me with the flat of his tongue. Then I’m grabbing his head, urging him onward. I know I shouldn’t be doing that. He let me do what I wanted without interfering, so I should be doing the same. I can’t though. I’m so far gone in my own desire. I’m not only guiding his head. My hips are thrusting up as I fuck his face. He doesn’t seem to mind.

As soon as I’m pulling his hair and screaming his name, he shoots back up over me, thrusting his dick inside me hard. I’m still coming as he powers into me. A second orgasm is triggered as he fucks me the way we both need it.

“That’s it. Come hard again, Faith. How many more do you have in you?”

  “I-I don’t know. Just don’t stop.”

“I’m not stopping. The world ending couldn’t make me leave your pussy. My cock needs some relief now, so I’m going to come. We’re not done yet, though. I made you come five times last time we were together, and that wasn’t enough.”

He comes, yelling out my name, along with several four letter words. I bite his neck as I come a third time while he’s shaking inside of me. He holds my hips so I’m rubbing my clit against him as I’m thrashing, prolonging my pleasure. It’s not until I fall limp onto the pillows that he withdraws from me, kissing my forehead before going to take care of the condom.

I take my dress off, because it’s honestly uncomfortable to have the stiff fabric squished up all around me. Plus, Stella would kill me if she saw me mistreating it. No one messes with fashion when she’s around, unless they want to deal with her wrath. I’m laughing about that when Gavin comes out of the bathroom. His jacket and tie are off and he starts unbuttoning his shirt as he walks over to me.

“What’s so funny? Not what we just did, I hope.”

“What just occurred has definitely made me smile. But not laugh. I was thinking about how my friend Stella would kill me if she saw the dress she helped me pick out all scrunched up.”

“I’d like to meet this Stella. Actually, I’d like to meet all of your friends. I bet they’re lots of fun.”

“Are you already bored and looking for someone new?”

Instead of answering, he leans down and sucks my nipple into his mouth. With my bra still on. The suction combined with the friction causes me to arch my back and grab his shoulders.

“I’m never going to get bored with you,” he says with a smile. “And I was right, you did have sexy lingerie on under your fancy dress.”

“Just a bra,” I remind him as I trace a finger along the straps.

“I’m not complaining about that. At all. But I do like seeing you in satin and lace.”

“I like seeing you in nothing.”

“That can be arranged whenever you want.”

  “I wan
t that right now.”

He pulls off his shirt and then picks me up. He carries me to the bed, leaving my bra on for the next hour. After that, all bets were off as we we’re both naked and still not satisfied enough to stop. When we finally do, it’s because we’re both too exhausted to keep going. We fall asleep tangled in each other as the sun comes up.

  Gavin

Last night was one of the best of my life. Hell, it wasn’t one of the best, it was the best. Waking up with Faith in my arms makes it all the better. I try to hold onto that thought as I watch her sleep. I can’t help but let my thoughts stray to less pleasant things, though.

She changed the subject when I asked to meet her friends. Just like Elizabeth warned me she would. That was before we’d met, and I was able to separate myself from the task at hand so I didn’t really care. But now I do. I want to meet the other people she cares about. Even if they’re the bad people I was told they are. I’m not so sure I believe that anymore. Faith definitely isn’t evil. She may be lying to me about why she’s at my mother’s house, but I don’t think she could fake what’s between us.

I must squirm a little as I try to work things out in my head because she stirs next to me before opening her eyes to smile at me. “Good morning.”

  “Yes it is.”

  “I owe you a breakfast.”

“Do you have the strength to cook?”

She reaches back for a pillow before whacking me with it. “I think I can manage. You’re not that awesome.”

“I’m not?” I ask as I snake my hand between her legs. “You’re pretty wet for me not being awesome.”

“Oh, fuck,” she says in response.

  “My thoughts exactly.”

My hand is already grabbing one of the condoms I threw on the nightstand last night. It’s two hours later before we stumble out of the bed to cook breakfast together. If both of our stomachs weren’t rumbling, I’m pretty sure we never would’ve left.

  “Thanks for helping with breakfast.”

“You know I love cooking with you. Especially naked cooking.”

“Which we can’t do at your mother’s house.”
